i got this book and it told me from island to island!, 30 Oct 2005
The only reason i bought this book was so i could use ny time on learning what to do to keep my people happy and my creature good. But i fakt i got more than needed. The guide told me what happens if you do this or do this and how it will effect me. it tells you how to be total evil or total good. or how to me natural. this helps me a lot. and the biggest question was fixen in some secs. i used the guide and i got the good god i wanted to be. If you own the game then buy this guide.. maps, creature info, good-evil guide, and tells what all the builings do and how youre people will do if you biuld them.

What's to say about a strategy guide? It either helps, or it doesn't. This one does. And it is either easy to use, or it's not. This one is. And then, it either contains helpful information, or it doesn't. This one does. But there is more to it than that. What is important, is that this guide contains a wealth of useful information, as well as some really good tips. And that is what counts, right? So why not five stars? It could have been more. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good strategy guide. But it could have been better, simply because it could (should) have contained production tables. Minus one star for that.

Age of Mythology - some stuff you didn't know!, 01 Dec 2003
This book can be broken into several distinct sections. The first details basic economy and military stuff. Read it carefully as the game differs in subtle but significant ways to the other AoE games. Farms is a good example. The next 3 chapters deal with the three cultures individually. Once again some very useful tips appear for the idiosyncrasies of each culture. Read carefully and digest. The next few chapters cover the missions. Bizarrely this is stuck between the basic stuff of the cultures and then the advanced stuff. Lots of clues and hints on how to complete the mission. The final section has several chapters detailing advanced economy, military and then advanced greek, egyptian and norse strategies. Very very good section. Some very good samples of how to cause grief to your enemy! Overall the book is written clearly with an easy use of language so anyone can read it. There is repetition of information in some of the chapters; but that is good as it allows the casual reader to pick it up and still learn. As a final note, you get a rather nice pull-out poster to stick on your wall!

this book is great, it tells you about how to build a great civilization, to a brimming army that can include small foot soldiers to ginormous giants with massive clubs. it tells you that there is a a wide array of land to fight on, like forests, desert and sea.thats why i think this book is great, and hopefully the game will be great to. tom jeavons.

Hardly comprehensive, 20 May 2003
It's quite simple really. If you write this kind of book, it should be in the game and it should be fairly comprehensive. Not so in this case. This is a shiney book which, at first glance, seems to give all you game spoilers out there a complete guide to 'how to' but there are inaccuracies and omissions from the game (bits missing). I started using this book when I was bored with the game and wanted to see if I had missed anything, but instead of adding to my gaming experience I found myself adding to the book as a lot is missed out. Shame! Still, if you are the kind of person who likes to take the fun out of the hard way then this is a good place to start. PS - If you get this book, don't bust a gut looking for the Adv. Champion HF shield, you can't get it anywhere.
