Funny, Innovative and Fun, 17 Sep 2008
I was really impressed with the Recipe book.
I love Innocent Smoothies, though thought they were very expensive, and like many others, bought this book as a cheaper option. To make smoothies that taste good and are cheap.
I was thouroughly satisfied. I have made a few of these smoothies (without a juicer I might add) and they have blessedly tasted the same as the ones I love.
I would recommend it to anyone.
The posh ones are particularly good :)
The book was funny and a joy to read, with jokes and fun facts and even exercises to do while you make your smoothie.
Very high quality. Very impressed.
I am a Smoothie convert!, 05 Apr 2008
I have never really liked smoothies, milkshakes etc but as part of a healthy eating plan, thought I would be better snacking on these than crisps! This book is great, it has a good selection of both smoothies and juices and also a good insight on which fruit to use and what they are good for etc. It is very well written and has some delicious recipes- yes delicious! One thing to mention is that you will need both a smoothie maker and a juicer if you want to make all the recipes.
Lovely little book!!, 24 Feb 2008
Really good book, fantastic for the real smoothie enthusiast, bit over the top for me, but has given me lts of ideas for more child friendly smoothies. Really is a fantastic book just a bit fancy if all you want is basic smoothie recipes for everday use. BARGAIN
Fantastic Book... a real investment!, 20 Jan 2008
A great book!! Just the right size and jam packed full of not just recipes but also great advice on the produce needed and equiptment etc.
I'm also going to directly disagree with the previous reviewer and say that I cannot believe that from the very first recipe I attempted it tasted as great (if not better!?) than the shop bought innocent faves!! Plus living in the country has not hindered me one bit in finding the ingredients, a mixture of supporting a local fruit 'n' veg traders shop and anything unavailable from there (i.e. out of season) can be found in all large-ish supermarkets all year round.
So so sooooo pleased with the book I want to pass it around to my friends, but at the same time don't want to be without it, so will be buying them for birthdays and christmas!!
Nice recipes, 21 Dec 2007
Theres lots of nice smoothies in this book, although im finding it hard to match the same niceness as what you can buy. Also some of the ingrediants tend to be hard to come by living in the country!

Not only did I lose weight, but felt Mega great!, 09 Dec 2008
I have worked on this plan every 3 months and each time come out with amazing results. I am not overweight but still feel great to shift the excess wobble away. And on top of that I have found that my skin hair and nails look and feel great. This plan beats anything I've tried before!7lbs in 7 Days Super Juice Diet
A real kickstart to a healthy lifestyle, 15 Oct 2008
I followed it to the letter and lost 8lb in 7 days (I was 1.5st overweight, but otherwise fit). It required v little willpower. I didn't even crave chocolate (and I was a 2-3 bar per day girl before) and it has definately unhooked me from my unhealthy eating habits (sugar, salt, caffeine, comfort food) and given me the boost I needed.
The plan requires organisation and the ability to wash up lots (the juicer and blender) as you are making juices up to 5 times per day! Once you're in the swing of it, the juices are quick and will probably save you time compared to regular cooking.
I did feel hungry and light headed at times, despite the calorie intake, but then I am running around after 2 small children all day and rarely sit down. I also has loads of itchy "detox" spots (v unusual for me to even have 1!). The turbo plan that follows seems easier and I have felt my energy levels returning, the spots are going too.
If you are serious about doing this, then get the CD - it really helps if you get half way thro and want to give it all up (pretty normal on any plan!)
Effective but expensive endurance test, 08 Sep 2008
I really didn't like the style this book was written in. It's evangelical, repetitive and irritatingly patronising. I also hated everything being described as juicy all the time - I know it's a juice book but it got on my nerves after the tenth page. The author markets his other products in the book - the marketing is excellent and you have a huge range of products and media to choose from if you feel you need it. Personally the book was enough for me.
As for the diet it's expensive as you need a lot of fruit, supplements, a blender and a juicer but if you are planning to make a lifestyle change then it's an investment. I normally like juices but I didn't enjoy many of these recipes much, although I did get used to them. I had to cut down the supplements as they made me so nauseous and I didn't have any extra energy - quite the opposite - which was annoying as that's why I did this in the first place. Also I was hungry for most of the time, again contrary to the book. However I did lose more than 7lbs and so I think it is effective for weight loss. Note that you are instructed to weigh yourself the evening before you start and the morning after you finish the diet. As you always weigh less in the morning I think this is a bit of a trick to make you think you've lost more than you have. Also in order to maintain this weight loss you should then go on to the following regime in his next book......as I said, his marketing is excellent.
Awful !!, 09 Aug 2008
This diet is my idea of torture, I happily read the blurb and was even excited at the prospect of diet, and unfortunately this was short lived.
The first juice resembled a dark green colour, has the most awful smell, stagnant pond water is an apt description.
About half way through consuming this juice, I threw it up.
I did persevere, but most of the juices are disgusting.
Don't bother wasting your money on this book.
Easy, Simple, Healthy, 03 Jun 2008
I bought this book on a whim as I've only a small bit of weight to lose, but I travel quite a lot so I was interested in the detox aspect of it as well. Every body needs a tune up now and then and this is a great way to do it. If you're looking to shed a few pounds or give your system a boost, I highly recommend this book. I felt more energized, slept better, had healthier skin and was in higher spirits than usual after following this program, it's fantastic.
If you are planning to follow a juice program I very highly suggest you purchase the Phillips aluminum juicer, I love it and use it constantly. Combine a great juicer with some tasty recipes and you'll be hooked as well

No more diets. Yay!, 23 May 2008
Finally, I've found somebody who has told me that dieting doesn't work and actually PROVED to me that he's right! I never would have believed it but I've found the solution to my health and weight problems all in one book (or two - because I found the 7 lbs in 7 days juicing plan an absolute 'must'). This man talks little rubbish, doesn't pussy-foot around with words and makes complete and utter sense just as long as you're open to admitting it! You really cannot disagree with anything here. Whether you follow the plan itself or not, I would defy anybody who reads this book not to think twice before diving into that packet of biccies or frying up a pound of sausages - and perhaps (even hopefully??) choosing an alternative.
This is not a tree-huggy, evergreen, pink and fluffy environmentally friendly and PC sort of book. Yes, it advocates healthy living - but not in an overboard rammed-down-your-throat sort of a way. It's a great read, full of lovely humour and anecdotes, jammed full of home truths and lots of reverse psychology which is so subtle it's fantastic. I can't think of a better gift for anybody. Treat yourself - or treat somebody else. You won't regret it.
If you're looking for motivation to begin a healthier lifestyle, look no further!, 27 Feb 2008
I'll keep this brief - this book is not perfect (but then very few books are).
It is not an all-in-one book for a healthier lifestyle, so please don't buy it on its own if you need a 'reference book'. Neither is it a diet book (it follows no particular dietary path other than fresh, preferably organic, wholefoods), nor is it a recipe book.
What this book DOES do, superbly (despite the, at times, slightly-condescending language), is provide the reader with a very healthy dose of motivation. Ironically, I came to this book as someone who is already into living foods and juicing etc. - my interest in it was therefore entirely casual. I found this book to be something of a dark horse - it does not outwardly give the reader much of an impression of where its true strengths lie, and is written in rather simple language (that's not a criticism, just an observation), yet I cannot recall reading a mass-market book that so accessibly, un-'intellectually' and unpretentiously motivates the reader. I therefore highly recommend it as light reading for motivational purposes, for which it is good value for money. The other aspects of the book are weaker but at this price, it's a really good value does of motivation. Well done, on that count, Jason!
It's so easy to follow!, 31 Jan 2008
I have tried numerous diets by none have worked for me but this has.
This is so easy!
The juices are delicious and you never feel hungry.
I did have the advantage that I don't eat meat, drink tea or coffee or alcohol, my down fall is chocolate!
I did not miss this at all and never felt hungry.
In the first week I lost 7 1bs, my husband who eats meat lost 14 Ibs and we have both continued to loose weight over the following three weeks too.
My husband and I have continued to have a juice every day and to follow the points covered in the book.
Other benefits are improved skin and lots more energy.
I would recommend that you read the book first before embarking on the eating plan.
I am calling this an eating plan as it is not a diet but a change in eating habits.
What an inspiration!!, 09 Jan 2008
I cannot believe the effects of this man and his book. I bought this book as a desperate woman wanting to loose weight, after reading this and the 7lb in 7 days book I can honestly say it has changed the way I look, feel and think, the overall results are amazing. I have shed pounds and have changed my family's eating habits forever. What started as a diet has changed to a lifestyle, a lifestyle I want to stick with. My children are having the juices with me and I now realise the importance of a healthy lifestyle, I always thought I knew what a "healthy lifestyle" was until I read this book in its clear and simple text, he explains everything from good to bad and at the end of it all the choice is yours, I now have friends who have started on the juice plan and are also amazed at the simple requirements to a healthier life. anyone who wants to take their health seriously will love this book, if anyone does not like this book I think they should quit looking as this has been the easiest way for so many. Well done to jason vale and thank you. I think we will be seeing alot more of him in the future:o)

Fantastic, 16 Nov 2008
This is the best. The book is divided into handy sections i.e. How To, Juices, Smoothies, Reference. The star rating for the Juices & Smoothies is really useful i.e. Energy, Detox, Immunity, Digenstion and Skin. The reference section lists ailments and recommended juices/smoothies that may help. Just love this book, will be buying some for friends for Xmas.

The layout of the book and its receipes are so easy and delicious. There is a great variety of fruits and vegetables used here and the combinations are delicious. Beware as the quantities made are more than enough for 2. Highly recommended for juice and smoothie fanatics.
WOW, 06 Nov 2007
It is the first time I actually write a review but this book is well worth doing it.
This book is one of the best smoothie / juice recipe books I have seen so far.
VERY easy to follow, all nutritions are stated for each recipe and its all sorted by main ingredient...
Highly recommended ... And not to mention the price - I wouldn't mind paying double the price to be honest.
Best juice book I have seen , 27 Aug 2007
I have just started getting into juicing and of the recent books I have bought on the subject this is by far the best. The recipes are simple and you don't need alot of ingredients. Also it has an easy find tab system which is helpful. For anyone that has started juicing or is thinking of it, I highly recomend it.
Clarity, convenience and crammed with original ideas., 14 Apr 2007
After investing in a blender and realising most Smoothie ideas asked for 'coconut flavoured ice-cream' and 'vanilla flavoured soy milk', both of which i would not know where to start in finding them at my supermarket. I decided I would find a book.
This book is practical in the sense, it gives you smoothie ideas incorporating household fruits, like the standard- apples, bananas and pears. Then for the more adventurous, they add a section for vegetable smoothies - mixing celery with strawberries and such like to produce an amicable drink.
What i find, works in favour of Natalie Savona (the author) is the excess of information she provides around these recipes, she tells you the benefit of each fruit, vegetable and herb involved and how to prepare it for a blender, and below each recipe she gives the smoothie a rating out of five in 5 categories (detox..immunity..digestion..skin and energy).
As a waist-watching, sport-enthusiast such as myself this is great, because I can drink something with dates in it knowing i'm doing myself the world of good.
The index at the back, lists an a-z of illness, aches and pains and a page reference to the perfect smoothie and advice on which foods to eat. There's suggestions for sunburn, stress even memory problems!
If you're looking to lose weight (or prevent memory problems) and you're prepared to fork out for a bit more fruit than usual, or you want a nice refresher drink for your guests, this book is essential for you and your kitchen.

Every body needs a tune up now and then and this is a great way to do it. If you're looking to shed a few pounds or give your system a boost, I highly recommend this book. I felt more energized, slept better, had healthier skin and was in higher spirits than usual after following this program, it's fantastic.

The juices are delicious and you never feel hungry.

Not too bad but a little lightweight., 12 Feb 2007
I get bought loads of 'winey' stuff as I am into wine, so I was quite pleased to get this book. As a guide it works well enough, although I feel that it should feature 200 or so wines rather than the 100 it concentrates on. The style itself is not bad but I get the impression that this wine guide is about showing that wine is cool and fun and not enough time is spent reviewing more wines. Many of the wines reviewed are a bit pricey too.
Great little book, 30 Jan 2007
I got this book for Christmas, and not knowing anything about wine was hoping it could give me a few pointers on what to buy. I found it very informative and a great little read.
It has given me loads of ideas on wine to buy, and I have also found that some of the wines it lists as not being available at local supermarkets/wine shops (or only available at one supermarket) are indeed available at my local shop. Perhaps they weren't at the time it went to print? There are obviously wines that are only available from specialist outlets, but this book has actually tempted me to make the effort and buy them, rather than just grabbing a random bottle of wine from the supermarket. Overall I found it very informative and for the price you can't really go wrong. Also Matt's energy and passion for wine if very infectious.
nice idea, but could have more wine., 24 Oct 2006
I saw this book and thought I should give it a go as there aren't many young people that write about wine. To be honest I thought The Juice 2007 was ok, but many of the wines it suggest are only available from specialist retailers so I doubt that many people will actually be able to buy the wines suggested in this book.
Not great, but a decent enough stocking filler.
More wine, less pictures please!, 22 Feb 2006
I bought this guide as it's obviously meant to appeal to a younger audience than the average wine guide, and being in my 20's I thought I'd give it a go. To be honest its ok, but not really any better than ok. Matt Skinners approach might be very low-key and Australian, but reading words like 'juice' and 'daggy' every page make the prose start to annoy the reader pretty quickly. Also, and I know it has been said before, but there really are too many pictures of Matt (even a picture of his training shoes in his bedroom!) and not enough affordable suggestions for wines to drink. This book has brazenly attempted to make drinking wine as cool as skateboarding ... why?
Nice surprise, incredibly useful and stylish, 13 Dec 2005
After reading the mixed reviews I was intrigued about this book. I've seen Matt on TV and I'm a big Jamie fan so I thought I'd give it a go. I was really surprised and pleased - it's so useful and I've found several bottles which have impressed my friends! It looks great too - definitely recommended.

Fantastic viewpoint, good info and solid foundation behind info, 04 Jan 2009
As a success consultant I'm often having to guide my clients in the affect toxins have on general stress to the body and health. It's often hard to replace what people are used to because of the "hassle factor" of living busy lives.
I now point people in the direction of the recipes in this book, there aren't that many in the book, but by using these as templates there is a lot of flexibility for the reader.
Also the messages Victoria puts forward about the nature of greens, the soil they live in, then nature of sun energy although seeming to be simple common sense really brought about a quantum shift in terms of how I thought about what I should be telling people to help them build true wealth in their lives.

RAW this is good, 22 Feb 2008
Ive been a personal trainer for a while now and ive always questioned our so called correct nutrition, when i read this it made more sense then any textbook ive read and so now ive incorporated it into my diet, im not fully raw yet but i plan to be by end of year.
great read and insightful.
give this a read and it might just open your eyes or at least start the process.
The way to healthy living , 28 Oct 2007
I used to do a lot of juicing in the past but it is very time consuming and really messy. My problem is over since I got Green for Life. Making smoothies is a great alternative to juicing. It is much faster, less messy, and you also get some fiber in addition to juice. In addition to great recipes for making smoothies the book is also a good source of information about proper nutrition, the importance of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and much more. Get this book!! Another great volume that you may not miss is Can We Live 150 Years. These two books together make a perfect gift of showing the way to healthy living just for anyone.
Greens yes, but what about carbohydrates ???, 11 Feb 2007
If you do not get enough carbohydrates from eating fruits, at least 1800-2400 calories of fruits per day, you can never get enough energy from the greens. Greens are incredibly rich in minerals and amino acids, less in vitamins, and Fruits are incredibly rich in Vitamins and less so in minerals and amino acids so they are a great complement to eachother. However, without the fruits, the evening will be hell, feeling hungry like a lion ! [...]
Truly Inspirational!, 15 Mar 2006
I was attracted to read this book as over the last few months I have been reading about people eating a raw food diet. I am not yet on the diet, but have been thinking about trying it. I have read mainly good, but a small amount of negative stories of how people have found the diet. I think this book explains brilliantly what our diet should approximately be like. That of chimpanzees of course! It all makes sense. We have almost the same DNA as them, so why shouldn't we eat like them? Victoria conducted a lot of research into the chimps' diets and found that they eat a high percentage of greens - i.e. dark green vegetables. She found that her and her family's diet was lacking in greens despite them already being on a raw food diet, so they started to have green smoothies daily. The family noticed huge improvements in their health, and have continued to drink them everyday since. She decided to do a study of volunteers from a town who drank her green smoothies daily for 30 days - some of them on a standard cooked diet. It seems that most of them found huge health improvements including their general energy levels and quality of sleep. This is a truly inspirational book and has personally got me thinking that I will give eating raw foods a go, firstly by drinking a green smoothie a day. I would to like hear how other people's views too.

The easiest juice receipe book ever!!, 19 Feb 2008
