INFORMATIVE AND ALSO QUICK TO READ, 26 May 2008
I read this book in under an hour. It is very easy to follow and tells you expactly what you need to know so that you can teach your child to read. It is straight to the point and just tells you what you need to know.
I have taught my son the phonics sounds using Jolly & did not know what to do next. This book has given me the confidence to go ahead and teach him how to sound out words & eventually read.
It shows you how to use its reading scheme where it has letters & words at the beginning of each book for your child to practise before they read the book.

11 plus guide for parents, 01 Aug 2008
So your child is about to sit the 11 plus. You've looked at the practice/old papers and you haven't got a clue what's going on? Then get this book, which goes through the 21 types of questions and explains how to identify the patterns and techniques. Essential!

11+English gets A+ rating, 22 Jan 2003
getting children smoothly through the transition from primary school to senior school is no easy matter. What is so clever about this book is that it gives parents a yardstick by which to gauge their children's knowledge and experience. It enables parents to help as and if necessary, but its tone is relaxed, friendly, funny and reassuring, so that the hysterics and angst associated with a time of school change, are minimised. Thank goodness for this book. I suspect it will guide many parents through a difficult time and see them safely to the other shore, their sanity intact, their children all the more confident and successful.
