Reading the other reviews on this website i got the impression that this would be a fun reliable helpful read. The majority of the book is a waste of space containing no useful information whatsoever. It goes into enormous detail about stereotypes, different types of students but I'm 19 and i couldnt help but think that this book is incredibly outdated in reference to what students are really like nowadays. the set up and content reminded me of a book writing about 1980's Britain and i was continually reminded of programs like "Grange hill" which claim to tackle issues of teenagers but the majority of teenagers just dont apply to the storyline. It is the same for this book. Having said that some areas are very useful, the alcohol, drugs and accomodation sections are very informative especially if you interested in taking drugs and want to know more information about each one. and my last point is that the book simply isnt funny in my view.
have good reading.
Humerous or Offensive?, 05 Dec 2007
We were looking for a book to give to our son prior to him going to university. From the description, this book sounded appropriate. However, this book has much lower moral values than either us or our son. It is being returned immediately for a refund.
I am sure that many students may find this book humorous but some, like us, may find some of the contents offensive.
Sooooooooooo funny and true!, 12 Jan 2004
A friend lent me this book when I started at uni, and I have to say it's the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Everything the authors have to say about uni is spot on, and I was laughing out loud for most of the way through! Thoroughly recommended, particularly as a gift to a fresher!
If you're off to college/university........................., 05 Sep 2003

The Bible for Students!, 25 Feb 2003
As a University student, I keep this book nearby at all times and believe that everyone else should too. It's fantastically funny and contains actually really useful info on all aspects of student life. The photos are hilarious and the writing will have you in stitches. So all students, past, present and future - BUY THIS BOOK!!!

Complete Essential Guide, 29 Aug 2008
Written by Steve Burford a new, up-and-coming successful entrepreneur with a zest for life and a true caring attitude to the youth of our time. This book examines a unique style in comparison to other authors in his generation summarising some excellent ways to balance work and social life to finally realise your true goals at university. A great book introducing students to the exciting and truly important chapter of their life.
Students-The best advice you'll ever read!, 04 Aug 2008
Defeat Student Debt provides an extremely accurate account of what to expect at uni as well as offering some fantastic money saving tips. A must read for any prospective or current student who wants to leave uni with some money to their name!
In my opinion the best university guide out there , 01 Aug 2008
I have read both the Virgin's Guide to University Life and the Cheeky Guide to Student Life and although the virgin guide does have more practical advice than the cheeky guide, both miss out on some of the important things in student life - how to source a part time job, essential saving skills and sites to use, flirting tips, other ways to increase your income and good graduate advice. This is a great addition to your bookshelf or a nice leaving gift for any friend, son or daughter or is off to uni this year.

Great book!, 13 Aug 2006
I bought this book just when I was about to leave at uni in England and go back to Greece, and I have to say it's a very good guide book I've read in a long time. Everything the author has to say about studying and living in the UK is spot on, and I wish I had it when I began my studies in England. I thoroughly recommended this book and advise students to keep it with them at all times.
A Very Good Book, 25 Jan 2006
The book is clearly written and presented. It touches upon most issues, which a student will encounter or need to know. It is essentially a practical guide with extremely useful information covering topics such as how to apply, travel, immigration, heath, money and employment. The guide is packed with information that us students would find very useful.
Excellent source of Information, 10 Jan 2006
This book is very well written, is easy to read and has a lot of useful information. I recommend this book to anyone who is studying in the UK or plans to study in the near future. It covers everything from application to immigration, health, employment, entertainment, study methods, university life and culture.

entertaining, great illustrations, excellent tip for teens, 04 Oct 1998
Anxious and troubled and confused teens (most of the teen populations) will carry this portable guide to survival for several days and come away reassured that they are not alone, and come away with useful skills to make life better and easier. Even the teen readers like it!!
