Great way to learn clinical skills, 08 Oct 2008
At last! An accessible (both in terms of hard cash and information presented) set of DVDs on physical examination skills.
How easy Andreas Syrimis has made it for stressed out students! I watch these DVDs while I am cooking or washing up! No weighty tomes to wade through, no sitting at my computer alone upstairs scouring the internet for clinical skills videos. All here, all accessible. Not only video footage but with additional slides and self-assessment questions included.
I agree with another reviewer who says that Andreas demystifies clinical skills. Take, for example, the nervous system, which often scares and confuses students; he tackles its complexities (on 2 DVDs) with clarity and logic, and presents his information precisely and concisely. His style is confident but gentle and unhurried. He takes the listener with him - and of course there is always the pause/rewind button on hand......just incase!
As a trained nurse now studying to become a health practitioner I would recommend these DVDs to anyone needing to learn/revise clinical examination skills for bedside and/or consulting room.
A gem laden piece of work., 29 Sep 2008
I now have most of the Clinical Examination DVD series and can say that they are a brilliant & thorough guide to physical examination and differential diagnosis for the various systems. The author presents gem after gem of information in a highly effective manner. The visual demonstrations of technique are plentiful and brilliant for memory retention. Simply a wonderful way to learn!
A much awaited DVD on clinical examinations, 26 Apr 2008
I was very suprised with the amount of useful information packed onto a single DVD. Everything a student needs for revising his clinical skills; including anatomy and physiology, case history taking, regional examinations of synovial joints and many orthopaedic tests all performed with clarity and backed up by great images. Highly recommended!
Excellent teaching resource, 17 Mar 2008
I purchased the whole set of Andreas Syrimis's DVD's to use as teaching and revision aids for both under and post graduate orthodox and complementary medicine students. Mr Syrimis has made the subject of physical examination accessible. He has removed the mystery from it. My students found the musculoskeletal DVD especially helpful. This is an area of physical examination that students traditionally have difficulty with. The subject is clearly and logically presented. The format facilitates numerous ways of teaching from initial subject introduction to revision. Thank you Mr Syrimis and I wish the DVD's had been published when I was a student. I have no reservations in recommending them to tutors and students alike.
Physical examination DVD, 17 Mar 2008
I was pleasantly surprised at the style and simplicity of this presentation. As a clinician for the NHS I have access to a variety of learning resources but I found this DVD a much easier way of gaining confidence with musculoskeletal assessment. Particularly the way the orthopaedic tests were demonstrated interlaced with clear slides and images showing what structures or conditions are being tested were very helpful. The section on case history taking centred on musculoskeletal complaints is also comprehensive and good revision too. My doubts about acquiring this product were ill-founded.

This works, please take advantage of it., 25 May 1999
I successfully used this book to prepare for the removal of major uterine fibroids. I was frightened at the prospect of my first ever surgery and I would not have come out of it so positively without the book and tape. My surgeon was amazed at my recovery and he only does this type of surgery. Try it for yourself, you have nothing to lose and peace of mind and body to gain.
Read the book, used the tape, had a great recovery!, 31 Mar 1999
This is an important book! Peggy Huddleston tells you how to use relaxation methods and visualization of your outcomes (for surgery and recovery - or chemotherapy) in a very straightforward, practical way. She also tells you how to approach your surgeon and anesthesiologist before surgery, what kinds of questions to ask them, and how to get them to help ensure a positive outcome/recovery by using healing statements during surgery and post-op. Most of the pieces of Peggy's method may seem familiar, but no one has put them in one place as such an easy to use guide. I used the book and tape prior to major surgery, got out of the hospital (my choice) in 1 day, and took no pain meds after 1 day at home because I felt so good. It worked for me.
An extremely helpful tool for entering surgery with optomism, 26 Oct 1998
This book helped me prepare to undergo major surgery with a sense of participation and control. If you're going to face surgery, the use of the accompanying audio tape is essential for maximim success, but just following the five steps of preparation listed in the book is a great help. I underwent serious abdominal surgery, had very little blood loss, used half the amount of pain meds usually prescribed, and went home in 72 hours. Every surgeon should know about this book, and every person undergoing surgery, who wishes to thrive, should take a look at this one.
You Need To Read This If You're Having Surgery, 23 Jul 1998
I really found this book to be an incredibly good resource. It has prepared me mentally for my surgery and I know I won't be as freaked out when the big day comes. Anything that can help reduce recovery time and the anxiety that comes with surgery is worth a try.
Outstanding book which helped me feel relaxed and prepared., 01 Jun 1998
I read this book prior to surgery. It helped me relax about the surgery and recover more rapidly. My doctor commented several times on the fact that I did not request pain medication. I believe that was due to using this book. I highly recommend it for anyone facing surgery. It should be a part of the lending library of every physician.

What a delight., 24 Aug 2008
This book is just a wonderful collection of such charming stories. My eldest son is nearly 6 years and a fairly prolific reader but we have struggled to find books with enough words to challenge him but age appropriate storylines. Having not read Winnie the Pooh as a child myself I was a little sceptical but the stories are wonderful. The humour is gentle, the stories a delight, the text beautifully written. My eldest reads the book to himself, I read it to his younger brother. In short, we love it.
Fab for little ones... not for me, 18 May 2008
Meet the adorable, ponderous Pooh Bear; the cute, funny, little Piglet; the bouncy, lovable Tigger and everyone else who reside in the Hundred Acre Wood in this fabulous book with fabulous short stories about these fabulous characters' adventures.
As a little child I never really liked Winnie the Pooh but now, I am 10, I think it is great. I am not too fond of the Disney one but the one by AA Milne is great! I love EH Shepard's illustrations which really make the book lovely. I think this book was worth every penny - a real delight to read, especially at bedtime!
I love the story about when Piglet's home was floating because of the terrible rainstorm and it is ingenious how his friends get him back to land.
wonderful cast, delightful book, 08 Mar 2002
Judi Dench, Michael Williams, Stephen Fry et al obviously really enjoyed producing this dramatisation of Winnie the Pooh. It has been listened to over and over by our 2 year old, who fits all sorts of Pooh-isms into her developing conversation! - it's a lovely set of tapes, ideal for the car and a story you get more out of as you get older - without it being beyond the reach of little ones. If you like Winnie-the-Pooh, this cast does it well.
very insightful!, 25 Apr 2001
This book, never read as a young person (nor to me), has proven to be an invaluable source of insight into a lot of areas. In a world governed by numerous self-help books and alike, this book no doubt serves as solid and long-standing. l would have loved to have had this read to me as a child, l recommend every adult to read it, and then read it to their children.

Fantastic start to meditation/self hypnosis, 18 Sep 2007
I had this CD suggested to me around 4 years ago at a point of my life where I was majorly unable to face general events of every day life. The prospect of 'self hynosis' seemed quite scary to me, because it was so different than anything I'd done before, but I gave it a shot with an open mind.
As it began, I couldn't help the increasing smerk across my face, the music, the voice, it all seemed very cleche. I pictured myself on some American drama as the "off-the-rails-drug-adict-in-rehab", but after a couple of minutes, I was able to take it more seriously, and begin to use it to its full potential.
I was able to get "into" it very quickly after that, and I gave me a wonderful escape from the stresses of life. It wasn't too intense, and I liked the fact that he had a 'normal' voice, it gave a more relaxed feel and seemed very un-pressurized.
It was a fantastic intoduction to meditation and self hynosis for me, and would reccomend it to anyone who is unfamiler with the prospect. From this I dabbled a couple of other meditations by Glenn Harrold (and various other meditation CDs which I cannot compare this, and other Harrold works to) and now mainly listen to music and guide myself through the meditation.
A Guided Meditation, 20 May 2004
I am a Reiki Master and Teacher. I use this tape just before attunements.I prefare the timing of these meditations, as some others can go on too long. I do use others, but prefare the pleasant voice and suggestions that Glen combines. I have played this tape now to lots of my students. We all love it. Some students find it hard to meditate, but have said that it is one of the best they have heard. Wow!!, 16 Mar 2002
I've had this tape for quite some time now. To be honest, I didn't rate it much at first but there is something about this guy's voice which just grew on me. You can literally feel the tension easing as you listen to the tape. Self hypnosis is a pretty trippy feeling.! If you're thinking about buying this tape..don't just sit there thinking about it..do it!! I promise that it isn't something you will regret doing...
Meditate on love, 20 Jan 2002
This is a tape my boyfriend bought a long time ago and I have only just caught onto. Firstly, this tape does not belong to the generation of naff audios which feature a bloke saying "imagine this, imagine that." The sound effects on these tapes are fantastic and realistic. This tape ought to be bought for the beautiful images it creates in ones head as well as for the fact that it works. It's a fun tape to use. Listening at night is different from listening during the day. Mention should be made of the singer of the altro music on side one. What a voice!
Relaxing, energising, soothing, healing, 20 Oct 2001
This is less of a meditation and more of a self hypnosis healing CD. Glenn does have a strange voice (South London accent?) for a hypnotist, but that is soon forgotton because this really works. I bought it a few months ago and tossed it in a drawer. I fished it out again after my husband left me for another, and I was having trouble sleeping and keeping my mind from agonising over what was going on in my life. It worked amazingly well. If I listened at night, it had me asleep within 10 mins no matter how awful I was feeling, or how far away sleep seemed. If I listened in the morning, it filled me with good and constructive thoughts determined to make the best of the day. This is a lovely CD, I would recommend it to anyone. Is he single I wonder....... :-)

Insightful must have relationship handbook!, 01 Aug 2006
I first read this book over a year ago and have just re-read it recently. I found it very insightful and so helpful on both occasions.
I think it is definitely worth reading and you may learn something new.
I learnt new ways to communicate with my boyfriend and turn what we had into the relationship i had always wanted. I also learnt valuable lessons about myself and my own behaviour and realised that some of the things i said or did were having a destructive effect on our relationship - it definitely wasn't all my boyfriend's fault as i had originally thought.
The love letters are an invaluable tool for organising your thoughts rather than just launching into an argument - it pays to take a deep breath and write one using the structured guide. I guarantee you will be surprised at some of the feelings and thoughts that come out.
I have recently passed this book to a friend and it has been so rewarding to see her take control of her relationship using the advice it contains. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new approach to their relationship.
Useful to a certain extent!, 17 Aug 2005
I have read this book several times, and even though it useful in helping understand the different ways men and women think & feel, it does tend to simplify things. This book shouldn't be read as a way of magically saving or fixing a relationship, although the suggestions are helpful, you may not get all the answers & solutions you want. After all it might explain why men go into their 'caves' but doesn't tell you what to do if they never come out!! It might help you improve what you've got, but isn't going to teach you how to make something out of nothing! I think the opposite sex will always to some extent remain one of life's greatest mysteries, & isn't that part of the fun?!
Very helpful indeed!, 15 Jun 2005
This book is amazing! It goes into such detail about how men and women think differently and how and what they hear when their partner speaks to them. Excellent book if you would like to better understand your partner. Just get him to read it too!! I found it really improved my understanding of how my husband thinks. It also helped me to understand myself better and why I think and feel certain ways. It just makes sence! Read this book if your relationship is in any kind of trouble!

Has no effect on me except to iritate!, 17 Sep 2008
Something about this man's voice really grates; a strong London/Southern accent and none of the soothing qualities I'd expect in a hypnotist. At one point he just keeps saying 'go to sleep, go to sleep' like a slightly irritated parent with a toddler. I keep trying it cos I am desperate to sleep, but usually have to get up and switch it off half way through cos I can't bear it!
I thought he was going to sell me insurance!, 25 Jul 2008
Wht a strange experience. This man has a really awful voice - quite scary - and really annoying. Having said all that I have been a poor sleeper for years and tried every "cure" possible, from prescribed drugs to yoga, you name it and I have tried it. Glenn seems to work. Not every night but I have had long, restful nights of sleep which previously I would only have dreamed of (if only I could get to dream) for which I am truly grateful.
It worked for me., 29 May 2008
I am so glad I purchased this cd.
This cd has shown me a way into relaxing that I would not ever have managed alone.
Listening to it keeps you on track and stops your mind wandering.
I'd not had a proper nights sleep for 16 years, for various reasons including not being able to switch my brain off at night.
Thoughts, ideas and worries would just make it impossible to relax enough to be able to drift off to sleep.
I could not consider medication to help me sleep because my son is diabetic.
I tried the lavender sprays etc, but they did not help.
Buying this cd for me was my only resort, and I am so glad I did.
I've had this cd now for several months and I consider it one of the best purchases I have ever made.
It took a week or so before I experienced the full benefit, and now I don't even have to listen to it every night,
I just lay there going through the motions of visualizing and deep breathing.
My mother and sister both gave this cd a go and it worked for them too.
I was so impressed I also purchased Glenn Harrold's relaxation one too, although I found the tracks too similar to this cd, so I usually just stick to this sleep one.
What you get, (improved quality of life,) for the small amount of money you spend on this, is Priceless.
A big thank you goes to Glenn Harrold, he's definitely made an improvement in my life.
Feel like I have slept for a week after each use, 27 Apr 2007
I could'nt recommend this tape highly enough. Was'nt able to sleep due to certain problems going around in my mind every night. Was taking herbal pills to make me sleep. Really did'nt expect too much of the tape but exceeded all expectations. Its definitely worked a treat, I hardly get to the middle of the tape before I am off to sleep and I'm into a deep sleep as it suggests on the cover. No need for any pills to put me over any more. The very best part is, when I wake up I'm totally rejuvenated and full of energy, this tape gives you a new lease of life. I have also tried Glenn Harrolds 'Overcome the fear of flying' and it was excellent and very calming when flying. I have sent for another of his cd's through amazon also, I have total confidence in him. Glenns cd's should be given out on the national health! Any problem you have, there should be a cd from him to help, I think he has roughly thirty tapes out at the moment.
self hypnosis and sleep, 08 Mar 2007
This really does make you concentrate on getting to sleep and for most insomniacs that is half the battle. I am really pleasantly surprised by how I never quite get to the end of the CD. It works and I will reccomend it.

The impact gets greater with each re-reading, 29 Aug 2003
This compact volume is one of the most valuable books I have ever read. The material that it covers is very densely packed, and works on many, many levels at once - any given passage can (and will!) resonate on mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological levels all at once. Since your priorities and states of mind change as time passes, your perceptions and understanding of the material will change as well, so please take Dr Chopra's advice and read a section daily. I have been reading the entire book every day for a year now, and it still offers new insights and lessons every day. Start your day with a dose of Chopra, and set your mind for a day of graceful, successful abundance!
Dip into this book regularly and see your life improve, 30 Nov 2001
This is an inspiring book that deserves to be refered to again and again. Because this book is extremely concentrated Dr Deepak Chopra suggests it is read through once and then to read 5 pages on a daily basis as a lifelong habit. His promise is that wealth in all its forms will then follow you. In his a-z of clearly laid out steps to gaining affluence he explains such diverse things as why it is not necessary to judge people or things as good or bad, that luxury is our natural state, as well as why we should exult in the success of our competitors and enemies and much, much more... This book is clearly not only for creating affluence in our lives but for fulfilment in all areas of our lives as well. It shows why Dr Chopra is a world-renowned leader in the field of human potential. I predict that life will get better for you if you take to heart even some of the suggestions in this excellent book.
The guide for transforming abundance to affluence., 21 Jul 1999
This book changed my life by awakening my understanding that affluence is just another form of abundance. All of us have abundance - whether it be an abundance of plants, relatives, friends, seashells - whatever! Furthermore, in the universe there is no inherent difference of value between gold and lead or any other element. Therefore, if you have an abundance of anything you can create an abundance of money, because money is a relative concept. Worked for me! I loved this book because it changed my perception of money without changing my values or beliefs and then changed me from an impoverished single mother to one who is quite comfortable. There were, it is true, other factors, but this book was a very major influence. Another way of thinking of it is from Maharishi Maharesh who responded to the question of where money would come for a new project by saying, "Why, from wherever it is now!" Try it.
Nothing here to get excited about, 17 Mar 1999
Deepak Chopra remains an enigma to me. Some of his tapes have been quite good producing many useful and interesting insights. Others, such as this tape say absolutely nothing. I have always had difficulty deciding if Chopra is a sage for our age or a charlatan feeding off of and helping to create the current alternative mind, body, spirit movement. After reading the positive reviews given this book/tape I ordered it with great hope, but after listening to it four separate times (he suggest listening to it daily) I can not find one thing new, inovative, insightful or anything that is of much help at all. I listened so many times because I felt that I must be missing something. I wasn't!! Advice stating to find what you were meant to do and do it well doesn't exactly excite one to action especially when this statement is as far as this concept goes. No help in how to do this. Or try on such statements as we are all here to make everyone happy, or such gems as always go first class in everything and the world will reward you, or my personal favorite-make alot of money then spend it all or give it to friends, family and your children because you must keep money flowing. So many statements with no rational from which they came. I read somewhere that Hemmingway was capable of writing the most magnificent books such as "For Whom the Bell Tolls" when he was in great form but when drinking and needing money he would turn out such books as "The Green Hills of Africa" for quick money and to capitalize on his reputation. Don't know if this is true of Hemminway but this work is Chopra's "Green Hills of Africa." (Not suggesting he drinks because I am sure he doesn't--but I do believe he has some works of lesser importance-or no importance) Avoid this tape!
ANOTHER WINNER!---ANOTHER MUST READ!!, 05 Jun 1998
Once again Dr.Chopra exposes us to more glorious ways to grow and be spiritually healthy, and to expand that growth. So simple,so easy,so true. Another definate MUST read!!!
