Absolute must have, 09 Nov 2006
I have just started a reflexology diploma and ordered this book in error. However it is by the same author as the recommended text. The book is TINY. At first I thought I'd send it back, but checked it through first. It has all the information you need for actual treatments, but condensed right down to the essentials. So you can sit with your patients feet in front of you and the book tucked to one side. It givesyou the complete order of treatment. Each page gives you a detailed drawing of the exact reflexology area, a description of the area and, most important, the treatment, including exactly where and how to work the thumb and or fingers. I find it the most useful book ever. It can be kept in your handbag or pocket - so you could do a treatment whenever you can find a willing subject. Since I got the book at least two other girls in the class have bought one. Plus its pretty cheap.

Excellent, detailed book on deep tissue massage, 14 Dec 2005
This is a great book - one of the few massage books with real detail on how to actually perform deep tissue massage. It probably won't be much use to people not already well versed in massage but to practitioners it's a gold-mine.

A definite for learning reflexology, 17 Jul 2006
If you are thinking of doing a course or just want to know more about reflexology, then both is possible with this book. It is very clear in how to do it and where to find things. It uses drawings which are very easy to use and gives treatments for a whole list of medical problems. All information is neatly organised and easy to find. It takes you from baby reflexology to stress at school, from couple reflexology to adult/ old age pensioners treatments and even includes terminal illness treatments. Use it to learn from, as reference book or just to find information on reflexology.
I would definitely recommend this book if you want to know more about reflexology, especially if you want to go and use it.
Great book, 07 Feb 2006
I am studying reflexology at present and after reading a few articles which said reflexolgy could not possibly be doing all the things claimed by therapists that it did, I was getting a bit disheartened. I then bought this book and it has restored my faith in this great therapy once again, the book is very well written with many examples on how to deal with different conditions.
Reflexology for Students, 21 Jul 2003
Having used this book as a student, I can certainly recommend it to other potential students or practicing therapists. It is well laid out, with good quality detailed diagrams, and provides useful explanations for learning the basic techniques. It also has excellent information given in the form of good diagrams, relating to the reflexes to stimulate, for each of the major/ commonly occuring illnesses. Probably not the most interesting of books for the amateur.
Good book only if you are a qualified Reflexologist, 29 Dec 2001
Reading the beginning of Laura Normans book I was hopeful about the rest of the content. However as a student a book which was categorised into systems of the body would have been more beneficial. I feel this book is only useful if you have already qualified as a reflexologist and want to build upon your current knowledge. It gives detailed sections on specific ailments , age groups and areas to work on. It is probably a book I will refer to at a later date when I have more experience and need a reference guide.
A factual and interesting book for the beginner to the art., 07 Sep 2001
I first used laura normans book when i was doing a diploma in reflexology in college. I found her approach to the subject an excellant welcome to the art of reflexology, and i base alot of my methods around her own. She offers different insights into the application as well as the self healing that comes from the mind. I still find that even whilst i now have my own clientele, i still reach for laura normans book to compare some of her techniques with my own. Im glad that I trained and had this invaluable tool as one of my teachers.

Im glad that I trained and had this invaluable tool as one of my teachers.

An excellent resource not only for Reflexology, but as a beginner's guide to anatomy and physiology as well! The illustrations are clear, detailed and excellent. The sections covering Health and Safety regulations are comprehensive if you need to prepare for the M2 and M74 exams. I have used this book as a resource for all of my VTCT holistic therapy courses. Fabulous book - a must on any holistic therapist's shelf. The only book for your Diploma, 22 Jan 2003
I was a few months into my Diploma when I came across this book on amazon. It has helped a great deal with my course and even gives you great tips for setting up in business. There is plenty on Anatomy and Government acts too! Reflexology for the VTCT Diploma, 12 Oct 2002
This book is an excellent source reference for the VTCT Reflexology Diploma. As a tutor of the subject, I was delighted to see that unusually it contains relevant Anatomy and Physiology for students as well as a section on setting up a business and advice for sustaining it. Additionally, the photographs of Reflexology techniques are clear and succinct. Charts are also well referenced and clear. Advice on consultation and health and safety law is also included. Perhaps a useful guide for any reflexologist in practice. Thanks for an all in one package very well done. A very useful book, 15 Mar 2004
This book is packed with loads of useful information for beginners of reflexology. It covers both hand and foot reflexology. It has self help techniques as well as techniques you can practise on others. At the end it has a list of reflexology associations which is very useful. It contains a beautiful and detailed map of the hand and feet reflexology areas. The most beautiful thing about the book is the well done illustrations, explaining every single step. After picking up this book you will be tempted to try reflexology on yourself and others. It has been researched well and also contains reflexology techniques for various ailments. A very useful buy. Indian Head Massage made simple, 09 Jan 2008
If you are new to the world of massage or just starting out with a general interest in the subject, THIS is the book to get.....
It's consise clear and fully explains the subject in great depth, pictures are included to aid understanding and the text is well written
One can read it from cover to cover or dip in to find interesting new techniques. All aspects of massage are covered from being able to relieve stress for family and friends to setting up a business
Enjoy! clear, concise, easy to use book for any level, 16 Mar 2001
This book is well laid out and covers all aspects of indian head massage, including business management and client care. For the student and tutor alike, clear, concise diagrams which relate to the anatomy and physiology aspect of the subject will be a great help. The budding amateur looking to expand into the business world who may need help distinguishing contra-indications, would also find this book most helpful. All in all, a good book to learn from and a most useful reference.
Deep Tissue Massage: A Visual Guide to Techniques., 12 Aug 2005
very quick delivery; Fantastic book, I have already got the DVDS and this is a great in-depth manual to go with them. well worth investment

I was recommended this book so bought it without seeing as doing Thai reflexology and am interested in the feet. It is ok the pisctures are a bit wishy washy and the texts even with glasses on a bit hard to read and see clearily on diagrams. The book is ok and makes some intresting points but it would be better if in colour and larger printer and better type for text. But ok for price and got some interesting reasons to why yoru feet are the way they are.

clear, conscise and helpfull, 14 Apr 2008
Received my book this morning and must say that I am very impressed. I am a holistic therapist and am always looking for 'safe' ways to help other people and myself.
The layout of the book is very clear. A quick reference point: Good diagrams to indicate painful areas and the correcting muscles and page numbers at the end of the book. I also have the Trigger point therapy work book by Claire Davies. This book by Donna Finando is not only clearer BUT gives clear instruction (with diagrams) on how to locate the muscles and then how to stretch the muscles. This is very important in my view, if the muscle has been in spasm for a period, it needs to be stretched. Just working on the trigger points is not enough.
I do 'Spring Forest Qigong' regularly to keep myself in good shape because I am a back pain sufferer myself. I could very quickly identify which muscles to work on and what exercise to use. I can already feel the benefit. If you wanted just one book on Trgger Point Therapy, then you should get this one
massage trigger points self care, 29 Aug 2006
as a Sports and holistic therapist i often get presented with muscular pain that other medical professionals will not touch as they belive its to trivia. but patients do not feel to trivia and are in actual pain. with this book not only has it helped me while studying its also a good reference for professionals to use and advise patients to alieviate pain and tender areas. this book is well presented with areas of the body presented together with advise on how to aliviate the trigger. it is advisable not to use as a self care guide as the authour presums some advanced training within manaual massage therapy but for a student or therapist wanting a quick guide a very useful tool wouldnt be without it.

A very enjoyable referance book. Innovative and different., 21 Nov 1999
Many have heard of Reflexology but few have heard of Precision Reflexology. Precision Reflexology is a specific style of treatment. The treatment requires a great deal of input from the therapist and involves connecting with the client on a body energy level. One of the main aims of the treatment is, therefore, to connect and harmonise the body. One important aspect of this type of Reflexology is that it is a very interactive treatment. The practitioner allows the client to take what they need in a physical, spiritual, mental and emotional sense. The practitioner is simply giving the body an opportunity to heal itself. A technique used in Precision Reflexology that sets it apart is called 'Linking'. Linking involves connecting two or three reflexes together to provide definition and strength to the treatment. This is a very innovative book. It is the only book, at this time, to focus completely on Precision Reflexology. It is separated into very easy to read and understand sections. The book covers, amongst other topics, treating the body's framework (skeleton), communication, nourishment, vital energy, reproduction and protection. All the sections have diagrams, pictures and case studies to help explain the chapter. I think you would be interested in this book if you are a) currently a practitioner interested in improving the depth and intensity of your treatment b) if you are interested in Reflexology and would like to know more about the therapy (perhaps before visiting a therapist) and c) if you are interested in becoming a therapist and want to know a little more about different techniques. It is, in all, a very entertaining and informative book. I highly recommend it.
