Fantastic book - a must buy, 20 Mar 2008
I often read reviews and wonder if all the enthusiastic prose is really accurate - in this case it is. Penelope Quest has written something akin to an encyclopedia of Reiki, in a straight forward and easy to read way. It is a comprehensive work, practical and pragmatic, whilst communicating how wonderful the Energy is, and many ways in which you can work with it.
I initially read this book after completing my 1st Degree to increase my understanding and reaffirm what I'd been taught. I've since completed my 2nd Degree and use it for reference, and have recommended it to others. That is the best indicator of how good a book really is - if you'd recommend it to your friends, it's definitely a great book!
For a regular practitioner it's a fantastic resource. For someone just starting on their Reiki path, you couldn't do any better than buy this book to help you reach your potential. Brilliant. For all Reiki Masters and their students, 19 Feb 2008
There are many books on the market on this subject, this one has a balance that gives the holistic view of how Reiki developed from Japan and made it's way into the West. I recommend this book to all my students and use it constantly as reference during reiki courses. Fantastic book, 17 Feb 2008
I have bought many many reiki books since my reiki attunements. This is one of the best by far. It contains all I felt I needed to know. Explained properly. I've read it cover to cover several times. Well written and interesting Essential reference, 31 Aug 2007
This is an excellent book that I'd recommend as a must-have on your bookshelf. It answered all of my questions and is written in a friendly style. The instructions are clear and comprehensive, covering everything from what to expect in your Level 1 attunement through to how to set yourself up as a Reiki practitioner. Not just a 'how-to' book it covers ethics, spiritual growth and a chapter on 'creative uses' of the skill.
I consider the included lists of resources and reading recommendations valuable as this makes this book a good start for anyone interested in further Reiki research. Read Penelope's quest, 15 Aug 2003
This is essential reading for Reiki friends of all levels - Masters included. Penelope writes in a lucid style that is compelling as well as informative. She invites you to think about your own beliefs and experiences, whilst also listening to what she has to say. She is never judgemental about the variety of different approaches to Reiki that abound now. Her text is enormously helpful as a guide to teaching Reiki and I have added some of her suggestions on 'extras' to my practice. Everything you need to know about Reiki is there somewhere. I will recommend this book to my Reiki students and it will never be far from my side. Buy it!

A new perspective, 22 May 2008
If you are suffering from any health issues this book can , if you will let it, change your life. If you follow the recommendations and carry out the flushes until your liver is clear you will have a sense of clarity that you might possibly never have had before.
With every flush you will feel better , your body will function more efficiently and your mind will be like crystal.
The process is painless and easily completed , the only 'hard' part is swallowing the olive oil and grapefruit juice but
once you have done it once the mind is ready and the second time it will be easier.
Andreas Moritz has done a great job of presenting this ancient healing technique in a clear and concise fashion fit for the modern times
in which we live.

Read This Book With An Open Mind, 29 Aug 2008
This really is a fabulous book full of truthful information that will really help you to take control of your health, I have done my own research into the corruption that is absolutely rampant between the medical community & the pharmaceutical industry & find that Kevin Trudeau speaks the truth, don't let the negative comments about Kevin Trudeau & this book put you off, this book covers a lot of positive ground for those open minded & intelligent enough to absorb it. Your health is your responsibility & this book by Kevin Trudeau will help you to regain control.. Some people have made derisory comments about Kevin Trudeau's character & go on to say that the claims he makes in his books are unsubstantiated & that he is not medically qualified.. It's true that he's not medically qualified in the traditional sense, but you have to remember that the people making these negative comments are also not medically qualified & that their opinion that Kevin Trudeau's claims are unsubstantiated is just that, their opinion & not fact... I repeat, it's their personal opinion & not factual... if you take the time to do your own research & don't let the blanket negativity of others towards this book & Kevin Trudeau put you off then you will find that most of what Kevin Trudeau says is actually substantiated by the Holistic Health Movement & also from within the Medical Community & from Medical research. A good place to start your research is with the relationship between acidosis of the human body & degenerative diseases, may I also suggest that you look up an Italian Oncologist by the name of Dr Simoncini.... if you care about your health & are frustrated by the lack of progress at curing diseases by Traditional Pharmacology then you owe it to yourself to read this book......

Avoid, 28 Mar 2008
This is a self-published book by someone with no medical or biological background and the unsubstantiated content reflects it. To anyone who's thinking of spending their money, look the author up on wikipedia first.
Everyone Should Read This Book!, 13 Feb 2008
This is a book that contains vital information everyone should be aware of. It's certainly made me very aware of what I eat and even more anti-drug than I was before. It's all about the money.
How about serialising this book and showing it on prime time TV instead of Eastenders!!
good book but underated, 11 Feb 2008
This book is very good. I think that if you have an open mind you will gain a lot from it. There were a few things I was not sure about so did additional research bvut on the whole most of this makes good sense. He is not doing himself any favours by sugguesting you go to his website where you have to subscribe to but all the information you can find in other sources. His advice is very similar to that goven by Anthony Robbins in his health workshops.

Feeding The Whole Family, 09 Dec 2004
Whole Foods Recipes For Babies, Young Children And Their Parents continues to be one of the best "user friendly", family oriented guides to nutritious, delicious, meal-time cookbooks available today. From Whole Grain Baby Cereal, Sage and Rosemary Seitan Sandwiches, and Tempeh Tacos, to Mustard Green Salad with Tofu-Dill Dressing, Sweet Squash Corn Muffins, and Carrot Cake with Apricot Glaze, Feeding The Whole Family offers a wealth of recipes that are as fun to make in the kitchen as they are to consume at the family dining table!
Eating to help your body help itself, 27 Mar 2000
If you believe that we are what we eat, and you are willing to try to help yourself back to good health through wise eating, this book is worth a read. The model used to present information is the classic Chinese one, where a liver isn't just the biological organ itself, but very much more. If you have a western mind-set, but are prepared to open yourself to other, historically proven methods of understanding your own body, you should have little difficulty following the clear ideas given here. The varied, interesting recipes put the fun back into healthy eating too. If you are an acupuncturist, you could certainly build on the solid foundation of knowledge contained in this book, helping your clients to support and participate in their own recovery.

HONC if you love life!, 19 Oct 2007
I'm having a Tee-shirt made up with that motto. HONC being a mneumonic I found in this book. I'm reading for a BSc (Hons)Herbal Medicine and am finding this book incredibly useful. I would recommend it to anyone who is a little shaky on biochemistry and prefers their information delivered in English!
Herbal medicine students, 10 May 2007
This book is excellent if you are studying herbal medicine and need more info about constituents. It is very easy to read and understand.
Great for study, 18 Oct 2005
Brilliant little book for students of phytotherapy who need to understand the chemistry of herbs. this book covers the main phytochemicals found in herbs and describes their chemical structure, characteristics and examples of the herbs that contain them. Perfect for essays entitled "with a view to its composition, describe the actions of..." Detailed, yet easy to read, it is a brilliant study aid.
Fantastic !!, 05 Feb 2005

Buy it!
Excellent introduction into the 5 Elements Theory, 10 Sep 2000
The British School of Shiatsu-Do have chosen this book as our Year 1 course book for students. It presents students with a clear introduction of the 5 Elements approach to Oriental Medicine. With references to Feng Shui and Qi Gong, the student can gain further insight into how the 5 Element theory premeates the the Eastern approach to live. For the general reader it is easy to read, in some areas thought provoking, and can start you on a different road to life!
superbly written, brilliant insights into ancient philosophy, 27 Feb 2000
this book contains absolute gems of information and insight into this ancient healing tradition. It really is an inspirational read. I love it!

A good place to start your research is with the relationship between acidosis of the human body & degenerative diseases, may I also suggest that you look up an Italian Oncologist by the name of Dr Simoncini.... if you care about your health & are frustrated by the lack of progress at curing diseases by Traditional Pharmacology then you owe it to yourself to read this book......

an extraordinary book, 01 Apr 2007
this is an incredibly full book about a lost art - direct communication with nature.
in section one buhner looks at the scientific documentation of the neural activity of the heart and the non-linear aspects of nature. in section two he takes a more poetic and practical approach to opening your perception of nature using the heart.
an incredibly liberating book - the exercises are wonderful and can have extraordinary effects in reopening you to the world we live in.
a rich, dense experience of a book written from lived experience that repays a long slow relationship with it.

Lots of practical tips not just on Reiki but Meditation and Visulisation, 28 Feb 2008
This is the first book I bought written by Penolope Quest and it was a fantasitc read not only has it got some great advice and information on Reiki there are also many visulisations and meditations that are easy to follow. Although some of the work you do have to have Reiki II most of it as been altered for Reiki I practitioners.
A very good read I would thouroughly recommend it.
self healing plus, 25 Oct 2004
Not only does Penny quests book give us excellent ways in which to use and develop reiki skills, the book is full of energy healing and wise advice. Pennys usual informative, clear style is evident in this her third book. Her honest and humorous comments throughout give us a human point of view about healing processes which are so often missing in many self help books. Her facts are thorough, her research and knowledge about her subject vast. This book becomes a handbook to use daily and excellent work of reference for any reiki practitioner and master. There are detailed sections on Japanese techniques, reiki in the environment and everyday life and plenty of techniques to choose from so that you can tailor make your journey into healing personalised and effective.Easy to read and follow I recommend this book to anyone who is seriously lighthearted about taking responsibilty for their well being and personal and spiritual development.

When i first saw this book i tought it would be a book for children but it isn't! It describes every constituents of medicinal plants and its structure. A very good book to understand a bit more of chemistry and fun to read. It requires a knowlowedge of chemistry (I am only 16 and understood it so it won't be hard to you). A very good reference and an encyclopedia of knowledge, buy it!
an extraordinary book, 01 Apr 2007
this is an incredibly full book about a lost art - direct communication with nature.
in section one buhner looks at the scientific documentation of the neural activity of the heart and the non-linear aspects of nature. in section two he takes a more poetic and practical approach to opening your perception of nature using the heart.
an incredibly liberating book - the exercises are wonderful and can have extraordinary effects in reopening you to the world we live in.
a rich, dense experience of a book written from lived experience that repays a long slow relationship with it.
highly recommended
Nice Book, 08 Mar 2008
Good introductory book for beginners but it has some drawbacks. On page 73 there is a grave mistake where the author describes not to eat red meat especially pork. I would expect anyone to know that pork is NOT red meat, which undermined everything else in my own opinion.
Apart from that it is a detailed book that gives interesting overviews about herbalism and is well structured. What I would have loved to see is a)an image to every herb, if not in colour then at least described [i.e colour of berries or flowers] and b) a rough guide as to where these plants can be found [i.e near rivers, fields etc], without this it will still be necessary to find this information someplace else as the lack of images and descriptions could lead to false identifiation.
Despite the above, I would still recommend this book as it is very informative and has easy to follow instructions. It won't be money wasted.
An uplifting read, and an indespensible Health directory., 02 Mar 2006
A great Herbal!
This book ~ known to me as the 'New Holistic Herbal'~ is an excellent book. Writen by an author who obviously knows his subject in great depth, and is also able to convey the wisdom which goes beyond his own thorough knowledge to the wisdom contained by the herbs themselves; in a clear and engaging manner & with great integrity.
It covers all aspects of Herbal medicine needed to begin quickly to gain both your own instinctive knowledge of the subject, as well as the factual necessities to understand how to treat yourselves and others. The one and only shortcoming I found, was the relatively short encyclopedia of herbs at the end section of the book, which left me wanting for more. It is an extremely good introduction to Herbal medicine and natural healing / healing in harmony with our bodies/ nature (holistic healing/medicine in other words!). It also touches upon other forms of plant therapy such as use of essential oils, a good introduction to the use of flower remedies, & one or two examples of Eastern Herbal uses.
What more could you ask for? A book with depth, integrity & easy to understand by the lay person.. A great book & obviously a work of love, which will foster any latent passion for herbal medicine and natural forms of healing (and infact for this reason DID leave me wanting for more!). An uplifting read, and an indespensible Health directory, which will give you knowledge not only of the herbs needed to treat almost any ailment, but also an understanding, in great depth, of the workings of the human body and its systems, as well as touching, not insignificantly, on our place within 'the system' as a whole.
Many thanks to David Hoffman for the indespensible knowledge his book has conveyed to me, as well as the 'unbelievably' succesful applications I have experienced through his guidance over a period of over 10 years during which I have refered to this book constantly.

I've since completed my 2nd Degree and use it for reference, and have recommen | | |
