Brilliant, 05 Aug 2008
I am pregnant with my mum and stepfathers second grandchild and I bought this as a christmas present for them to be given as a gift from the new baby. I had a look through it this morning when it arrived and I think it is absolutely brilliant. I think every mother, father and set of grandparents should be given one. It would be nice to have one for Aunties and Uncles too though. I can't wait for the finished book.
really great way to save my grandparents memories, 20 Nov 2007
I am really thrilled with it, the questions are great, and I have already started asking some. Unfortunately my grandparents are no longer able to write in it themselves, but this means that I have the perfect excuse to spend some extra time with them.

As ever Miriam is brilliant. I'm getting this book for each set of my children's Grandparents, who have done so much to help my wife and I with the amazing but tough task of parenting. As a parent and headteacher, I'm really interested in the impact that Grandparents have in the family and community. Many of the parents at my school could not cope without Granny and Grandpa. In an age where the government is pushing for 8am-6pm Day Care, I'm increasingly interested in the role grandparents can play in teaching and caring for the new generation. In 'traditional' societies grandparents are Elders and definitely to be respected. But Grandparents need to be appreciated and rewarded. I think the real 'Sure Start' is involving Granny and Grandpa!! Miriam celebrates the role of Grandparents! Bravo! A great lift the flap book, my 17m old loves pointing to the other animals and making the animal noises. Good, but not as good as ýWhereýs Spot?ý, 13 Jan 2005
Although 'Where's Spot' is my son's absolute favourite book, this did not meet with the same degree of enthusiasm. That's not to say he doesn't like it, just not as much as 'Where's Spot?' ... maybe it's the repetitive text in that one or maybe the novelty value was worn down, but both 'Spot goes to the Farm' and 'Spot Visits his Grandparents' seem to work as a "side-dish" for him i.e. only good alongside 'Where's Spot', though does read both more often than most of his other books. All in all, I'd say buy this book, but with 'Where's Spot?'

I am assured by the person who this was for that it was an excellant gift with good advice. Even though tips a bit obvious - Did stop grandad saying a few things to his daughter that without the gentle nudge of this little book he would have!!! Myself the 'purchaser' was a little disapointed at the size and presentation ..............

Great intro for family and friends, 08 Nov 2006
I bought this book as my parents wanted to find out what they could do to support my husband and I through the adoption process. Since buying a copy for them I have been back and bought another 6 copies for all our relatives and closest friends, as it's relevant to anyone who will be involved in the life of the children we adopt.
It would be good to go into a bit more depth on some topics, but as an introduction it's great, and will give the people we are closest to a good appreciation for the process we are going through, but more importantly for the kind of issues that the children we adopt may face, and what role they can play in their lives.

Hilarious!, 14 Feb 2007
This book is absolutely brilliant - funny and warm and original and packed with jokes. Anyone who's a parent or a grandparent will find themselves laughing with recognition all the way through. But you don't need to be a parent to love this book - you just need to have a sense of humour.
dreadful , 28 Dec 2006
When my mum looked after our children I bought this book for her as a thank you. I read some of it to myself I decided that it was so badly written I would rather give her nothing than give her something so appalling. This book is not the least bit witty, funny or entertaining and I cannot see how it got published.... unless of course Joan Pritchett has contacts in the literary world ... oh yes checking the blurb I see that she does. Don't buy this book - it is dreadful - I bought my mum some chocolates instead.

It's a wonderful way to record a grandparent's life., 07 Mar 1999
This book is an excellent way to record the lives of grandparents. It provides for detailed descriptions not just of life events, but of the personality of the person and of his/her outlook on life. I research my family history, and I have looked at several different versions of this type of book. A Grandparent's Book seems to provide the most complete picture of a person. You don't have to wait to be a grandparent or only give it to a grandparent. It works for parents, too. I have given it to my children's grandparents, and I am purchasing two for my husband and myself to complete for our children and grandchildren.
Wonderful and a really interesting sorce for family bios, 09 Dec 1998
As a student in Engilish class preforming research on my family this book gave insight on my dead gradmother who I had never known . I wish this was a more populized book and that I could pick it up in any book store. Every one I know who has seen it wishes they could give one to thier grandparent or parent for future use especially for parents with only one living relitive. A stuning book and a wonderful idea . I'm glad that thier aare people with this much kindness who can think of what the most valuable gift a grandparent could leave a Grandchild.

Very American, 23 Mar 2008
Think this book is a very good idea and wonderful thing for a grandmother to give. However I found that the book cater's more for American market rather than U.K. Bought this as I could not find U.K. version
great present, 19 Jan 2008
I gave this to my mum to fill in on the birth of my son, she has started to fill out all the stuff that I want him to remember when he is much older and then things that no doubt I have forgotten. I think my mum will need more pages though!
A great purchase
This is a great family heirloom, 06 Nov 2003
I had my grandmother fill out this book and both my mother and I found out things we never knew. It asks questions that are great and lets you fill in stories and even pictures. I have given this to both of my grandmothers and my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law as well.
A great family history, 10 Jul 2002
I brought this book for my grandmother to fill in for me. It has questions you always want to ask and never think to. It gives your grandmother a chance to share her history with her family for generations. It is easy to fill in, with many questions that help prompt memories. This is one book, I am proud to have on my shelf and will be handed down for generations to come. Excellent Family tree resource material.
