Good Nutritional Information but..., 26 Jun 2008
be aware that some of recipes have a lot of added sugar. Not good if you're on any kind of diet!
handy helper, 28 Mar 2008
This book is a handy helper with lots of great ideas. The recepies are simple to follw and not too footery. I wish they would advise which dishes could be frozen and there are no top tips to alter the meals - as they do in the magazing - but this is still a gem of a book and a perfect size to have in the kitchen.
My Favourite Recipe Book, 16 Mar 2008
Great, easy to follow recipe's that are guaranteed to be both filling and tasty. I highly recommend the Pumpkin and Bean Spaghetti (pp 66-67)!
The only down side is that this book - like many recipe books - expects you to be feeding a family. I would have liked to have seen more recipe's aimed at serving 2 or fewer people.
Sterling Stuff, 21 Nov 2007
This little book was great. Had plenty of choice, book was well set out and the recipies were very easy to follow and the majority were relatively quick to make (vital for when you get home from work starving and could eat your body weight in food before turning on the kettle nevermind the oven). Having tried two of the recipies on the weekend (and not having killed anyone as a result) I declare this book a success!!
A great lil' cook book, 28 Feb 2007
There's a whole series of these '101...' recipe books from Good Food Magazine, and they're all bang on the money. The lay-out is concise (there's a recipe on one page, and a nice, clear photo of what the dish should look like on the adjacent page) and the recipes are simple and easy to follow; no single recipe is broken down into more than 4 steps. Of course, I haven't tried them all, but those I have were all successful ('Baked Buttery Squash' is my most recent favourite). What's more, you hardly notice the fact that they're all low fat.
I wouldn't say this is the only cook book you'll ever need, but it's definitely a worthy addition to anyone's collection regardless of whether you're looking to lose weight or not.

Good advice , 04 Aug 2008
A book written with plenty of detail. I recommend it along with the much talked about book 'SACRED SPACE' by ELIZABETH BAILEY, for the whole complement of beating Depression, Anxiety and Stress.
Beating Stress. Anxiety & Depression, 22 May 2008
This is an excellent book for anyone suffering from stress, anxiety and/or depression. The authors thoroughly cover all aspects and open your eyes to new ways of living a happy and full life. With their own personal experiences you as a reader feel you can really relate to the authors.
what a wonderful book......., 14 May 2008
I can't thank the authors enough - I've read the book from cover to cover and it is going to make such a difference to both mine and my family's life. The information and advice they offer are going to be invaluable and I would recommend this book to anyone who has suffered from stress and anxiety.
Ground-breaking book, 13 May 2008
This book tells it like it is - and gives a thorough assessment of the available - and what should be available - sources of help. The writers know their subject from the inside as well as being highly experienced in their fields. A must for sufferers from depression or anxiety and their families, and a wake-up call of interest to all working in this field.

A must-read book for anyone suffering from depression, 13 May 2008
This is an extremely helpful book, both for sufferers and their families, and also health professionals.
Janet and Jane have exposed a number of shortcomings of the conventional approaches of the medical and mental health services. They guide the individual towards seeking the best treatment in an easy to understand manner.
They expose the dangers of mis-diagnosis and inappropriate medication prescription and their experiences reveal the depths to which this can subject intelligent, professional people. Their stories do, however, show how it is possible (and necessary!) to obtain the correct advice and how important diet and therapy can be.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Easy healthy meals on a budget!, 04 Aug 2008
I got a copy of this book in the old cover style and it has definitely been a lifesaver.
All the recipes are easy, you don't need any fancy equipment and the dishes range from incredibly cheap to something to splash out on (Like the vodka chili!!) although the majority of them will definitely not break the bank.
Although it is a student cookbook I'd recommend it to anyone as some meals are impressive enough to serve to guests, but it also has fun family meals as well. All quantities are for 2 people so easy to divide or multiply up as well. I also like the snacks and standbys section at the end which has great lunchtime recipes.
This book was written by combining the Student cookbook and the Vegetarian student cookbook, so there are a lot of vegetarian recipes and a fair amount of recipes which are adaptable for vegetarians and non vegetarians. I found a few old favourite recipes in here but the grand majority are new dishes I'd never tried before and that made it fun as well.
Another thing I like about the book is each recipe is rated on how long it takes to cook and prepare, which is useful if you are starving. And the instructions are simple and concise so you don't get put off, without being patronising.
Best Buy for Student, 07 Oct 2007
Just purchased this book for my daughter who has just started uni. Although still living at home she has taken a sudden interest in cooking making me loads of luvverly dishes. The book is well laid out with easy instructions and the recipes are full of healthy ingredients which are easily accessed. I love the twist at the end of the book on how to make a banana sandwich!! I now know that when my daughter does move into accommodation she will be able to be self sufficient without pigging out on takeaways. Excellent stocking filler for all students

Fantastic Book....again!, 19 Aug 2008
This book is really easy to read, clear and informative. The juicing plan is outlined well and I feel, much better than his previous book 7lbs in 7 days (although I still loved that one!). This plan is more easy to follow and fit into family life. The basic principles are the same; juice/smoothie for breakfast and lunch, and soup for dinner. This then extends after 7 days to a more flexible plan juice/smoothie for breakfast and lunch for 5 days a week then just replace the soup to a healthy meal.
Great!
Best yet!, 25 Jun 2008
I'm a big, although initially reluctant fan of Jason Vale's books. I say reluctant, because like many readers it took me a while to get used to his idiosyncratic writing style. BUT since first reading Slim4Life 2 years ago I've revolutionized my health and dropped 2 dress sizes in the process - without dieting.
This is the Juice Master's best book so far, packed full of inspiration and eye-opening insights, and most importantly, a totally fabulous programme that will have you juicing and eating yourself slim, healthy, energetic and full of bounce - for LIFE!
(And as a small and really unimportant bonus, this one is better written than some of the other books.)
I'm juiced !, 11 Jun 2008
As a fellow author who writes books on holistic living, I've mentioned Jason in my books, when I wrote Imperfectly Natural Woman I had read 71bs in 7 days but confess I didn't actually get round to doing it ! Better late than never though, I now have the 'juicemaster' bug. Good old Jason has changed my life. I attended a 'juicy retreat' lost almost a stone in weight and best of all have kept the weight off since coming home. How ? no diets, calorie counting or misery, just having Jasons 'turbo charger' smoothie for brekkie and juicing daily, best of all we never buy fruit juice or cordials anymore, the kids know the fruit bowl will always contain fruit and they help themselves. Its the best way of sneaking veg into them too, the little ones have no idea mums sneaking in broccoli, courgettes, celery and cucumber into their tropical smoothies. The recipes are brilliant and this is the easiest way to lose weight and stay slim but best of all its about health and its incredible how we can promote drugs across the media and yet its seen as 'propoganda' if we make claims about the anti-cancer healing properties of juicing your fruit and veg. Get juicy, you won't regret it...
P.S Jason is also an amazing 'life coach' he wouldn't call himself that but he sures does sort out addictions and help people decide whats important in their life.
Exceptional Book, 08 Jun 2008
The latest book from the inspirational Jason Vale is nothing short of excellent. This book is punchy, easy to read and bursting with superb information about the food and drug industry. The book really, really inspires you to help yourself and really makes you evaluate what you put in your mouth and the effect this has on your body. The 7 day launch programme is a breeze, with superb tasting smoothies and juices as well as nutritious and gorgeous soups and salads. The book is just superb and really has ignited my inner fire and got me looking and feeling on top of the world - Thank you Jason, you have done it agian!
Jason keeps the momentum going, 02 Jun 2008
Great book and easy to read (as are all Jason's books). The Juice Master has done it again by enthusing the reader with a great read. Most of the vital information on a juicing lifestyle was provided by his amazing first book slim for life but this book helps add new ideas/facts and recipes and helps keep the momentum going for all juicers and people that want to be healthier and fitter!

I used this book to diet 4 years ago. I enjoyed the food but not the results. Yes, I lost weight but it appears to have left me with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I had no such problems before spending 4 months on this diet. Just be aware, it may not agree with everyone
If you just interested in losing lots of weight fast this book is perfect., 18 Dec 2007
If you just interested in losing lots of weight fast stick to the induction phase only, your looking at 4 or 5 pounds a week. A month of hardcore induction Atkins (which isn't difficult after just expensive) and your looking a good stone and a half.
The entire thing could be stripped down to a fifth by removing all of the drama (real life stories) and the final three steps of the diet. This book need to lose weight. Needless to say it works.

I am sorry, but as a dieter of over 25 years, this booksays it all. Basically, all diets work. Why? Because they focus on keeping the insulin levels down. The Atkins is no different. However, unlike othe diets I have tried, Atkins doesn't count calories, and this has to be a good thing. I have weighed and counted calories for years. Can you imagine eating all you want, providing that it does not include carbs? It does work. I lost a stone in three weeks and was really difined. It is claimed to be the number one diet. I have to confess something. A friend of mine was raving about the Atkins diet and she has lost a lot of weight. It didn't make HEALTHY sense to me. About five years ago I went through an addiction to working out and I was able to lose A LOT of weight, maybe the fact that I was in the gym everyday caused me to eat less as well. However, I noticed the weight creeping on again and no matter how hard I tried to lose the 12lbs that I gained I could not shift it. Low calorie diets failed because I was always hungry and all the other ones seemed so complicated with the points and grams etc etc . So................................ I decided to buy the Atkins book. I have finished my 14 day induction today and have just weighed myself. I have lost 7lbs in 14 days. Admittedly I know a lot of it is water but what a motivator to keep me going. The best thing about the Atkins is there is NO HUNGER, NONE, NO STOMACH CRAMPS, NO DIZZY SPELLS, NO CRAVING SOMETHING SWEET, NO THROWING CAUTION TO THE WIND AND RUNNING OUT TO BUY A CHOCOLATE BAR. I have to seriously consider incorporating this into my lifestyle.

You Can Be Thin: The Ultimate Programme to End Dieting... Forever
The approach taken by this book is highly effective. There is nothing else like it out there. Marisa Peer has produced what I can only describe as a work of art. This book is helping me to lose weight and gain health at a remarkable pace. The spin offs from the positive message in this book are also benefitting me in other areas of my life.
Seriously, this is the one you need.
You can be thin, 12 Aug 2008
Having been off my feet for the past 6months I had put on about a stone and bought the book hoping it would help me lose the excess weight but it not only helped me it confirmed a lot of things I have been nagging my family about for the past 2/3 years like not eating any wheat products and also the fact that humans are not designed to digest milk and milk products. After reading the book I did further research on the internet and there is plenty of evidence to support this.
So thank you Marissa we are almost a wheat and dairy free house, still trying to convince my 15yr old daughter of the health benefits but not quite there yet!!!!! Oh and losing weight too
It seems to be working, 12 Aug 2008
I bought this book with hypnosis CD after reading the many positive reviews on Amazon. I have to say that reading the book has put me off drinking cows milk for life. I felt queazy for a whole day after reading what Marisa had to say about it. I have also stopped eating bread as it bloats me. I eat wheat, milk and gluten free bread now and feel much better, plus soya milk if I have to have some.
I have listened to the CD every night for just over two weeks now and find I am forgetting about food for hours on end during the day. Sometimes I eat my last meal at 4pm, work in a bar all night then go straight to bed without the usual kebab I used to have. I used to think about food 24x7, but no more. I eat healthy food now (easy to have lots of salads because it's summer, I suppose), small meals fill me up, and I don't eat crisps or snacks out of boredom any more.
I've lost about 6lb in 2 weeks with no exercise. I'd rather it was slow and steady like this. This is a life-changing book. It took me years to put on the extra weight I'm carrying, so if it takes a while for it to come off then that's fine.
The 'moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips' warning is enforced by the CD and I find I can avoid snacks by visualising myself on holiday in October with a much slimmer and more comfortable body than I have now. I'd rather have that than eat snacks that give just moments of pleasure. See? It works.
Review of Marisa Peer's book, 10 Aug 2008
It took me 2 days to read this amazing and life-changing book. It took me only a couple of hours to put Marisa's recommendations into practice! It is compelling, well written and very adaptable. The recommendations not only work, they are pure common sense and will stop people from dieting to try and lose weight permanently. The CD is easy to listen to and inculcates in your brain in a remarkable but easily understood way, how to lose weight, lose food addiction and be happy with your body and be healthy. Great work!

Great book - be warned that you won't want to touch dairy products again, 05 Aug 2008
This is a great book and really helps motivate you to think correctly and positively about food. The motivational part of the book is fantastic and is worth the cover price alone.
However, it is not fair to say that it is a 'no diet' book - further into the book Marisa tries to put you off drinking milk, eating grains etc. If you read this book, you will probably feel sick every time you try to eat dairy products as Marisa tells you a lot of gory details about milk production. Personally, I thought it was inconsistent that she was 'against' dairy but not eggs and meat. The same arguments against dairy also apply to eggs and meat - e.g. they are swimming with bacteria and bad for digestion. I'm glad that the book has made me want less milk in my diet (I've already stopped having it in tea and coffee) but as a vegetarian I'm not sure I wanted to be put off dairy products for life - I know it isn't the healthiest food in the world, but it is an important part of my diet.
Another area I'm not convinced about is that grains such as flour and rice are bad for you - for example, rice is a major part of the diet for many of the healthiest people on earth such as the Japanese.
It is no reflection on the author, but one frustration with the book was the editing. The book is full of spelling and grammatical errors - I spotted easily 50 errors without trying. You have to read some sentences repeatedly to work out the meaning, as some grammar or words are missing.

Very, very good, 19 Aug 2008

The only cook book you really need, 02 Sep 2008
All the reveiws can't be wrong....and they aren't. This simple book is truly fab. So many different recipes packed in between its pages. Easy to follow and lots of tips in addition to the recipes. It will now be the cornerstone of my kitchen.
The BEST cookery book EVER, 13 Aug 2008
I just received my new book (above title) and am positively drooling at the mouth.
The recipes seem extremely easy and very tasty and I cant wait to try it, especially the meal planner bit.
Extremely useful book, 23 Jul 2008
This is a great book for people who need to feed a family and are running low on inspiration. There are lots of dinner recipes in here (including a veggie section) and a selection of "quick fix meals" for when you are in a hurry. The book would be useful to a beginning cook because the recipes are very simple and not at all intimidating, but would also be useful to an experienced cook because of the sheer number of ideas. A more experienced cook could easily adapt the basic recipes with herbs and spices to make them a bit more sophisticated and exciting. I think this is a book that I'll be using a lot.
AMAZING, 26 May 2008
this is an incredibly good book for everyone; I'm a vegetarian but there were plenty of recipes for me anyway.
A very good buy which I highly recommend.
I can cook!!!, 22 May 2008
I have very little money, a tiny kitchen, a few saucepans (that have lost all their non-stick!) and no fancy gadgets, I don't even have a garlic press! So this book could have been written for my family. Its excellant, plenty of fantastic tips and no nonsence recipes that my boys loved and didn't leave behind a mountain of washing up!
This is great book for anyone who already loves cooking, but especially for those who think its easier to shove some turkey twizzlers in the oven!

Matt Pucci Good advice , 04 Aug 2008
Jenifer Littman MBE Chair The Wishing Tree Trust A must-read book for anyone suffering from depression, 13 May 2008
This is an extremely helpful book, both for sufferers and their families, and also health professionals.
Peter N Ralph Easy healthy meals on a budget!, 04 Aug 2008
Excellent stocking filler for all students Fantastic Book....again!, 19 Aug 2008
(And as a small and really unimportant bonus, this one is better written than some of the other books.) I'm juiced !, 11 Jun 2008
Most of the vital information on a juicing lifestyle was provided by his amazing first book slim for life but this book helps add new ideas/facts and recipes and helps keep the momentum going for all juicers and people that want to be healthier and fitter! to the negative people...., 29 Aug 2008
I keep reading about negative stuff about the diet but do u not think to yourselves that for thousands of years man lived on meat and veg alone. They didn't have bread then and yet they survived. So are you saying that because we have all these luxuaries now, we have to eat them to be healthy? I think not! Dangerous diet, 08 Aug 2008
This book is a main component to my happiness and I highly recommend it if you feel like your overweight. This is the number one diet, 01 Apr 2006
All I say is, once you have achieved your target weight, you eat sensibly, introduce green leafy veg, and don't go back to eating sugary, starchy carbs. Well I was on of the sceptics but..........................., 25 Mar 2006
