a good collection of the funnier pictures from the website, 28 Dec 2008
This is a good sized collection of the the funnier pictures from the wesite. I thought it was really funny and useful as the website is very big and can be a pain to navigate to find the good pictures. The only issue I have with it is that some of the rudder captions fromt he website have been censored (for example ceiling cat is just watching you...not watching you do that thing).
Very, very funny..., 22 Nov 2008
If you're a fan of the icanhascheezburger network you'll know what to expect. If not, then you are in for a treat. Either way, this is a great stocking filler for cat lovers everywhere...
Great book, 01 Nov 2008
I bought this book and I must say it is a very good laugh and makes a brilliant gift or stocking feeler at Christmas.

Our cat is a genius, apparently!, 06 Nov 2007
My partner and I had a lot of fun with this book! It has four sections to 'test your cat's IQ'. A. Cat Observation Test; B. Cat Performance Test; C. Extra Credit; D. Credit Deductions. The second two sections were quite silly & amusing, with extra credit for walking on hind legs, and potential deductions for behaviour such as falling into the toilet. The observation test section awards points for how often your cat engages in certain behaviour such as licking after eating and sleeping in the same place. The performance test is short, and awards points according to your cat's reaction to certain actions such as rolling a ball on the floor and touching the inside hair of their ear. While we thought that most of the behaviour in the observation test would be merely a sign of a healthy kitty, we still had a laugh doing the whole test. And we are delighted to find that our kitty is apparently a genius after her very high score! A good fun book for any cat owner.
The concept and calculations work!, 29 Aug 2007
At first when I first saw it I thought `aw it`s probably just anothere stupid book trying to be funny and take the piss out of me and my cat` [mind my french], but when I read it through that same night, I was suprised to find that it had quite fullfilling tasks in it and that you could actually calculate your cats IQ by using formulae in the back. I started it on quite a few cats, but never actually got to the end because I didn`t bothere with silly questions like: `Does your cat keep his tail flat on the floor while eating` and `Does he enjoy being touched on the nose and on the back`... See! that is just dumb! It`s like saying that if you sleep on your right side you are more intelligant than people who sleep on thier left side. Silly see; but all in all, I enjoyed it.
Fun little book, 27 Apr 2007
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't quite what I expected, as most of the IQ test is made up of observing your cat doing everyday things rather than actually giving them tasks. I enjoyed the task section and so did my cat, who went utterly bonkers when confronted with a piece of string, a pencil and a bell! This would make a nice little present for any cat owner.
Not much for your money - but interesting nevertheless, 30 Nov 1998
Very few pages for the price - but the amusing illustrations and stupidity of it all is worth a laugh! Ideal present for a member of Mensa with a cat!!

Want one cat book? This one!, 11 Jan 2007
As a canine behaviourologist, I often have trouble finding books that go deep enough for me, yet can be recommended to people who don't work with animals the way I do. I have a cat that thinks he's a dog (nothing to do with me), likes to break all the rules, and is nothing like the cats I've had before. If he was a dog, I'd be fine, but I really don't have a clue about cats! But this book helped me work out what was going on in his little brain. I have used most of the information in the book to improve my relationship with him, and cannot believe the difference it has made. Rather than treating him as a cute bimbo, I've recognised just how much is going on in there and started clicker training him. Cats can sit and fetch and walk to heel too! I strongly recommend all cat owners get a read of this book so we can learn to recognise the smarty-pants cats we have!
A renamed copy of How To Talk To Your Cat., 05 Jan 2002
If you already own Claire Bessants' excellant book How To Talk To Your Cat you will not need to buy this book as the only difference as far as I could see was the Prologue.
Great book for cat lovers, 23 Nov 2001
I bought this book as a gift for my mother but I'm keeping it! I already own dozens of 'cat books' and didn't think this one would add much to my knowledge - but it has & is probably the most useful book on cat behaviour I have read. It is not a glossy picture type of book, it's fairly detailed information for a cat owner who wants to understand how her cat's mind works, presented in an easily understood way. Claire Bessant is a very good writer with a relaxed but knowledgable style, and the book is full of excellent tips to improve the relationship you have with your cat.

Lovely story, 30 Nov 2008
A fellow parent once gave me some advice; "only read stories to your children that YOU enjoy....." That was great advice to give because children tend to like repetition and I would often be "stuck" on the same book for nights on end.
I love the Mog stories and I must admit, have fallen in love with Mog. This was the first book I purchased in the series and even now the boys are older (10 and 7) they still enjoy my reading it to them.
A classic book which I will keep forever!
A classic children's story, 28 May 2008
My daughter loves Mog, she has fast become a firm favourite at bedtime! I agree the pictures are dated, but I think that is part of Mog's charm! My little girl loves saying "Bother Bother BOTHER that cat". I will be buying some more for her to read, as I have read this one so much and want to know what other antics Mog gets up to!!!
Pretty good, classic early storybook, 26 May 2008
Excellent storybook for very young children - maybe 3 and 4 year olds, if not younger. Simple storyline backed up by colourful but twee illustrations, based on the dad-goes-out-to-work-while-mum-stays-at-home assumption. Dated, yes, but 3 and 4 year olds are hardly going to worry over much about that.
The easily grasped incident and situation are pitched just right for this age group.
Classic children's book, 02 Jan 2008
A wonderful funny story with simple illustrations that delights my daughter every time we read this.
Wonderful memories - wonderful book, 23 Nov 2007
I adore this book! Despite now being at university, I still love to read the Mog books to bring back happy memories and they never fail to move me! My children (when I have them) will certainly be introduced to the joys of Mog.

At last a man admits to being as mad about cats as women are!, 03 Jan 2009
This is a delightful story about the adventures of the numerous cats that pass through Tom's life and his reaction to them and their reaction to him and each other. As a besotted (male) owner of two cats it is good to know I'm not the only one out there. The book is not for the faint hearted; there is death (mice, birds), destruction (house, parts of the human body) and mayhem but also some loving and tender moments that make it a purrrrfectly delightful book to read. Obviously I smirked smugly when I read about the mayhem - my cats sat obediently on my lap and purred contentedly while I read this book (who am I kidding!). This book is a must for all cat lovers.
FABULOUS, 22 Nov 2008
I LOVED this book. I've recommended it to all my fellow feline lovers. Living with a secret cat man, I hope this book will help him come out ;0)
But on a serious note, it's a great read. SO many parallels to my own life with cats. Well written and funny.
best cat book ive ever read!! , 21 Nov 2008
Under The Paw has to be the best book about living with cats that Ive ever read!
Full of funny little things that cats get up to, and i can relate to Tom as i have three cats of my own that all get up to mischief.
A good fun light hearted book that will make you smile, but i warn you, you wont be able to put this one down once you start reading it!
Under The Paw- my all time favourite book!, 27 Oct 2008
Sharply observed and eloquently written, very funny, sometimes sad and totally unputdownable! A must read book for all cat lovers everywhere. I agree that you have to slow down towards the end, you just dont want it to end. The book draws you into their life, I just wanted to pack a bag and go and stay with Tom, Dee and these adorable kitties just for a while...
Cant wait for the sequel, bring it on, Tom.
for all cat lovers!, 19 Sep 2008
Finished this last night and would definitely recommend it to anyone who has had the pleasure of sharing their life with a cat. Funny observations a lot of which I could realte to although I only have the 2 cats (for now....) Highly recommended!

Great book...., 03 Jan 2009
This book is excellent when talking to your child and to other family members about Asperger Syndrome. It's fun, clear and concise - therefore easy to read and understand. Lovely book and well recommended!
Makes AS cuddly (almost), 21 Nov 2008
A wonderful book! I have an 8 year old son with AS and have probably given away 20 copies of this book to friends, family and the school classroom. It is particularly good for children as it makes unusual behaviour seem understandable and OK, rather than threatening or strange.
Full Of Humorous Pictures & Expressions on AS!, 16 Sep 2008
At first, I just wondered why cats appear in this book because I wasn't quite sure what cats had to do with Asperger Syndrome. But, on second thought, Kathy Hoopmann might help parents with AS kids increase their understanding. Even adults with AS are sure to see what AS is like because she illustrated AS not only by words but pictures! We can't put down this book just because it's for kids only!
If possible, I'd have liked her to explain in advance why she associated cats with AS.
a good positive book on aspergers, 08 Sep 2008
we love this book , it is the perfect bedtime reading for my aspie boy, the pictures are lovely and the text fits in with both our cats and my lad, :)
Cats do not have Asperger's Syndrome, 10 Aug 2008
I have Asperger's Syndrome and can not recommend this book.
This book has very little to do with what it is like to have Asperger's Syndrome and what it is like to live in a world of Neuro Typicals. Kathy Hoopmann is clueless about what is like being an Asperger and shows us Asperger's no respect or understanding.
On the whole, Cats are nothing like a person with Asperger's. The only thing that cats and Asperger's may have in common is that we both like our privacy. My expereince with cats is that they like to be cuddled and are extremely good at picking-up social cues which is one of the biggest problems us Asperger's have living in a Neuro Typical world.
As an Asperger, in my opinion this is one of the worst books on the subject of Asperger's Syndrome and is a complete waste of money.

I will be buying some more for her to read, as I have read this one so much and want to know what other antics Mog gets up to!!!

cat care , 16 Oct 2008
this is a good book 1 I would olso recommend is this 1 The Encyclopedia Of Cats both books are very informative the other book has more detail but this book is olso a must have as its easy to read and good digrams
A Good All Rounder, 26 May 2006
Although generally a very good book, it is a general care book. If you have a moggie or a standard cat, then by all means this is the book for you. However if you have a more speccialist breed of cat that is prone to health problems, then you may need to consider finding a book for that certain cat, as specialist items are not covered.
However if you're after a starter book, that will help you get to grips with care, then this book is very good.
A Solid All Rounder, 01 Dec 2001
This is a good all-round guide to owning a cat. It covers all the main areas including choosing a cat, raising kittens, grooming, health, feeding and diagnosing illness and injuries. It includes a wide variety of pictures which are a nice touch, but sometimes it seems that fewer pictures and greater details in areas such as pregnancy, kitten behaviour, travelling & relocating would enhance the book. For these reasons I feel that it deserves 4 stars rather than 5. It has everything most people will need, but just one star short of excellent.

An absolute must for all cat owners, 27 Aug 2001
This book is just great!!, Sarah gives a fascinating insight into the behaviour of the feline friend. Some great suggestions & solutions on cat problems - an absolute must for all cat lovers - wish I had bought it earlier!!
cat care , 16 Oct 2008
this is a good book 1 I would olso recommend is this 1 The Encyclopedia Of Cats both books are very informative the other book has more detail but this book is olso a must have as its easy to read and good digrams
A must for any cat lover, 06 Jun 2007
Absolutely brilliant.
One of those books that you pick up with little expectations and you find yourself laughing out loud on a bus or teary eyed in the dentist or where ever you happen to be when you are reading it.
A proper 'can't put down' book that has since been lent to 3 other cat loving friends, all of which enjoyed it as much as I did.
A Must for any Cat Lover!!!, 23 Feb 2007
I was given Enough to make a Cat Laugh by my Grandparents for my birthday, and took it on holiday to read. I am a slow reader(being dyslexic) but found this book to be such a funny and easy read that I had finished it record time. I then passed it on to my Hubby(a quick reader) who finished it in a matter of hours.
Since then this book has been round the whole family, who have all enjoyed it, as have all the other Deric Longden books we have purchased since. However, Enough to make a Cat Laugh remains the favourite.
I notice that Deric has another book out in May, which I have just pre-ordered, and look forward to reading what the cats have been upto since we last caught up.
Thank you Deric for you wonderful books, you put a smile in the hearts of many.
A Must Buy Book if ever there was one", 22 Sep 2005
I came across this book by accident - I wish all my accidents were this good! Deric Longden has an easy, readable style that immediately pulls you into his wonderful world and keeps you turning the pages for more. Accutely observed, but gentle humour, concerning those that are deeply loved - not least his wife and tribe of cats. This is not a book to read in public if you worry about being stared at. It is the perfect cure for the 'doldrums', although this does not mean that there are not some poignant moments. By this book - you won't regret it, and I bet you read it more than once!
This book made me laugh out loud!, 12 Dec 2001
A light hearted tale, (or should that be tail!)of an ordinary man, his wife and his family of eccentric cats. It's good to know I am not the only pet owner whose animals "talk". I would highly recommend Deric Longden's books to any one with a heart and a good sense of humour.
Laugh-out-loud humour, didn't want to put it down, 10 Dec 1999
I loved Deric's column in Your Cat magazine and, at the suggestion that this book would make good holiday reading, I took it on holiday. Each time I laughed out loud my room-mate asked me to 'read that bit out', so much so that she must know the book as well as I do! Deric wonders at his sanity as his cats speak in 'italics' and he understands that a look translates as 'you don't expect me to eat that, do you?'. I now find I talk to my own cats and they answer in a similar fashion! When I returned from my holiday I promptly went out and bought all his other books, each better than the one before!

a good collection of the funnier pictures from the website, 28 Dec 2008
This is a good sized collection of the the funnier pictures from the wesite. I thought it was really funny and useful as the website is very big and can be a pain to navigate to find the good pictures. The only issue I have with it is that some of the rudder captions fromt he website have been censored (for example ceiling cat is just watching you...not watching you do that thing).
Very, very funny..., 22 Nov 2008
If you're a fan of the icanhascheezburger network you'll know what to expect. If not, then you are in for a treat. Either way, this is a great stocking filler for cat lover | | |
