Eclectic Childrens rooms- an inspiring book., 20 May 2002
The book is a lavishly illustrated but sparcely texted volume. It has detailed photographs of children's rooms interspersed with Mary Engelbreit pictures and mottoes. The rooms may or may not have a theme but each one has an appealing style which has little or nothing to do with blindly following a completely coordinating collection by a designer. Although it doesn't give details on how to do everything that you might want to use from the book, it does have different projects in each chapter, many of which are easy enough to do with a child. I especially liked the stamped toybox; I already have the box and I'd been wondering what to do with it!
The book is heavily weighted in favour of girls; there are some boys rooms, but they tend to be more run-of-the-mill. It should still be a useful and well-perused book.
