Wonderful!, 14 Aug 2008
Beautifully bound and printed version of the greatest cartoon of all time. I love the letters various readers have sent in - they provide the perfect commentary to Larson's spins on life. Priceless.
Fantastic, 17 Nov 2007
I don't really have much to add to the other reviews. This is a fantastic collection and lots of fun. It is indeed substantial and requires a table or desk to sit at while reading, not to mention a sturdy shelf or bookcase in which to keep it. £60 is a lot of money to spend, but I think that over the course of several years, this collection will bring a lot of pleasure, entirely justifying the price. Just don't drop it on your toes.
ABSOLUTELY NO COWS WERE HARMED IN PRINTING THIS MASTERPIECE!,, 25 Oct 2007
Where BILL WATTERSON is philosophical and whimsical, GARRY LARSON is absurdly surprising and devilishly creative! He will come at your funny bone from all directions - including the ones you knew not they existed.
I remember ordering his large sized collections one by one from the Book-Of-The-Month-Club and then laughing out loud all weekend!
Animals and humans never have existed so harmoniously. This is the universe of the absurd, the weird, the what-if, the I-know-this-is-not-possible-but-then-why-does-it-feel-so-familiar?
Own all his cartoons in 2 beautifully bound volumes.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Beautiful, the best way to view Gary's masterpieces, 08 Oct 2007
If you even suspect you know a Gary Larson fan (and who Isn't) this is the PERFECT gift, and If You are that fan you owe it to yourself to order this beautiful, comprehensive collection.
The fact that the Far Side books I leant and never got back over the years gave me the excuse to treat myself.
The quality of binding, paper and printing are just superb,I have to say it is the best way to view Gary's masterpieces.
sadly missed, 08 Jun 2006
when gary larson 1st appeared it was with a sigh of relief from all who mourned the sad passing of the truly inspired chas addams.Larson effortlessly stepped into those too long vacated shoes.
this collection is a superb roundup of some of the finest subversive, perverse & downright odd humour this self righteous planet has ever seen. cows plotting mans downfall, neanderthal mans greatest cock-ups,evil rhino's,what dog's are actually saying & sarky wildlife are just the tip of this wildly spinning iceberg.
you'll not tire of returning to them time & again and with this beautifully presented boxset, you'll be laughing your head off in real style & with amazons generous reduction what else are you waiting for? If you've not seen larson before then get stuck in here you lucky lucky person!its worth every last penny.

I guarantee you will laugh each time you pick this up, and you will constantly find cartoons that you missed the last time. This has got to be one of the funniest, best value for money purchases I have ever made. The author's observations are awesome
A great buy!, 07 Jan 2000
I was looking for some good comics, and ordered this book hoping it would be allright. I was blown away. First of all, the book is huge, making it great value compared to other comic books I have bought. Secondly, Larson's humor is wonderful. At times I have been staring at his drawings for minutes trying to figure out the jokes because they are so clever - but the trade off is that they are hilarious. A highly recommended book.

More Larson magic, 25 Feb 2005
Here's another omnibus edition of Gary Larsons weird, wacky and utterly hilarious cartoons. To enter Larson's world is to enter a world where animals have meaningful conversations, bugs make their homes in nice suburban houses, flies fly planes etc, etc. Cetainly not the mainstream kind of cartoon but for anyone who likes 'off the wall' type humour this is a 'must buy'. Absolutely hilarious.

It's lost something in the translation, 06 Jan 2004
Ok, the far side is hilarious. I thought I'd accidentally wandered into one of the cartoons when I bought this. It's not a desk calender at all, its a diary. It says calender on the front, but don't be fooled. It's got pages, and a spiral binding, and opens up just like a book, or, in fact, a diary, which is what it obviously is. Obviously once it arrives, that is. There's nothing on the description before you buy it to say it's a diary, and as the picture only shows the cover you'd be forgiven for getting it wrong. Still , I suppose I should see the funny side.
