Absolutely the best!!!, 09 Oct 2008
have read this book several times and it always has thesame effect on me inspite of the familiarity. i fell in love with all of his characters, even the bad ones. couldn't help it because he made them so real and inetresting. this book is definitely one of his best if not 'the best'. although 'rage of angels' was spectacular and 'nothing lasts forever'was absolutely incredible. hell!, all his books are fantastic! A big shame he's dead. R.I.P SIDNEY, WE WILL MISS YOUR WORK.
one of the best books i have ever read, 03 Jan 2008
from start to finish i suggest you take a few days off of your life to read this because you will totally lose yourself in its pages, i read this every few years and still get upset to finish it, i envy anyone reading this book for the first time, i truly do.
Amazing!!!, 29 Nov 2006
This is possibly my favourite book of all time! Having seen the tv mini series as a child i decided to read the book and see if it was as good as i remembered it! It was! Twists turns, characters to love and hate! sheldon at his creative best! A must for sheldon fans and a great starting point for those who are thinking of givin him a go!
A great read, 27 Sep 2006
The book starts very well building a great foundation for the rest of the story. It follows the trials and tribulations of 4 generations of the McGregor/Blackwell family telling their story of poverty to unthinkable wealth and the problems this caused. The book flows seemlessly primarily due to Sheldon's fantastic storytelling style. The descriptions are just right and to the point. Sheldon has a really great nack of helping the reader visualise his characters very quickly with some very clever writing. I really could not put this book down and I can say that I am hooked on Sidney Sheldon books.
A beautiful story, 28 Jun 2005
I fell completely in love for the first time with Sheldon's style of writing with MASTER OF THE GAME. It is a beautiful piece of saga full of characters that are movers of the movers and the spices of survival. Human emotions are succinctly dissected, emotions that range from hatred, love, anger, jealousy, lust, etc, and when combined with the beautiful story line brought out such a beautiful story. Reading the older Sheldon novels merely confirmed my belief that he is a great writer.
This book attracted me to other sagas that are centered on a strong family legacy such as DISCIPLES OF FORTUNE,THE GODFATHER, KANE AND ABEL, TRIPLE AGENT. I am looking forward any time to other new works by Sidney Sheldon.

This is my all time fav book, I first read it when I was roughly 14years old, and have since read all Sidney Sheldon books (and this one several times over)!
Loved it, loved it, loved it. , 24 Sep 2007
This was the first Sydney Sheldon book I read, which spurred me on to read the rest. This book makes you smile with every chapter at the ingenuity of the Tracey Whitney and the schemes she finds herself in the midst of. I feel that the phrase "page turner" is bandied around too often when describing novels, but I can honestly say that this is not one of those times. Read this you'll love it.
Fab, 19 Jul 2007
This is one of my favourite books, I have read it sooo many times and never get bored with it. Every time I pick it up, I find it hard to put down Its one everyone can enjoy. And the plot is fab!
Excellent, 11 Mar 2007
This was the first Sidney Sheldon novel I've read.
It's an excellent thriller and has some great characters, it's very easy to get into and the story takes you on a great journey.
I found it very enjoyable and have now bought another of his novels. :-)
Forget the kids, the bills, the nasty boss and escape with Tracey!, 08 Oct 2006
If I had to choose one word to describe this book I would choose the word "fun", because that's what you'll have as you're reading it! The heroine's experiences in prison are a bit hard to take but if you can get past that you will find yourself on a rollicking rollercoaster ride following Tracey across the globe as she gets revenge on the people who destroyed her and robs nasty rich people of their valuables. She might be a criminal but she is so lovely that you can't ever bear the thought of her being brought to justice.
Reading it now it sometimes feels a bit dated- all that glitz and glamour can only be from the eighties- but page-turners never go out of style, and they don't come much better than this: you will devour this in record time and then feel sorry it has ended!

I have only read a few Sheldon books so far, and this one was by far the best!
This story has it all, romance, tragedy, mysery, suspense and horror. It was interesting to look inside a Global Business, and see how things really happen. It's a jungle out there!
You fall in love with the main characters easily in this book, and hope for that happy ending. I also loved the look back through time in this story, and thought this was a very vital part of introducing the reader to Elizabeth.
All of the key characters are described brilliantly, so you feel as if you really know them.
And, the finale, the 'villian' of this story was not who i expected, but to look back the clues i suppose were all there. The final scenes were nail biting gripping!
This story travels the world, and Sheldon's knowledge of the languages was brilliant, and really brought the characters to life.
If you have never read a Sheldon book before, make this your first one. It's a great story, with twists and turns that will keep you guessing, and keep you turning the pages for more! Its got everything you would look for, 07 Feb 2005
Another Sheldon's master piece, I would dare say. Its got everything you would look for in a crime, fiction book. Hard, excitement, love, sex, death, family, trust, money, beauty... I just simply recommend to everyone who reads my comment because if you like Sheldon just like I do, then you wont be able to resist it. With Sheldon's slow start and detailed characters, you get to know them inside out. They feel as though they are real, things happen as they are happening right now. Then you know whats gonna happen. Murder and death.. love and sex.. Someone who tries to solve this and there always someone who tries to hide something. And then massive twist in the end.. As you always expect from Sheldon.. He is just simply the best.
Romance, murder, and exotic settings, 01 Dec 2004
This wonderful thriller is the story of Elizabeth Roffe, whose father has just died (or was he murdered?), leaving her heiress to a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical maker. She takes over the reins of the company, with the help of Rhys Williams, a handsome but mysterious self-made man. Elizabeth's four quirky cousins and co-owners of the company each have shady pasts and need money, badly. They are pressuring her to allow the company to go public; she refuses, and becomes the target of an unknown assassin. This is a book you will not be able to put down. The story is full of fascinating flashbacks, detailing the often bizarre lives of all the Roffes: Alec from London, Helene from Paris, Anna from Berlin, and Ivo from Rome. Each one has a reason to want Elizabeth out of the way, and as the attempts on her life increase, the tension mounts until the killer is revealed in a truly frightening conclusion. Highly recommended for Sidney Sheldon fans and everyone who enjoys fast-paced stories full of action and memorable characters. This book was made into an all-star movie with Audrey Hepburn, Omar Sharif, and James Mason.
You really want to turn the pages!!!!, 08 Sep 1999

A Stranger in the Mirror, 12 Apr 2005
Great read, Sheldon portrays a beautiful down trodden heroine, Jill Castle, who makes it big despite the odds being stacked against her. Just when she is about to have her greatest wish come true her past comes back to haunt her, with devastating consequences.
The dark side of Hollywood, 24 Dec 2004
This is the behind-the-scenes story of Toby Temple, who rose from poverty to become a show-biz superstar on TV and in the movies, as well as a first-class heel. It is also the story of Jill Temple who escaped a sad childhood and fled to Hollywood with stars in her eyes, but never got her big break, despite using every casting couch in town. Toby and Jill married, and then she used her new power to destroy all those who hurt her. Even she couldn't know it would all end in murder. This novel is a departure for Sidney Sheldon, who usually writes thrillers with beautiful, young heroines facing disaster every few pages. He does know Hollywood, however, being a prolific Oscar and Emmy-winning writer. Here he creates two characters who manage to be sympathetic despite being completely without scruples, and you'll find the book hard to put down. He carefully weaves characters and details, slowly building to a surprising and very satisfying conclusion. This is a well-written, exciting story about the world of actors, agents, and directors (it's fun to try to guess which characters may have been based on real people); I happily recommend "A Stranger in the Mirror."
Brilliant, 17 Aug 2001
This was a dark and interesting book. I found it difficult to put down. I really loved Toby Temples character. I found him to be very realistically written, especially as he got more famous. He could at times be a difficult man, but also had a compassionate side. When Toby met Jill, he fell in love for the first time in his life. He was truly happy then, probably for the first time ever. However, I never could guess how she honestly felt about him. She married him for his power, so that she could get revenge on the people in Hollywood - but did she grow to love him?... Which brings me to another issue - David. What a weak and annoying man. What type of man marries a woman he doesn't love just to please his mother? At the point that Jill married Toby, David had finally divorced Cissy (after SHE left HIM) and was on his way to see Jill and ask him to marry her... I had started out liking Jill, and felt sorry for her for the first part of the book. But as time went by I found her to be very conniving. The way the book ended was absolutely brilliant - really dark and chilling. No happy endings here!! Brilliant book, brilliant characters - it's a shame that Mr Sheldons more recent works aren't up to this quality.

from start to finish i suggest you take a few days off of your life to read this because you will totally lose yourself in its pages, i read this every few years and still get upset to finish it, i envy anyone reading this book for the first time, i truly do.
Fab, 06 Mar 2008
Unput-downable!, 27 May 2006
Such a good read could not put it down; read it in two days - would have been one if did not have to work!! The first book I have read by Sidney Sheldon, I shall certainly be reading some more, if his style with novels is as readable as his own story. Brilliant read! Make this one of your first Sheldon books!, 01 Jun 2007
Well written passion and love romance, with intriguing events. It was the first book of this author that I read and I liked the story and the style.
Excellent, 07 Sep 1999
This book was well written. The characters came to life making unforgettable story.
Exellent work, 11 Dec 2005
i found thid book quite intersting....Fan of mr sheldon should read this masterpiece....i think the last part of this novel is better than first part...overall a gr8 novel.
Will she choose Michael or Adam?, 29 Oct 2004
Sidney Sheldon's Rage of Angels tells the story of beautiful Jennifer Parker, a rising young New York attorney who becomes involved with two very different men - Michael Morreti is a ruthless killer and Adam Warner is being groomed for the Presidency. We follow Jennifer for many years as she becomes a mother as well as a lawyer for the mafia, all the while finding true love is just beyond her reach. Sheldon knows how to write exciting page-turners, and Rage of Angels is no exception. His characters are absorbing and the action never stops. The ending came as quite a surprise to me and indeed wraps up the whole story in an exciting and bittersweet conclusion.

This was my first Sidney Sheldon book and I engrossed me right into the world of Jennifer Parker. She's a great character(along with others such as Michael Moretti and Adam Warner) and you'll feel the emotions as you read. Sidney Sheldon has done a great job capturing a courtroom trial with excellent twists. You'll enjoy this specially if your into a fast paced, romantic novel.

I consider RAGE OF ANGELS to be one of Sheldons best books. The plot keeps you in suspense and I found whilst I was reading, hard to put the book down. Jennifer Parker is the main character of this book who doesn't get the best start at Law, but her determination leads her to the big players, where along the way she meets her two lovers, one a future president and the other, a Mafia Don. This is one book that I always go back to, it is as simple as that...irresistable.

I actually read this book some time ago but have never forgotten how totally gripping it was. When I heard today that Sidney Sheldon had died, I wanted to record how much I had enjoyed his novels. This was the first I read and it inspired me to read many of his others, but this one remains my favourite. I liked the device of telling the story from the different points of view of the various characters and was completely absorbed by it. OK so it may not be high literature, but at times we all need some escapism, and this fits the bill perfectly.
Just Plain Trashy, 09 Jul 2005
This is standard Sheldon fare - cutthroats and graphic albeit cliche bedroom scenes. Same old story. Set during the 1940s, this book contains all of the ususal Sheldon fare including some poor editing. An example of poor editing was in the case of a character named Israel Katz, who had an amputated leg. Early in the book, it was his right leg and later in the book, his other leg was identified as the amputeded limb. Inconsistencies like that are inexcusable. Dramatis Personae Catherine - a silly, starry-eyed girl who has pie in the sky hopes like her dreamer of a dad. She has a crush on a boy in her senior class and when he somehow manages to convince her to spend a night with him, she makes bizarre comments and kills off a possible conquest. She drops out of college to work and becomes involved with one William Fraser, who is the only likable character in the book. A truly nice man, he has her interests at heart. Larry - a cruel, indifferent man. He manages to convince Catherine to marry him instead of Fraser. He would later jilt her for one Noelle Page after making attempts on her life so he can remarry. An erratic pilot, he is sacked from several airlines and mail runs before being hired as the private pilot for a Greek tycoon. Noelle Page - Catherine's foil; her opposite number. Noelle is a ruthless barracuda who was encouraged to believe she was born into a noble gentry. Instead, she was born in a fishing village in Paris, the daughter of another barracuda and an unknown sailor. The man she recognizes as her Papa sells her when she reaches puberty. She then goes on to seduce men and sharpen her teeth and claws. A Greek tycoon named Constantin Demiris who bears more than a passing resemblance to Ari Onasis takes in interest in the young barracuda. He woos her after a callous pilot named Larry who jilted her. These three lives collide. Larry supposedly kills Catherine and is executed in a trial after her disappearance; Noelle and Larry reconnect and Noelle meets a grim fate as well. A tale of revenge and excess, this one shares a place with other Sheldon novels. This is just too trashy for me.
The classic Sidney Sheldon novel, 30 Oct 2004
Beautiful but poor Parisiene Noelle Page falls madly in love with American flyer Larry Douglas during WWII. When she becomes pregnant, he deserts her, thus setting her on a path of revenge that consumes her very being. Ruthlessly driven, she becomes a supermodel, movie star, and finally, as mistress to mega-rich Constantin Demeris, Noelle is reunited with Larry. Will she make him pay for what he did to her... or will she fall under his spell again? Noelle, Larry, and his innocent wife, Catherine, are such fascinating, memorable characters that you won't want to stop reading until you find out what happens to them next. The story takes us from a poor French fishing village to Paris, then Hollywood and Athens, and the excitement keeps building and building as Noelle comes closer to tying up lose ends with the dastardly Larry, who proves to be her match when it comes to plotting evil. But don't underestimate Noelle's lover, Demeris, who will use all of his resources to get what he wants. This is my favorite Sidney Sheldon novel. Fans who love his fast-paced, exciting stories are sure to enjoy The Other Side of Midnight.
The other side of midnight, 04 Jun 2003
Great book! Loved the book, loved the movie. I managed to read the book in a couple of days (fairly large book). I was surprised by the characters especially - Noelle. It is filled with suspense, revenge and intrigue. See the movie , it's filled with gorgeous scenery and is a treat for the eyes.
Brilliant and clever surprises all the way through., 03 Jan 2002
I found this book very hard to get into as it told of different people making their journey to a trial. Who was murdered and the second person being tried it didn't tell us. But after the main chapters started I found I didn't want to put the book down. Each chapter concentrated alternately on one of the two female characters. The first time this happened I groaned outwardly, as we had been allowed so deeply into the thoughts of the first girl and wanted to stay with her all the way through. But then also felt the same for the second girl. Today I heard of a sequel and I cant wait.

Fab, 06 Mar 2008
Well written passion and love romance, with intriguing events. It was the first book of this author that I read and I liked the story and the style.

This book was well written. The characters came to life making unforgettable story.

A great read!, 03 May 2004
This was my first Sidney Sheldon book and I engrossed me right into the world of Jennifer Parker. She's a great character(along with others such as Michael Moretti and Adam Warner) and you'll feel the emotions as you read. Sidney Sheldon has done a great job capturing a courtroom trial with excellent twists. You'll enjoy this specially if your into a fast paced, romantic novel.
Unforgettable..., 29 Sep 2001
I consider RAGE OF ANGELS to be one of Sheldons best books. The plot keeps you in suspense and I found whilst I was reading, hard to put the book down. Jennifer Parker is the main character of this book who doesn't get the best start at Law, but her determination leads her to the big players, where along the way she meets her two lovers, one a future president and the other, a Mafia Don. This is one book that I always go back to, it is as simple as that...irresistable.
Absolutely unputdownable!, 31 Jan 2007
Excellent!, 26 Feb 2008
This book was recommended to me and I have to say it really is fantastic. Brilliantly written, gripping and highly original story. Kept me glued until the very last page!
Four women caught up in the Basque rebellion, 02 Nov 2004
Sidney Sheldon's adventure is set amid the Basque rebellion in Spain in the 70s. Sadistic Spanish Colonel Acoca raids a convent, searching for the famous rebel leader Jaime Miro. Four nuns, each with shocking past lives, escape and find themselves traveling the countryside with Miro's band of partisans. It is a cat and mouse game of chase between the evil Acoca and charismatic Miro, who suspects one of his friends is an informant. The story speeds along at a frantic, life-or-death pace, as each of the characters is given a fascinating, even amazing, back-story, and in typical Sheldon style, there are endless close-calls and a conclusion that will leave you breathless and satisfied. This is one of the author's best, combining thrills, romance, politics, and ultimate justice. Fans of Sidney Sheldon's novels will definitely enjoy "The Sands of Time."
The Sands of Time, 13 Aug 2004
This book is one of the most exciting and thrilling books i have read for a long time. I think this book is one of the best Sidney Sheldon has written to date. The Sands of Time is a story about four nuns who are forced to flee their spanish convent and face a world they long ago deserted. Suddenely they find themselves in between the struggle of the Basque nationalists led by Jamie Miro and the Spanish Army led by Colonel Ramon Acoca who wants to destroy them all. This story has history, romance and suspense and i recommend it to all.
A must read!, 18 Oct 2000
This is the type of book that you will find hard to put down! The events spark your curiosity and command your interest. The fast pace of narration repeatedly encourages you to read a little bit more becuse you know that that little bit more will definitely yield pleasure.
