Unsettling home truths from a brilliant teacher, 02 Jul 2001
Jonathan Dollimore with wit and clarity culls the sacred cows milked by friends and foes alike. With a remarkable combination of philosophic acuity and poetic sensibility he teases from literary evidence the perverse paradoxes we live our often fragile identities through. Particularly impressive is the brilliant resetting of central perceptions of Freud and other materialist writers - rescuing them from the contemporary complacent assumption that they have been, as it were, disproved. The result is that new spaces have been opened up enabling an exciting reengagement with the works of writers otherwise dismissed through lazy politically correct consensus. Still more importantly the ideas discussed are shown to be immediately relevant to knowlege of oneself. Above all there is a deep respect for truth, drawing I believe upon a pitiless self-examination and, at last, passionately committed writing that admits it might be wrong.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but nor am i easily blinded by false propositions that amounts to nothing less than propaganda. It is not a comfortable thought for us ordinary decent people to know, that much of the world's events are orchestrated, and have been throughout history. I have nothing to gain by this view, nor do i expect you to naively believe what i say, just that you do not naively believe what 'anyone' says. Ask questions and use your intelligence.
Whether you like this idea or not it is fact, look it up, the world is controlled by a small number of elite groups who include politicians, religious figures, banking & media figures and who openly admit their agenda for a new world order. What they don't admit, is how this is being achieved - but it IS being achieved right now, by creating problems. This is the single most important thing to realise, no matter how uncomfortable it is. They CREATE problems, using the media to sway the public opinion. It is not very nice to know that these elite groups of people will go to extreme measures to ensure those problems they create are big enough and shocking enough to cause uproar. This uproar invokes the hearts of many, propagated and hyped up using well known psychological influences on the mass people so that they live in a state of fear. When people fear they will do anything, they will look to anyone. Look at our programs on the television, what is their theme? Look at the newspapers, what is their theme? Look at how we live, what is the theme? Do you notice anything in common? Do you think that this is by accident? If you do your own research and i think you should, you will discover the same family names appear again and again in very influential organisations, mostly centred around the banking and media system. And these are systems. Let's not forget the world economy crisis now, ORCHESTRATED, money is paper, it is worthless relatively speaking, it is printed off a machine. Every single dollar that is printed is only leant out with interest attached to it. From day one, this has been the case. So, let me ask you, if every dollar that is leant out, has interest attached, then all the money out there has a value more than what anyone is ever able to pay back. Simply put, it is a never-ending cycle of debt and it is used to manipulate changes in world events when it suits them. These changes are in the direction of a new world order.
Look at the world since 9-11 is it better? Is it more free? Yet, freedom and peace and liberty is what these people preach. These elite few, that make up humanity's demise, are in disguise as freedom seekers carrying the torch of humanity, they are against the free human, it is NOT what their intentions are and people are too intelligent to be blinded by this anymore.
Don't take my word for it, do some research for yourself and you will find that 'they', those few elite, for the past few hundred years have operated within societies that built institutions that currently control our world (for example the federal reserve, the media, the government). When you come home after working for a national company whose director is probably in one of the elite groups, you then sit in front of a tv and let the same elite group take over your mind, what you watch determines how you feel, sad programs, comedies, which are on the tv more? Thrillers or good-feeling programs, which are on the tv more? Why can't you mute the picture of a tv? You can mute the sound, but you can't mute the picture. Dont't be passive to what is around you, question things and you will soon know what freedom is. TV used to be the illusion, but now it is most people's reality - think about what is pushed to us every day. Why is there freeview? Why isn't there free phone calls or free internet why is there free television? It is the chewing gum that keeps their system together, creating hype which then breeds more problems from humanity who thinks this hype is happening. Take hoodies for example, it was media hype now young males out there are thinking there are all these gangs of hoodies, so they start forming their own gangs of hoodies, and suddenly there really is a problem. The MEDIA SETS TRENDS. SIMPLE. With september 11th however, this was an orchestrated event, orchestrated because it had to be a big enough problem to really induce people to demand tighter control as a solution. We are being stripped of our liberties and we are aksing for it to happen by believing words of strange men and women whom we know nothing about.
Don't be fooled so easily, wake up a bit, do some research of your own, ask questions for yourself or you are nothing but a slave to a system that has conditioned you and the reigns will be getting tighter. At the moment this can be seen in or economy, which as time goes on WILL result in a one world banking system, a one world economy, one body controlling the many, enslaving the majority of the human race for reasons that are not appropriate to include in this text. There are specific reasons why this is the ultimate goal, but these reasons are likely to shatter your whole understanding of reality and for those reasons you shold take your own time to work through the many falseities that have been presented to you by those we trust to lead. Once you have done this, start leading yourself, do not lazily go through life thinking things don't affect you because they will and this will become more evident as time goes on. Do yourself a favour and wake up to what's around you, it is likely to steer the course of humanity in to the right direction and every individual counts.

Covering the Cover-Up, 17 Feb 2007
There are many good books, films, and websites whose aim is to raise 9/11 awareness, but this book is the only one I know of to go in depth into the media cover-up of so much surrounding 9/11. There's great material here on the "left gate-keepers," the methodology of psy-ops, and so much more. The book is indespensible, and Zwicker has done a tremendous public service in putting it together. If you already know the basics covered by people like David Ray Griffin and in films like 911 MYSTERIES, which by the way is fantastic, don't make the mistake of dismissing this as covering the same old ground.
The mass media's complicity in hiding the truth about the events of Sept. 11 is something tangible because it is on the record, except in those cases where the electronic media make the record disappear from their archives.
An anti-democratic invisible government, 27 Oct 2006
This is another excellent book about the 9/11 massacre.
After reading it, it is extremely difficult not to believe that it was an Inside Job (MIHOP).
Because, cui bono? 9/11 was fabulously profitable, not only for put option writers with their stunning foreknowledge, but in the long run for the merchants of death, the arms industry.
If it was an inside job, then 9/11 (as was the murder of JFK) is a clear indication that the US is ruled by a parallel invisible government. For the author the heart of this invisible government is the CIA.
9/11 would then be a false-flag operation, as there have been so many before, but a particular brutal one. It was a pretext for war (Iraq, Afghanistan) and for a drastic reduction of civil liberties (Patriot Act).
This book also exposes the criminal silence of the media, which are held in a stranglehold by the military, industrial and intelligence communities. As ex-CIA chief W. Colby said: `the CIA owns everyone of any major significance in the major media.'
This book contains a remarkable DVD, excellent historical information, e.g. the fascist Butler conspiracy in the 1930s, and presents in depth portraits of courageous researchers of the truth.
A must read for all those interested in the future of mankind.
More Food For Thought On The 9/11 Affair, 18 Sep 2006
Many prospective readers might think, "Oh no, not another piece of conspiracy theory", but this is a serious "journalist's-eye-view" of the tragic events of 9/11. Zwicker eloquently puts forward his case that this was a carefully-planned and executed military operation, and documents the slavish support of the mainstream media for the "official version" of the events. He has, along with other prominent campaigners after the truth, given himself a difficult and thankless task, in the face of media censorship and opposition.
There are many disturbing similarities between the 9/11 case and the JFK affair, and Zwicker picks up on this well. He adds weight to the suspicions of many people that a "false flag" operation was involved on 9/11.
I've got to admire Zwicker and his fellow campaigners like Dr David Ray Griffin, Michael Ruppert and Webster Tarpley (all of whose work is covered in this book). They are sincere in their desire for public opinion to be heard, and to act on the public's behalf. These people have moved up a notch or two, the public's desire for the truth to be told. Surely the days of "either you are with us or you are with the terrorists" have long gone.
The book is well illustrated and is not too heavy a read at just under 400 pages. The profiles of the various personalities involved are well put together and not too long and drawn out. The inclusion of a DVD also makes it excellent value for money.
Highly recommended for serious students of the 9/11 affair.

Loved it!! The book is a play and not in narrative format and it is this aspect that makes it a very fast moving story. The tension and suspense is gradually built up right through to the finale and the climax is brilliant albeit tragic.
There is also some humour in there and the scene where Bhutto gives his opinion on LBJ had me on the floor. It was reminiscent of the "dhobi's itch" incident from the book Clash of Fundamentalisms by the same author.
The only criticism I have is that the book is too short. It is no more than a two hour leisurely read and in this respect it sort of leaves you wanting more.

Product Description
Acclaimed education historian Diane Ravitch answers the question of how the impulse in the 1960s and 70s to achieve fairness and a balanced perspective in our nation's textbooks went so terribly wrong in The Language Police: How Pressure Groups Restrict What Students Learn. Author of seven books, Ravitch served as the US Assistant Secretary of Education from 1991 to 1993. Her expertise and her 30-year commitment to education lend authority and urgency to this important book, which describes in copious detail how pressure groups from the political right and left have wrested control of the language and content of textbooks and standardised exams, often at the expense of the truth (in the case of history), of literary quality (in the case of literature), and of education in general. Like most people involved in education, Ravitch did not realise "that educational materials are now governed by an intricate set of rules to screen out language and topics that might be considered controversial or offensive." In this clear-eyed critique, she is an unapologetic challenger of the ridiculous and damaging extremes to which bias guidelines and sensitivity training have been taken by the federal government, the states, and textbook publishers. In a multi-page sampling of rejected test passages, we discover that "in the new meaning of bias, it its considered biased to acknowledge that lack of sight is a disability," that children who live in urban areas cannot understand passages about the country, that the Aesop fable about a vain (female) fox and a flattering (male) crow promotes gender bias. As outrageous as many of the examples are, they do not appear particularly dangerous. However, as the illustrations of abridgment, expurgation, and bowdlerisation mount, the reader begins to understand that our educational system is indeed facing a monumental crisis of distortion and censorship. Ravtich ends her book with three suggestions of how to counter this disturbing tendency. Sadly, however, in the face of the overwhelming tide of misinformation that has already been entrenched in the system, her suggestions provide cold comfort. --Silvana Tropea, Amazon.com

An eye-opening study, 11 Jul 2008
This excellent (and depressing) study brings to light a serious problem in American education, some signs of which are becoming visible in the UK. All educators should be aware of Ravitch's findings, painstakingly assembled over several years. Of value too is her comprehensive list of literary texts that should be on the curriculum for each age group. It's also one of the best introductions to political correctness.
EVERY EDUCATOR ,PARENT, AND STUDENT SHOULD READ THIS, 22 Feb 2006
This is a stunning indictment of the textbook industry, not only in the United States, but worldwide. The author shows how a multi-million dollar industry stifles learning and renders teachers, students, and writers helpless in the face of the manic search for political correctness. To be fair to the industry, it is primarily an indictment of institutions that hire gatekeepers of knowledge with a myopic vision of lifelong learning.
A rallying call for reason, 06 Jul 2003
This is a compelling read about the effect of lobby groups on US publishers of educational text books. The right wing (fundamentalist Christian) lobbies for change in content, while the politically correct left lobbies for change in language. The result is English test papers that are specially written to placate all parties and which do not - cannot - draw on the classics of American literature. The dumbing down of language and falsification of history described here are hair-raising. Not all the changes are unreasonable, but enough are so absurd as to be dangerous. There should be a public debate on the issues raised, and an investigation into the 'guidelines' used by UK publishers.

Product Description
Everything You Know Is Wrong follows the underground classic You Are Being Lied To--a provocative anti-media book which proclaimed, "once you read [it] you'll wonder if anything you know is right". Everything is an excellent collection by any standards. As incendiary as its precursor it contains a number of highly incisive articles, which, despite coming from the usual suspects, manage to inform and disturb in fairly equal measure. Naomi Klein, of No Logo fame, reminds us that the one lesson that must be learned from the atrocity that was 9/11 is that it is "the boring stuff that binds us all together [that is] the foundation of all our future security". Respected American historian Howard Zinn (writer of the bestselling A People's History of the United States) provides a chapter on the forgotten Colorado Coal Strike. Peter Breggin (Toxic Psychiatry) reminds us of the scandal surrounding the psychiatric drugging of children to enforce highly questionable behavioural norms. There are challenging essays concerning TV (and how bad it is for us), about the (lack of) youth violence, about US foreign policy and much more besides. This is a big, baggy, coffee-table book of iconoclastic journalism. And it is certainly worth the eye-popping ride. --Mark Thwaite

A Cassarole Of Free Thinking, 16 Apr 2005
I don't usually bother with reviews but some of the previous ones of this book have been so vacuous (one reader criticising the book as being too big)I have been prompted to write some sort of rebutal. Overall the book is a stimulating and illuminating collection on writing. It's central theme is around free thinking and challenging many populist beliefs. Sure it's controversial in places and sure there are many essays which I disagree with but all are well written and passionate. So, if you are someone who struggles to read opinions contrary to your own steer clear. The more free thinking of you should enjoy this book, which is essentially liberal of nature rather than leftist or indeed conservative. As with any collected works there are always going to be parts that are worth skipping over but if you want to live in a world where people make up their own minds and don't just digest the propaganda that is shrink wrapped and served to them then you should find ther majority of the book entertaining. In a nutshell, if you agreee with the Voltaire sentiment of "I despise what you say but defend your right to say it" then you will get great pleasure from this collection. Conversely, Fox News viewers need not apply.
As bad as the previous one, 31 Mar 2003
As with the first "everything you know is wrong" this books takes up the mantle of exposing lies, fraud and deception. As with the first book, it takes on too many subjects (from waco to child rearing and CIA drug spies) and covers them all badly. As such, it's pretty much just good as a standard coffee table book. Nothing more. Shallow reading.
Best of the best, 20 Jul 2002
Here is a fine book for Summer reading. Literally dozens and dozens of well written articles covering hot topics in the news. But here's the rub, not only do the articles cover 911, the Vatican scandals, money laundering, Mad Cow, and many other topics, they expose in a well documented manner the other sides of the stories so often lost in the main stream press. Well worth a read and the large format book looks great on the tea table too.

Shoot The Singer! is a magnificent contribution to the body of literature on the topic of arts-suppression. Of its many attributes, the book's greatest strength is the multiplicity of voices presented. Considered as a whole, the book is an inspiring compendium of testimony to the important roles music plays in societies around the globe. I learned much from many of the essays, but found a few particular pieces - those by Marcel Khalife and Rania Elias-Khoury come to mind - to be far beyond merely educational. Though leavened with sadness, their messages are in fact, nothing less than inspirational. In the sense, that is, that these writers so gracefully articulate the challenge mankind faces in confronting (or working around) the censorious traditions and/or trends common to many lands. Freemuse has, once again, provided the world a fine service. Bravo!

A magnificent contribution..., 09 Sep 2004
Shoot The Singer! is a magnificent contribution to the body of literature on the topic of arts-suppression. Of its many attributes, the book's greatest strength is the multiplicity of voices presented. Considered as a whole, the book is an inspiring compendium of testimony to the important roles music plays in societies around the globe. I learned much from many of the essays, but found a few particular pieces - those by Marcel Khalife and Rania Elias-Khoury come to mind - to be far beyond merely educational. Though leavened with sadness, their messages are in fact, nothing less than inspirational.
