Totally loved it, 02 Jul 2008
I bought this book 2 yrs ago after losing a loved one. It was the first time in my life that I'd ever lost someone close to me and it made me ask alot of questions. I was scared and wondered if death was truly the end. why did they go? would i see them again? can they see me? can i speak to them? what's the purpose of life? who's pulling the strings? I had so many questions that the religion i was practising at the time couldn't provide convincing answers. Then I read the reviews of this book on Amazon and I ordered it. IT CHANGED MY LIFE!
Its written very simply written and very comforting. It triggered my quest for spiritual enlightenment and my life is all the better for it now! We need more books like this
Absolutely fantastic book!!, 28 Jun 2008
This is one of those books that you will want everyone to read after you have finished. My copy is now doing its rounds amongst friends and family.
Although its not based on scientific evidence, to me everything in this book makes sense. If you are a person like myself, always questioning what you believe regarding your faith and such. This can help settle thoughts you have had regarding your spirituality. I love how easy this book is to read also. I highly recommend this book, for anyone interested in spirituality.
Loved Every Page, 20 May 2008
I am already a firm believer in reincarnation, and have had many personal experiences over the years since I was quite small. The contents of this book merely confirmed what I already suspected was the truth, but the fact that Michael Newton filled in some of the gaps for me made this compulsive reading. I think this is a fantastic book and I loved it - I am currently reading Destiny of Souls, which is a little harder to absorb, but it certainly answers more of the questions you may have - and it all makes perfect sense.
Nothing left to doubt., 04 May 2008
I am 52 and, over the years, have pieced together an alternative view of our purpose than simply to live and then to die. There have been far too many stories of near death experiences etc., which are as intriguing as the attitude of some scientists and their single minded task to patronisingly dismiss it as some form of lack of oxygen to the brain leading to darkness around the edges of vision. I feel sad for those people but then, one day, they will find out the truth.
My dad never believed in life after death and yet, he made a significant effort to speak to me months after he died. I went to a spiritual event simply to take a friend and out of interest, the medium had been on TV and she came to me as the second person she spoke to. My dad had three issues he wanted to talk about and he came through loud and clear.
This book goes far beyond this. If you've ever wondered 'if' or 'what' or even 'where', look no further. Read this as a sceptic and you will gain nothing from it, read it as someone interested in fitting together the pieces of life and you will be rewarded. Then, buy his next book: Destiny of Souls. This book is wonderful and takes you through the story of our existance and purpose. Don't let the smug, scary, patronising brigade put you off believing. Religion has been telling us for years that the soul exists and continues when the body dies, this is about where it came from, where it goes to and what happens between lives.
Unique contribution to the field of hypnotherapy, 11 Feb 2008
This trilogy of books - Journey of Souls, Destiny of Souls and Life between lives represents a unique contribution to the field of hypnotherapy (many books in the field of hypnosis and hypnotherapy are a rehash of the same stuff and for that reason I have found this book very refreshing).
Throughout my life I would occasionally see a pinpoint of light - light that radiated tremendous love and for a split second that it flashed in and out of existence it tremendously cheered me up. This pinpoint of light would most frequently appear when I would be engaged in some selfless act or would be contemplating doing something selfless. It felt as if it were telling me that I was on the right track or simply giving me a spiritual pat on the back. I've met couple of other people in my life who also see similar pinpoints of light - in different colors, but it never crossed my mind before reading this book that "wow, this is how we all look like without physical bodies" - a pinpoint of light bursting with energy and consciousness.
I have always felt spiritually guided in my life, I have always followed my heart and I do believe that each individual can find all the guidance he needs by looking into his heart and by following his heart. It is also my experience that one can experience his Infinite Self through meditation and through boundless love for the Infinite - yet I can see how many may find going through the processes described in this book helpful, in terms of overcoming fear of death as well as discovering one's life purpose and gaining insight into purposefulness of the circumstances that may be rather challenging and to some people may seem even unfair. Perhaps people who have a tendency to wonder "why me?" may find it easier to accept the responsibility for the circumstances they find themselves in, to accept that on some level they have agreed to go through such experiences and to ponder rather what can they learn from those situations, what strengths and qualities can they develop, and how can they use these learnings to better their lives and the lives of others.

A huge disappointment, 23 Sep 2008
This books tells the story of the author's therapy sessions with a woman he calls "Catherine". She is a young woman suffering from anxiety, fear of water, swallowing pills, et cetera. After having tried treating her with conventional therapy for 18 months, he tries hypnosis. Lo and behold, they discover a couple of repressed traumatic events in her past! But it doesn't help. Not until he takes her even further back into a past life. And so it goes...
When it comes to regression, there are numerous theories as to what really happens, and I started reading this book with an open mind and a keen interest in finding out what theory would best fit this story. Some believe there is an akashic field or a collective subconscious which contains the memories of other people's lives and that such memories are experienced in regression. Others believe that we have lived multiple lives. Since I am interested in the paranormal, Out of Body Experiences, Near-Death experiences et cetera, I was looking forward to an engaging read.
Unfortunately, I do not believe the author, a fact that renders all kinds of theorizing superfluous. In my opinion, he is quite simply lying. Catherine, and the spiritual masters speaking through her, are inventions of the authors mind. She is a paper thin non-person, the narrative is incredibly one-dimensional, lacking in about every detail. The author constantly refers to his own scientific background and critical mindedness, and yet even a child can see through some of his "she could not possibly have known" - arguments.
There exists a great body of anecdotal evidence that these kinds of past life experiences do happen. I am not disputing that. I am not saying that near-death experiences are hallucinations either. I am convinced that we are more than our physical bodies.
All I am saying is that this book is a waste of time. It is a novel, not a true story, and a poorly written one at that. It could have been more entertaining if the author had bothered doing some research before he wrote it. Details and character development is foreign to this writer. As it stands, this rubbish could have been written by a teenager as a school writing assignment.
Thought provoking!, 20 Mar 2008
As I am neither a full believer in that which we can not see, nor am i a full blown skeptic, I felt i was facing this book with an open mind. It is very well written and if you are to believe in what it says, it is a beautiful thing to feel is both ahead of us and behind us!
Dr. Weiss fails in only one place for me - He does not clearly show how he came to so strongly believe this lady was not 'pulling the wool over his eyes'. Apart from the comment about his son, noothing else really makes me feel this could be a definite truth. He mentions that he checked up dates and etc. she was speaking of, but never elaborates on this which left me feeling slightly frustrated.
I must state here that I am being slightly over-negative towards the book here and am really nit-picking.
On a more open point, it really is thought provoking and is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. It paints a lovely picture of the possibilities which may face us in the afterlife.
superb book for health victims, you are in control, look at your past, a fascinating read, 20 Nov 2006
If you have phobias or physical health problems or psychological problems, some of them are likely to come from your past, but not jsut this 'body' past, but all your other 'bodily' pasts, all your eternal pasts. We are eternal, so consider all the baggage you bring with you into each new 'body' life and here is a book that really digs deep into this business. By accident Dr Weiss began healing a patient with numerous psychological problems, none of which could be explained by her current life, or childhood. By open mindedness anda joint journey, his patient and he discover an incredible insight into the past and learn to release these problems through remembering where they were born from. Not only that but to add to the proof, the patient became very psychic in the process and had the most accurate information. Start taking note of your dreams, they are all psychic, they are all messages to you and for you and from you. Read this and eternal life starts to make sense.
good read, but ....?, 20 Nov 2006
Found it an interesting read about the possibility of reincarnation but also found i was asking questions throughout, such as if all humans have souls that go to the spiritual planes then reincarnate to learn and become higher beings - no mention was made of animals (referred to as beasts in the book) which i presume would also have to have a soul or spirit as they are living beings and as anyone who has owned a pet would know are individually unique too. Reading from others who can claim to contact "spirits" usually always mention pets that have passed over. so i am a bit skeptical about this book. The bits about being spoken to by the "masters" also made me very doubtful and eventually take it all with a large dose of salt!
Excellent! Must read!, 07 Apr 2005
I have always been interested in past lives and reincaration, but have also been very skeptical as I find it hard to believe. I found this book extremly interesting. It tells you so much and really gives you something to believe in. I couldn't put it down. It's amazing how some dreams can be from past lives. It really opens your eyes; how a professional straight foward man can be completed un aware of other things and ways of moving fowards to then change his mind and really give him a step into the unknown. I found this book very interesting, it got striaght into the great bits, no boring stuff. this can really change your mind. If you have any interest in re-incarnation or just researching this book is for you! Please get it, you'll never regret buying it!!

Nonsense, 26 Aug 2008
Firstly I must apologise. I'm one of those annoyiong people who feels they can post a review of a book they haven't read yet but unless mr Chopra has actually died and returned to life, and in doing so broken several dozen laws of physics for which he should be awarded multiple Nobel prizes, all he is peddling is false hope to cowards and simpletons. There is no life after death. Get used to it. Grow up and get on with your lives now as they are the only ones you'll ever have. As for an objective meaning to life? Your life has whatever meaning you attribute to it so enjoy every wonderful second of it and don't waste your time planning for a hereafter
Life After Death : The Book Of Answers, 27 Jul 2008
It has been a long time since I have read a book by Deepak Chopra, the reason being, I seemed to get bogged down, and bewildered, by the bio-physics, atoms, eons etc,.
But my hiatus has enabled me to return to Deepak's books with a new slight, and a willingness to grip the "metaphysical" bits even if it killed me. Mr Chopra saved me the trouble. What he sets out, explains and theorises, is done in such a way as to make not only easy reading, but offers up a theology and a truth that is a revelation. Is there life beyond death? I have always hoped so. Having read this book, I now know so.
Pure Conscience, 02 Jun 2008
A book that achieves the unattainable: to reconcile science with religion and philosophies on such complex issues such as: what happens after we die?, where do we come from?, where do we go to?, why is it that we are here?, what's life's sense?, does personality survive our death?, where is God?, Will I ever see my beloved departed ones? (by the way, you bet we all will!) etc...
This Deepak Chopra's masterpiece very clearly (and in simple terms) explains how is that conscience masters us and the whole cosmos. It goes on to explain with beautiful stories, metaphors and scientific evidence the mechanisms behind our brains and mind, our bodies, our souls and the definitive connections between us all and every single "thing" in the universe. We are and everything else, the expression of the cosmos!
This book prepares us all for an inevitable outcome... so, it's both, a consolation and an inspiring source of invaluable information... definitively the kind all human beings should receive as soon as we are capable of understanding that the day we are born is the day we begin to die, only to keep on living...
Best of Chopra!, 30 May 2007
'Life After Death' is one of Chopra's best books. I am talking about this specific edition that he published with Rider in London, not about the later version entitled 'Life after Death: The Burden of Proof' that he published in the USA.
What makes the strength of the present edition of the text is that designers and the publisher really worked well to bring over Chopra's poetic content. For this book is not just scientific in the modern sense of the word; it is scientific within the oldest traditions of the world, first of all the tradition Chopra himself originates from, the wistful Vedic tradition of India, but also the erudite Hermetic tradition of the West.
This book thus is not just a book - it is an art production in a sense. It is an artful composition of poetic teaching tales and scientific text interwoven in a fantastic poetic tale. I do not presently know an author who could do such a fusion without losing his style, and get into popular science jargon. Chopra is beyond these categories, which is why he can afford to put his whole heart and soul in a book where others, afraid of public opinion in a matter that is highly controversial, would stay with the 'hard facts'. And that is truly admirable. It shows a grand soul, and a noble spirit, and it assured me that this man has not been 'Americanized' by the fact that he lives and works in the USA, but stays true to his own millenary tradition.
I would like to compliment the designers and the publisher, Rider-Randomhouse in London, for this wonderful rendition of Chopra's thoughts. The choice of the cover, the font, the layout and design, all is the work of genius, and it shows so much care taken! And this is how it should. The American edition does not deliver any of this, and I wonder why?
I have never opened a book where I was turning pages and pages of praise before I ever started to read the first sentence written by the author! But with Chopra we are more or less used to this, as he is so incredibly popular. And for good reason. He is a complete human, and not an 'intellectual eunuch' as so many of his American colleagues, both in medicine and in the coaching world. You feel that in every sentence, this completeness, the emotional and erotic intelligence of this man, his high bioenergetic charge, his latitude, his generosity, his huge understanding of the human nature, his grandeur, his royal spirit. You see that in his face, or, at least, I see that, as one of the spiritual gifts I received after my transformation was face reading.
To be true, myself being a coach, I have a rather hard stance on coaches, and especially those from the 'hero culture' (USA), but Chopra is not part of their rings. He doesn't go around inciting people to 'fire walk' so as to build their 'personal power', simply because he knows that it's not the persona's power that is the real one, but the soul's power. And that is why I bought his book - and never regretted it. It was for me a journey, and I read it parallel with Leadbeater's book 'Inner Life', and that was truly a good mix. But Leadbeater is a dry mind compared to Chopra - who is a poet, after all. And when you see that somebody is a medical doctor, a research scientist, an author and very talented speaker of his books, thus who has actor qualities, and who is an artist, and a good parent also, you begin to grasp the fact that the real human cannot fit in the drawers of this society but rather incarnates the Renaissance spirit. To finish this excurse, I would like to emphasize that compared with Leadbeater, Chopra really is the better author, as he is less academic, less convoluted, more to the point, and more holistic in his overall approach to life.
The book reminds me of those written by Sufi authors. It uses a teaching tale to build an Ariadne thread from the first to the last page that helps the reader to bridge over the necessary dryness of pages that deal with hard scientific facts and statistics, or medical issues that Chopra eruditely expands into for the obvious reason of giving flesh to metaphysical issues. And the mix he has brewed from this assemblage is really alchemical in the good sense of the word - and it has been appreciated by so many that my additional opinion may not be of importance.
I want to see the person who, after reading this book, still fears death! Really, I am not joking. I think that one of Chopra's main goals for writing this book was to help people cope with the fear of death - and he has dealt with this task in a magnificent way, indeed!

Product Description
Past life regressions are fascinating to consider, but have you ever wondered what happens between lives? In Destiny of Souls hypnotherapist Michael Newton asks dozens of his own patients to describe their lives from the moment of death right up until reincarnation into this world. Newton described this journey in his first book, Journey of Souls, and now takes us back for a second trip going into infinitely more detail. Of therapeutic interest is how spirits contact the living to help loved ones they've left behind deal with their grief. Newton assures readers that they will reconnect with those who have gone before them, even their pets. Newton documents the full range of questions one could ever think of to ask about life after death. How can a soul be in heaven and reincarnate at the same time? How are new souls created? How are souls who've done evil on earth punished? These and many other questions are answered with surprising congruity between respondents. --Ali Perry-Gallagher

We need more books like this Absolutely fantastic book!!, 28 Jun 2008
Your life has whatever meaning you attribute to it so enjoy every wonderful second of it and don't waste your time planning for a hereafter Life After Death : The Book Of Answers, 27 Jul 2008
Valuable Resource, 12 Sep 2007
As a therapist I have found Dr Newton's books an inaluable aid for my own work in regressions/progressions. And, I do recommend his books as an introduction to what lies beyond our preceptible physical world to clients, friends and acquaintances - who wish to make up their own minds.
The point here is less about whether one believes what he writes is unshakeable proof of existence beyond our senses but that these experiences open up new vistas on life and our own purposes. Even if none of it were true, one could still gain immensly from such insights.
It should alos be taken into account though that the symbolism used by Dr Newton in his descriptions is just that, symbolic represenation. It is to be safely assumed that we lack the vocabulary to express and describe things which are out of our knowledge or understanding but which we can witness on an emotional or intuitional level. You can see things, but there is no guarantee that the description you use ever matches the expressed intent of what you witnessed.
Thus Halls of Records and other descriptions are symbolic means to describe a store of patterns and experiences that may in reality be of a different feel and 'look'. We may also not see with eyes in those dimensions, but instantly know about the characteristics of what is communicated. Assumning that the experiences recounted in the book are visual, one has to be careful with claiming accuracy in those terms. We all know that the brain relates automatically to conjecture of what something could be, rather than what is.
A very helpful book for all who wish to satisfy a yearning for further knolwedge and a good resource for professionals. Well written and in easy prose, the content is made accessible to everyone.
Highly recommended. Quantitative and Qualitative - profoundly life changing. A precise description of reincarnation., 08 Jul 2006
Starting off as a sceptic, having been scientifically trained (and indoctrinated) with a PhD in Chemistry I began a journey some seven years ago having been hit by a personal trauma.
In this journey I leant about spirituality, the concept of souls, their purpose in life, love, healing and got some understanding of why bad things happen to good people.
I have found lot of books and teachers along the way but none affected me as profoundly or deeply as Michael Newton's two books Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls.
The reasons are simple the books are more clear, easy to understand and precise (almost scientific in their explanation) about a subject that always seems a bit foggy when written about by psychics. Journey of Soul is compulsive can't put down reading and helps explain why bad things happen.
Final note I strongly suggest you do not read Destiny of Souls before Journey of Souls, as it is a lot more detailed and at times even tough to read, especially as the concepts will be unfamiliar. Facinating, 23 Aug 2004
I found this book to be an excellent read and would strongly recommend it to those who, like myself, feel drawn to the subject of the afterlife etc. After reading the first chapter I could not put the book down and, in fact, I have now started on the author's second book, Destiny of Souls. Very enlightening Didn't ring true, 18 Oct 2003
It started well, all very convincing until I had read about 20 odd case studies and realised that I was hearing (reading) the same person speak all the time. I'm not sure if the transcripts were changed at all for the sake of "good read", but the subjects seemed just a tad too chatty. When asked a simple question they would elaborate to the enth degree which is not indicative of a person under hypnosis. While I'm a spiritually orientated person and no beginner to this subject, I'm sorry, it was all a little too utopian for me. A one-sided view, does not go far enough, Modi's work is bet, 25 Sep 2003
The information presented in this book about the so-called spirit world is actually describing the astral reality - the 'Middle Place' as our Gnostic ancestors referred to it - where 'lost souls' end up, and how they are 'reincarnated' as per the wishes of the Archons or Astral lords who control this reality. The information presented here has nothing to do with the true spirit world where the soul should end up in the afterlife. At least Dr Modi's work (see Remarkable Healings) with regressive hypnotherapy goes a little further, and shows how these 'lost souls' Newton is describing are actually responsible for many of our past life experiences and some of our pain and suffering. However, Dr Modi's work still does not go far enough as some of her work is still describing this astral reality, though it is a vast improvement on this particular work. For people interested in this subject there is a wealth of information to be had from these type of books if only they are able to put the information presented within them into the right context. To help the reader understand what can happen to the Soul in the Afterlife, and appreciate the work of Newton & Modi more, they should read Shopping For Spirit The Search For Truth Parts Seven & Eight at www.equilibra.uk.com - see Articles section. This information is free to print out, and although I do not agree with 100% of it, the content will undoubtedly help people to understand the relationship between the soul and the spirit and how we can resurrect the soul in this physical lifetime, thus avoiding the many pitfalls that await it's journey after death. These articles will also help people to understand the work of Newton and Modi and other similar writers from a greater spiritual perspective and make these books an invaluable source of information, and also hopefully help the soul in her journey into the afterlife. With love, Jimmy

Your life has whatever meaning you attribute to it so enjoy every wonderful second of it and don't waste your time planning for a hereafter Life After Death : The Book Of Answers, 27 Jul 2008
Fantastic. A must read, 29 Aug 2007
This book is truly brilliant, I love the way Raymond doesnt just go on about his own experiences. It is a truly wonderful collection of many wonderful stories of afterlife. BRILLIANT. A definite book to read if you want to know more about the afterlife.
superb sneak preview into our true life here and over there, 20 Nov 2006
This is a superb read, you feel like a fly on the wall, reading everyone's actual testimonies into their encounters after an out of body, death experience. Completely fascinating and a valuable insight into our larger existance. Although it's 25 odd years old, it reads as fresh and modern as if it was last week or next month. Experiences involved being out of relativity, in another dimension, spirit helpers talking and guiding you, advice and reasoning on whether to come back or not. A modern classic and stunning read.
A fascinating read about the near death experience, 09 Jul 2006
This is a fascinating read about the near death experience. It is written in a clear way and is suitably scientific as to be credible yet not full of jargon to bog down the general reader. It leaves you contemplating your own mortality, in a positive way, and helps you on your path to leading a richer, fuller life now. It can be read by any religious denomination and will make enlightening reading for many.
Clinical yet empathic way into near-death rudimentaries, 06 Nov 2001
It may be 25 years old but it's not as seriously dated as you might think. Perhaps this is why Moody's work has become one of the seminal books on the near-death experience. It is clinical, in that it is set out with the logic of a thesis but the use of case studies and quotes from the actual people he studied makes it very human and engaging. So much so, that I began to consider the experiences in light of my own life. It's a good book to pick up if you are new to the area. Not only because of its definitive status but also because it doesn't pretend to know more than what it's presenting and it does question its own hypothesis. As it is the definitive title, you can see the beginnings of what is now the accepted lingo and knowledge. It's useful and interesting to read about the stages of the near-death experience in the context in which it was first explored.

I am convinced that we are | | |
