A rip roaring romp!, 02 Feb 2004
I found this book to be not only hilarious in its dry humour but also strangely sensual and alluring. As a 56 year old nun I have had many of the burning desires for the sweet scent of a pair of womens knicker repressed. My friend Father O'Flahrety also found it to be compelling and could not but it down. We haven't seen him or my well used copy of the book since, nor Sisters Assumpta and Agatha.

I really enjoyed the tale of the sisters and there lives. But also the way they stood together when the going got tough. A good read.

Not convinced, 12 Jun 2006
I have read this collection of stories and I was not sufficiently convinced that the stories are genuinely from the Victorian period,or from Victorian authors. The collection seems to be more of a smutty collection of modern day sex dialogue aimed at satisfying male fantasies about lesbian sex.The authors have written from a male point of view, and the stories seem nothing more than supposition about what females do in the privacy of their own rooms. The language and terminology seem to be too contemporary to have been penned in the Victorian era, and this suspicion spoiled my enjoyment of the book. The editing had not picked up some very blatant errors in spelling and language, and some of the stories have been edited so badly that they are disjointed and do not make sense. All in all - a great disappointment which I would not recommend to any of my friends!

Should have been SO MUCH BETTER!!!, 08 Jun 1999
How can you miss with a book about lesbian vampires?!!! This should EASILY have been both scary and intensely erotic --- but it was NEITHER!!! Problem #1: Too many P.C. authors, trying to make their lesbian vampires champions of the political plight of lesbian women --- BORING!!! Problem #2: Very poor mixing of terror and sensuality, which like terror and humor can very often mix together very well! Problem #3: Isn't the whole vampire thing usually portrayed as an older evil guy rapaciously pursuing innocent, virginal young women? So what's so hard about replacing the older guy with a beautiful slightly older woman, having her seducing pretty young women with or without their consent? No, this book was a failure because Ms. Kesey tried to go the politically correct route, and the result is a disappointing, very un-erotic collection of so-so stories.
Great collection of lesbian vampire stories, 02 May 1999
I really enjoyed this book a lot. I read a lot of vampire stories and this book really stood out above all the others. Not only was the original lesbian vampire story "Carmilla" included, but a whole slew of other interesting stories too.

Wonderful stories about real people!!, 09 Apr 1999
After reading hundreds of lesbian stories about beautiful blondes with bods to match, it was such a refreshing change to read about the real women known as lesbians...the overweight ones, the ones with children, the ones who live in nightmare worlds of drugs and alcohol. These characters were easy to like. . .and hate.

This was a very unpleasant book. If this is a true view of lesbian mores then they are truly sick. One tale in this book ended eventually in a truly disgusting death. I had hoped to find at least a vestige of affection, care or love in these tales, but it is one cruel tale after another.
Hits the "spot", 30 Mar 2001
Just what we have been looking for. Sit back with your partner with a glass of wine (or two) and read to each other, ladies, enjoy!
