The B in CBT, 17 May 2008
Whilst Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) may be all the rage it must be acknowledged that the Behavioural bit often seems to be playing second or even third fiddle to the Cognitive bit of the title. Yet when it comes to that classic therapeutic comment "I understand what you're saying but it doesn't feel right?" otherwise known as the 'head/heart divide' you can't beat a good behavioural experiment: or as better therapists have said 'you don't have to believe me, test me'. This invaluable book (I know it has been said before) really is one of a kind, written by some of the best CBT practitioners currently working in the UK it is a resource that any therapist should have to hand. Covering a wide range of psychological disorders/ difficulties that clients present with; it offers practical, robust experiments that can be collaboratively agreed upon with the client to explore, challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs, schemas and outcome predictions that are causing the individual psychological distress. A gem of a book. One of the few on the bookshelf in my practice which really is dog eared and in regular use (and so often 'borrowed' by colleagues of all therapeutic persuasions I should put a chain on it.

Channeling to your guides, 03 Jul 2007
This book is ideal as it takes you by the hand and explains how to channel in gentle exercises which allow you to stop if you feel that it is not for you. You work at your own pace and you can actually feel as you read, that the book has been written with love. Whether this love emanates from the author or her guide or both it doesn't matter. You will feel the love surround you as you do the exercises and are guided to a place of light. Great book for anyone interested in learning to channel, 24 Oct 2006
This book provided me with exactly what I was looking for. I learned how to channel by following the instructions/exercises provided. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to connect with their guides. I've learned so much that I've since gone on to write my own book on this subject matter, titled "My Truths, Accepting Higher Knowledge".
the next step, 18 Mar 2003
I bought this book because, i have been interested in how to channel for quite some time, i am also sensitive. I wouldnt necessarily recommend this book for everybody. I think it would be useful if you had some experience of meditating first. If you do have this experience, it cuts out a proportion of the book. The reason why this is an excellent book is that if you are ready, the exercises are simple and powerful. I read this book in a day, i sat down for half an hour and bang, result. Now thats powerful. It is not a perfect book, it is for the beginner, so you may find yourself skipping between sections. Those sections are there in case you doubt yourself; they help to give you practical advice and relay others experiences which is comforting. Most people will not buy this book on a whim, if you seriously want to open to channel, this is the book to buy. Good luck.
Contains some wonderful advice on achieving a relaxed state, 17 Oct 2001
Contains some wonderful advice on achieving a relaxed state and on how to learn the art of focusing. Loving advice from the authors' guides.
Interesting read., 22 Jul 2001
This book is a very interesting read, it attempts to take you step by step into the practise of channeling.. Personally I found some of the theories quite odd. Higher self? Is this our spirit or an external influence? either way the way used to connect to it is vague and not as powerful as techniques one might find elsewhere.. none the less interesting and sometimes insightful

Many titles cause immediate rejection by people. We consider ourselves balanced enough and are doing just fine thank you very much. And yet we find that we are not quite happy and there are things that we would like to change. Or, more dangerously, we don't need to change..others do.
This is a text that does challenge you, especially if you do not have an open mind. It is a book that I put down and came back to when I realised that I was not open to change. And once you get over the fact that it is accurate and does sum up aspects of yourself, both good and bad, then it becomes a powerful change agent. I do not compare this title to others, I can say that if you are open to it then it can work for you.

I have to admit that Having read Dan Millman's peaceful warrior books I hesitated at the idea of finding your life purpose through the numbers of your birth date. Surely this has been done before with numerology??!!! So I worked out my own, read up and thought "wow that's me alright" & "how true" then " hmmm wonder if I'm just gullible?" so I tried it on family, friends and particularly those I don't know so well and blow me down only 1 out of 18 people didn't agree with their description. The 17 who did agree were really surprised at how true it all seemed and a number of them decided to buy the book themselves. So there you go, me and 17 of my family and friends think it's brilliant, a way to cut through the junk in your head, see the best you can be and leave the worst behind.
Why not?, 10 Jun 2008
Look at the Universe, either we know everything about the Universe or we don't ... either way it is mind-boggling.
Alot of people for a long time were passionately opposed to the idea that the world was not flat, despite the evidence in front of them.
It seems to me, despite our recent prowess as a species, that we do not know or understand everything about this Universe in which we live.
Whatever the source of the content of this book, the evidence that it rings true to life's experiences is compelling. All my closest family and friends match very well to their profiles.
My recommendation is to read this book with an open mind, without concern for justification of the content, just enjoy the journey and see where it leads, you may well surprise yourself and enter a part of the Universe up until now you were unaware of.
A Trully Eye Opening Book His Best Yet, 26 Apr 2008
As the title to my heading says an eye opening book so much so they should re-title "way of the peaceful warrior a book that changes lives" as peaceful warrior can & does open your eyes but "The life you were born to live" truly can change your life.
I have had this book for a while and have been reading all Dans books i now wish i had read this book straight after the "peaceful warrior".
I have had quite a few personal problems in my life of late and after reading the first two chapters of this book was shocked at the similarities it states have been truly eye opening I now know what my life purpose is i guess i did but reading dan's honest wording i am now and truly on the path to happiness.
I almost put this book down...., 25 May 2004
I picked this book up whilst browsing in a bookstore; I almost put it straight back on the shelf when I realized it was "numerology" (i.e. hokum in my experience); but on impulse, I kept on reading; and in thirty minutes I was riveted. I cannot explain HOW this works; but there is an uncanny accuracy to the insights this book reveals. I found myself with a wry grin recognizing very specific, very pertinent themes that were congruent with my experience. I have now bought the book, as I feel it might prove very helpful in understanding my wife, my children and others' life tasks. Don't let your cynicism stop you reading this book; pick it up, apply its method, and let your heart judge its value. I think you will be (pleasantly!) surprised...

Just the right words at just the right time, 04 Jul 2008
This book helps to illuminate so much. We all know that greater love is the way forward, don't we? But it can be hard to work out how to go about that. This book shows, with meditations and ideas that lead to new ways of thinking and being, how to let go of the more destructive tendencies we carry towards others and ourselves. It opens us to greater love by bypassing ego and allowing our connection to something much more wise and beautiful to prevail.
A Positive Uplifting Little Gem, 09 Oct 2007
I found this book in a second hand shop & once I returned home, I sat in my attic room; opened the first page & was transfixed.
This book is for any spirit who wishes to make their human experience more...spiritual.
I, personally, am a constant searcher of sources that will enrich my spiritual growth...and finding this book has been a wonderful addition.
I believe this book has much richness to be gained from any reader; whether they be curious, new to, or comfortably on the path (of spiritual growth).
For the curious & new; this is a wonderful, easily explained, gentle opener to a spiritual way of living.
For the ones who feel accustomed to a spiritual life, it is a gentle, soothing reminder which, for me, really encouraged me to not become disheartened if things felt a struggle or unclear at points.
This book lifts the spirit, gives hope, and highlights little steps (after each chapter there is a meditation suggested)to guide you on your way.
I've never written a review before, but this book has lit my life so brightly, I think it deserves a little credit.

A beautiful and thoughtful book that's cleverly written, so much so that years later I still remind myself that there are no ordinary moments. This moment wont come again so make it a good one. Dan Millman is not remotely preachy but instead puts his point across in a forthright, clear and precise way. I found it empowering rather than making me feel inadequate as some of these metaphysical/self help books can do. He suggests simple exercises such as breathing, meditation, bodywork etc to turn knowing into doing. "Peace comes not from the absence of conflict but from the ability to cope with it," Hopefully the moment it took for you to read this review will lead you to this book and a life of no ordinary moments.
Enjoy living in the moment, rather than for the moment!, 13 Jul 1998
I have recommended this book to many friends and students-if you've been told you are playing life at 10 and know you really are only playing at 5, then this book will assist you in discovering what's holding you back!
Less than I expected, 25 Jun 1998
After reading the two peaceful warrior books, I was ready to fall on my knees and worship Dan Millman. I anxiously awaited the book's arrival, but I found myself losing interest almost as soon as I started reading. True, as far as self-help goes, it's a gem. The quotes and stories are especially wonderful. But what happened to the mystical spirituality shown in the Way/Sacred Journey? I found this book to be almost too "practical" a guide..."smile and be happy", while certainly relevant, isn't exactly the solution I wanted to spend so much money on to hear. END
Great Book!!, 28 Jun 1997
This book is excellent. It made be realize who I am, and gave me more confidence. It's a sword for the daily battles we all face. I saw life in a new perspective; a better one. Every day was worth enjoying.

The most difficult thing is to be open, 03 Jan 2009
33/6 perfectionist, 13 Jul 2008

Uplifting and Empowering, 08 Aug 2002
The full title of this work is Living with Joy: Keys to Personal Power and Transformation. Personal power and Transformation being what this book is all about.
Although the hands that actually worked the typewriter belonged to medium Sanaya Roman, (thank you Sanaya) from page 10 onwards the actual words, or to be more precise thoughtforms belong to Orin, a "timeless Being of Light" whose self appointed mission is to heal the healers and teach the teachers. So this is a channeled teaching as Orin is discarnate and doesn't have an actual physical body at this time.
The book is laid out in 19 chapters, each containing 10 pages or so. Which means its in nice "bitesize chunks" not too taxing for the limited (my) attention span. The level of language is that of the average man in the street, so its accessible to even those with a fairly modest education.
Every second page or so contains a key concept in bold type with space around it. A bit like an affirmation I suppose you could say. The surrounding text expands the idea, and they are all listed in the contents page also - so its really easy to find an idea you wish to review. At the end of each chapter are a few simple exercises you enable you to apply what you've read to your individual circumstances. This book is very, very user friendly in the way its been written. The work of an extremely high intelligence.
Every book is an answer to a question - and only if you are asking that question at that particular time will that book connect with you.
If at this time you are aware of walking on a spiritual pathway. If your questions are "How can I heal the past and move forward? How can I raise my vibration and help others? How can I grow as a person and make a difference in the world?" If these are your questions then maybe Orin is your answer. These ideas can take you to the next level of existence.
It would be a great shame for someone interested in healing, or in personal growth not to experience the joy so many of us now have found in these pages. Orin is a beautiful spirit to connect to.
This book is the first in a trilogy by the way. And yes! the others are also as good. I,d just like to add that if this review, or the others on this book seem a little "Over The Top", its because we cannot help but reflect back the joy and the love these teaching have brought to us.
Exellent, 06 Jun 1999
This is a book that changes the way you think about everyday life, it shows you how to "be love" and how to best give it to others. There is not another book in the world that is as beutiful and loving as this one. I can promise that you will experience the change from fear to joy in a matter of days. It is really hard to describe a book like this and I would most sincerely advise anyone to read it. You don't have to be a spiritualist to enjoy this book, you simply have to want to change your life for the better. So, happy reading and love be with you.
Very insightful book; Simple to understand, 07 Apr 1999
This book is wonderfully written! All one has to do is simply open the book and there is a message on every page. This book has been a tremendous help in my spiritual growth. If you only read one book on positivety, this is the one to read! I urge everyone to check it out.
This book is magic., 27 Feb 1999
Every sentence in this book gets into your heart. You can read it several times and each time you will feel like is the first time. After you have read it, your life will never be the same. If you are prepare to grow spiritually, read it!
Lost for words - A life saver., 18 Jul 1998
When asked to review this book, I am completely lost for words, I have read it many times, and each time it gives me a new insight into something that isn't or wasn't very clear to me. Orin is the most loving spiritual being I have ever come into contact with and I wish every body could and would read all his material. Sanaya and Orin, THANKS FOR BEING THERE WHEN I NEEDED YOU.

This book is wonderfully written! All one has to do is simply open the book and there is a message on every page. This book has been a tremendous help in my spiritual growth. If you only read one book on positivety, this is the one to read! I urge everyone to check it out.

WONDERFUL!!, 30 Aug 2003
I have tears in my eyes just thinking of how much Sanaya's books have transformed my life. My first reading was Spiritual Growth, then Personal Power through Awereness. Now I am eager to read Soul Love. I guard these book as if they were the bible. After reading through them, I have been re-reading them by just opening the book to a chapter. Somehow the lesson that opens seems to be the very message that I need to hear at that time. The way these books are written are sooo full of love I am amazed and so charged by an incredable energy. THANK YOU SANAYA!!!!
The most empowering book I have ever read to date, 10 Jul 2001
This book is so precious to me I guard it with my life. Many a family member have browsed through it and tried to steal it from under my nose(without success I might add!!). For people interested in enhancing their lives in any way possible or if you are merely trying to overcome an obstacle/major problem or you just want to understand how NOT to take things others do to you personally - then this is the book for you. This book has been very aptly named. Thanks Sanaya if you ever read this!!
Extra-Sensory Abilities Explained in Full, 23 Mar 1999
If you're looking for a wonderful book on understanding psychic ability, look no further, because this one is simply the best! Sanaya Roman is the only author who explained so-called "extrasensory perception" in a way that makes coherent sense. Anyone who has ESP or the "second sight" or whatever you may wish to call it and doesn't understand the mechanics of why will find this to be the most clear and self-illuminating volume on the market.
The Truth is here ! (not out there), 18 Jul 1998
Having read "Living With Joy"(more than once)I just knew this book was something for me. And as I read it I found out that it is in fact for every one who cares about how they live and react. I am 21 years old and have sometimes thought that this is not for me. I'm just suppose to live my life and not think about these things untill I've tried life, but this book depicts life and the way you can make the most out of it by learning to sense energy. I SAY AGAIN: THANK YOU ORIN AND SANAYA.

The most difficult thing is to be open, 03 Jan 2009
33/6 perfectionist, 13 Jul 2008

A Star Read, 27 May 2005
If you have just stepped onto your path of conscious spiritual growth, this book is for you. If you have been on your path for many years, this book is for you too. There are many interesting and rewarding exercises for you to follow, encouraging you to go deeper within, then open & expand outwards. Using the techniques in Spiritual Growth will certainly assist you in knowing your Higher Self more deeply, and becoming able to hold more and more light.I recommend this book to my students. It is an excellent title to choose for study groups, and you will see results in your life if you persist with the techniques and visualisations.I have been on my path of conscious growth for may years and love to have Spiritual Growth on my book shelf, as each time I dip into it, there is something new there for me
Spiritual Growth, 18 Feb 2004
For someone on a spiritual path this book is amazing. A book to work with for meditation and growth. It is well named. Channeled information from the authors guide is very detailed and informative.
No ordinary book either, 19 May 2008
A beautiful and thoughtful book that's cleverly written, so much so that years later I still remind myself that there are no ordinary moments.
