GIFTED, WISE & ABOVE ALL A DECENT MAN, 19 May 2008
What an uplifting and enjoysble read. Colin is an exceptionally nice man that has a wonderful outlook on life and how living our lives to the fullest, and enjoying the wonderful gift of love that we've been given, is so important. He talks about some of the best messages he's received from the otherside, and gives his pearls of wisdom on top of that. there are many charlatans out there - i've seen Colin live and it's breathtaking that's full of evidence - unlike the cold -reading liars around. Even if you're a non-beleiver or are not open to this wisdom, this book could still prove to be valuable as it's a decent and uplifting read with full of hope - better than any second rate self help book. A truely great book.
Ask and you shall receive!, 14 Mar 2008
Well this is a nice read. Just got it the other week, and I recall in a previous review saying that I wished for more writing about the experiences of the show, Sixth Sense, and here they are! Hence, the title. Again this book is such a good read, nicely well written, with both the sense of humour and compassion that people are used to coming from Colin. His heart is in the right place, and for that I am forever thankful for his work. Now, if only we could persuade him to come to Adelaide! Or even Australia. New Zealand is just across the waters, a quick detour wouldn't hurt. But yeah, really good book, nice read, and one to go back on to remember certain things. One: life is worth living. Two: Challenges are there to only show you how strong you really are. This is what I got from the book, and for me that's all that's needed. Thank you again, Colin, for your work. Looking forward to the next one!
Blessed be you all.
Katherine.

A book for coping with bereavement, 23 Oct 2007
I found it to be a well-written, helpful and uplifting book. Colin Fry does not only recount some of his most memorable cases but spends a long time 'talking' you through your grief and and encouraging you to live your life as fully and as happily as possible. I read this book following the recent death of my father. I have to admit I cried through most of the book! It touched a lot of nerves but strangely, by the end of the book, I can honestly say that I feel much better. I really don't think there can be any who doubt Colin Fry's sincerity or doubt that his raison d'être is simply to help and comfort people with their loss. A wonderful book. My sincere thanks to the author - obviously a very special man.
Quality book, by a quality man., 22 Aug 2007
I read this book on Holiday, and was enthralled by the words of comfort, support, and good old fashioned positive thinking,! that in a fast moving world as the one we live in today, it made stop, and take stock, re-asses, prioritise and move on!
I wanted to leave my copy in my hotel book shelf for all to share, but knew I would want to read it again, and again!
I am home now and reading it for a second time, A Brilliant Read, Congratulations and sincere thanks to Colin Fry for sharing his vocation.
Live in good spirits, 06 Aug 2007
Colin, being well aware of his popularity, has written a book which nevertheless resists the temptation to be all about himself and instead, and with the best of intentions I think, goes through a variety of self-help and life lesson techniques, drawing on Colin's considerable knowledge as a bereavement counsellor. Mediums can get a bad press and even be confused with illusionists such as Derren Brown and Marc Salem who are very highly skilled in their own right. Whilst my understanding of mentalists' craft is pretty good (although not comprehensive) I don't see true similarities with proper (ie genuine) mediumship. This book includes an insight into how mediums may receive messages and help people. It also touches upon how Colin "ticks" and how he fully developed to much success in this sphere. He touches upon inspiring examples such as the seemingly random visitors who actually turned out to be in his life for a very good reason indeed, as he engaged in the humdrum of running his family's carpet showroom. We learn of important influences such as Michael, and Colin's view of friends and other coping mechanisms. The famous trumpet incident is gone into and described as inspiration to not let setbacks, however they may be perceived by others, to hold you down. Some of the mediumship examples and inspirational stories come from Colin's television programme, 6ixth Sense, but he adds greater value by explaining in some depth as to what he and the sitter derived from the encounter. Although the book does at times pump out cliched pop psychology, it's message about making the most of now would frankly be hard to convey in any other way. Worth every penny despite the relatively thin autobiographical content, you'll find priceless pearls of Colin's wisdom shining from page after page in that warm, charismatic way of his. A book for those who need to heal as much as followers of spiritualism; indeed, you don't have to believe in psychics to get plenty from this book, and as such it's highly recommended.

Excellent Book, 09 Feb 2008
I found this book extremely helpful and recommend it to everyone wishing to develop their psychic skills which we are all born with. Most of us just don't realise that they have these skills. But there is a reason why I have only given it four stars instead of the deserved five. This reason is that, although clear instructions are given as to how to enter your Basic Psychic Level, it wasn't clear how to come out of it again. Because the differences between your brain's normal operating level and the Basic Psychic Level are very subtle, I feel that without knowing whether or not you have come back out of it, you would wonder whether you are back to normal or wheher you could unknowingly spend the rest of the day walking round in your slightly altered state!!!
That, though, is the only complaint that I have and that is not really a complaint, just a comment. A superb book aimed mainly at beginners, that gives remarkably quick results, as has been the case with me. Strongly recommended.
Inspirational, 12 Dec 2006
This book is very precise ,it's not heavy ,and you begin to see results fast. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in psychic studies. Unlike what the reader below stated this book gives you a clear insight into the psychic realm and has stories from the author's personal life that puts the exercises into context. It's interesting and it's an easy read.Very Good.
Positive Thinking?, 09 Sep 2006
I think the essence of this book is indoctrinating people into thinking positively and thus effecting positive change in their lives and then getting them to believe it was their innate psychic ability that actually effected the change when in reality it was probably just coincidence or their determination and belief that they could achieve more with their lives.
I am not convinced that the author isn't a charlatan out to make some easy money by preaching to the gullible.
Some of his personal experiences are laughable: for example psychically moving cars on the highway. Apart from anything else this is a waste of pyschic power but perhaps the rearview mirror image of some loon bearing down on the drivers in front at 80 mph caused the drivers to pull over?
I could probably replicate this psychic exercise by driving fast behind someone in a lane. Except if I did it, it would be called tail-gaiting!
Contrary to the impression I might give here I am not cynical about esoteric areas. I have had some strange experiences with astral projection but something feels phony about Mr Hewitt. I just don't feel like he is telling the truth and to be honest I found a lot of his experiences very boring to read.
Why should the reader care about his experiences when all we want to know is how to develop our own pyschic awareness?
He keeps saying we should be able to do great things from our basic pyschic level but to get there is only a matter of a simple visualisation exercise.
What you get for your money is a couple of visualisation exercises and some minor references to other esoteric areas.
If anyone can make Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johansson fall in love with them after reading this book and practising the exercises I'll gladly change my opinion but until then I'm not convinced.

i like this book it is the second hewitt book i have bought and boath are clear concise and helpfull.i got the book a wile ago and since i started reading it ive had a more positive outlook and my abilities have increaced threefold. it has clear tecniques and some case studys it's all to the point.the book is mainly the exercises and case studys very little useless theory.not bad for a book marketed as new age
Straight Forward!!!, 21 Jul 2004
I am finding this book fantastic to read as it is very straight forward and to the point. The author is a real decent person who I could easily relate to. The book focuses on awakening your psychic awareness with exercises to guide you. Also he tells you stories relating to the exercises in order to make you understand the meaning a lot better. The only reason why I bought the book in the first place is because I found the previous reviews to be very helpful. I would reccomend this book to anyone who knows they have got to develop their skills.

Product Description
Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field, by Barbara Ann Brennan, is a scientist's look at the field of bioenergetic healing--offering specific techniques towards expanding perceptual tools of healing, seeing auras, understanding psychodynamics and the human energy field, and spiritual healing. Trained as a physicist and psychotherapist, Brennan has spent the last 15 years studying the human energy field and working as a healer. Hands of Light goes beyond conventional, objective knowledge while retaining scientific clarity. It details a study of the human energy field and how it is intimately connected to a person's health and well-being and contains essential information for anyone involved in healing and conscious health care, including people seeking to heal themselves. Science and spirituality may currently be at odds, but fortunately there will always be scientists who are spiritual seekers, and it is in the mingling of the two worlds that wisdom is born. --Jodie Buller

I would reccomend this book to anyone who knows they have got to develop their skills. A useful reference guide for healers , 25 Jul 2008
This book is a useful guide to the basics of energy healing - talking about the human energy field, auras, chakras, the causes of illness, etc, and doing so in a clear, easy to understand way.
When it gets to the energy work, and in particular, the act of healing and seeing, it seems to imply that there is only one way of doing it. But the visions that we each of us see when we heal are different, depending on the individual and the sorts of symbols that have meaning for each one. Indeed, some healers don't see anything at all, but work entirely from intuitive feeling, for example.
My feeling on this book is that it is a useful resource, but that we each need to trust the information and intuitions that we receive ourselves, in order to open up our own higher perceptions. If you find yourself judging your own perceptions as not being "as good as" the author's, just relax and don't worry. They are as good. They're just yours.
I have come across a number of healers who feel they aren't "doing it right" after reading this book, when in fact, they're doing just fine. This is not the fault of the author - it has more to do with the tendency of healers to worry about their own progress and compare it to others.
So, my recommendation is this: read the book. It's full of good information. Then keep the information you can readily assimilate in your own work, and don't worry too much about the other stuff. If you need it, you'll encounter it again. Fantastic Book, 06 Jul 2008
A great book as it explains so much.
I now realise where my Reiki teacher got some of here references from as well as my crystal healing diploma teaching. This covers so much and is a great reference to be used by all including those starting out who need as explanation to things and those who are established therapists and want to look back on something.
Highly recommended. Detailed, and quite deep - heavy for beginners.., 26 Sep 2005
If your aim is to understand auras and the application of that knowledge, the book has quite a lot of background and data, all in a credible, clear scientific way. It doesn't quite offer as quick a HOWTO to reading an aura as "Auras: See Them In Only 60 Seconds!" by Mark Smith, so maybe get both if you're just venturing into this. One of the strongest recommendations for this book was that I was given its title by someone in Bangkok who is apparently Thailands' best (known) aura reader - and it was quite a life changing experience..
I Love This Book! Part of a Good Foundation, 29 Nov 2004
This is a book that should be on every healer's shelf. There is constantly new information on variations of this subject. I also have witnessed several times how the power of prayer and the patient's spirituality affects the body, both emotionally and physically. I do a lot of reading, and am currently very moved with a new book called The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide and the information there, but that is to be expected as we move forward in our awareness of integrative medicine. Mankind is taking great, wonderful strides forward right now, and not a moment too soon! Read this book and start a collection that leads you to insight and wisdom. Both books also have excellent- though differing - suggestions into developing medical intuitiveness. Let's be open to as many tools as possible in this new paradigm.
Hands of light, 16 Mar 2004
I bought this book to read more about the energy field their purpose and effect in a little more depth and I wasn't disappointed. As a Reiki level 3 healer I find this book of tremendous value. One of the main one's to me is, as some of us cannot see energy colour, I have found by showing the people I treat the illustration in the book (of healer and client) is benifical. They can see and picture the energy in all its glorious colours they are receiving. Personal feed back from all I've treated are very pleased by this simplistic explaination. Barbara Brennans books are a must for beginers and experienced healers.

A very inspiring book that will change the way you look & feel about life.
No amount of stars can do this book justice, just go out and get a copy.
This book will help you to see life and death in some many positive ways and once you finishing reading it, im almost certain it will help you cope with anything that life has to throw at you.
I am very much a believer when it comes to life after death and im glad people like Colin give hope and believe to us all.
A book worth reading again and again.
A book for those who need to heal as much as followers of spiritualism; indeed, you don't have to believe in psychics to get plenty from this book, and as such it's highly recommended. spiritual uplifting, 03 Aug 2007
this book will fetch calm into your life i watch sixth sense reading this has made me look at my life in a new way, it helps you understand holding on to past and not forgiving will hold you back, taking notice of colin will bring peace from within, you feel calm just reading it,he is a wonderful medium who wants to help you lead a better life, i recommend this highly i also read [the calling of your true self]both these books will serve fine examples of the spirit world and help you have a better life Excellent Book, 09 Feb 2008
If anyone can make Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johansson fall in love with them after reading this book and practising the exercises I'll gladly change my opinion but until then I'm not convinced.
it works and quickly, 20 Apr 2006
i like this book it is the second hewitt book i have bought and boath are clear concise and helpfull.i got the book a wile ago and since i started reading it ive had a more positive outlook and my abilities have increaced threefold. it has clear tecniques and some case studys it's all to the point.the book is mainly the exercises and case studys very little useless theory.not bad for a book marketed as new age Straight Forward!!!, 21 Jul 2004
I really enjoyed reading this book. Becky is straight talking and seems very down to earth. A great book for the more advanced psychic. Lots of usefull tips. More please Becky.
A good and simple guide for anyone, 28 Jan 2008
I found this book was very easy to read and follow which made it easy to absorb as there is a lot information and examples of Becky Walsh's experiences with her work in this area. The book is a great tool for anyone who wishes to enter this world, helping to recognise when in certain situations with sittings, what can crop up. It also helps as it gives information which can help you realise that you are good at the work you do. I would recommend this book as it is a clear guidance on the experiences that may occur and gives practical help on how to deal with these situations with explanation as to why it could be occurring. It also opens the mind to things that can happen which one may not have thought of. There are also meditations to help with your development.
A 'must' have, 22 Jan 2008
This book really helped me with my psychic development. I found it down to earth and not preaching on about how brilliant the author is which I have found in other books.
I'd recommend it to everyone who wants to have useful psychic skills, not just for readings but for their own life too.
A spiritual must , 17 Jan 2008
I have read many books on spiritual and psychic development but this one stands out from the crowd in its ability to talk to the reader in a no nonsense way whilst at the same time being crammed full of historical perspective, "real" practical anecdotes and guidelines for becoming professional. There is much debunking of psychic "myth" and Becky Walsh does not shy away from scientific research and meeting the sceptics head on. For the curious developer to the established professional, there is food for thought here- very much a "psychics' Bible" as the introduction claims
Blinding, 16 Jan 2008
This was very easy to read and to follow and I "got it" therefore read it very quickly. Walsh has a real talent explaining simply and clearly and with humour. It's been really helpful in my development and I will definitely reading her other stuff. V V Good!

A very interesting and comforting read, 15 Nov 2007
I really enjoyed this book and found it a great comfort to read that our loved ones and our pets continue living after their phsyical death and Allison gives us plenty of examples of this.
I believe most of us have psychic abilities which we chose to ignore and, reading this book, I recognised times in my own life when there has been psychic intervention.
I have only given it 4 stars because, like some of the other reviewers, I felt at times I wanted more depth and insight but I guess there are always going to be more questions than answers.
Having said that, I think this is a good read for those who are interested in mediums and it will bring comfort for the bereaved. Recommended.
Disappointed, 09 Sep 2007
I got this book as a fan of the TV series, wanting to know more about Allison's experiences as a medium and as a psychic criminal profiler and was disappointed. The book seems mainly to be a guide on how to be a good medium, like a medium self help manual.
Obviously for someone like me who doesn't have the psychic gift or children in whom it might develop, it just didn't give what it promised in the write up.
I was looking forward to 'Allison shares fascinating stories of her encounters with people who have passed away and her adventures as a criminal profiler' and found actual stories and detail sadly lacking.
A real shame, I remain a fan of Allison and of the TV series, but would not recommend this book if you are wanting more of what the series offers.

what can I say about this book except it is absolutely superb. If you are mourning the death of a loved one this book will give you reassurance that the dead are still with us and happy.
Don't Kiss Them Goodbye - my wifes review, 05 Nov 2005
My husband bought this book as a gift for me and I really enjoyed reading about Allison DuBois since I have also been following the TV programme 'The Medium' based on Allisons life. Without giving too much away in my review - this book is excellent for anyone who is learning about their own 'gift' or who has children with the 'gift' - plus Allison gives an insight into her own life as a medium - doing what she was born to do - helping people understand that life continues after physical death.

Product Description
Past life regressions are fascinating to consider, but have you ever wondered what happens between lives? In Destiny of Souls hypnotherapist Michael Newton asks dozens of his own patients to describe their lives from the moment of death right up until reincarnation into this world. Newton described this journey in his first book, Journey of Souls, and now takes us back for a second trip going into infinitely more detail. Of therapeutic interest is how spirits contact the living to help loved ones they've left behind deal with their grief. Newton assures readers that they will reconnect with those who have gone before them, even their pets. Newton documents the full range of questions one could ever think of to ask about life after death. How can a soul be in heaven and reincarnate at the same time? How are new souls created? How are souls who've done evil on earth punished? These and many other questions are answered with surprising congruity between respondents. --Ali Perry-Gallagher

Katherine. No amount of reviews can do this book justice, go and buy it. , 09 May 2008
A very inspiring book that will change the way you look & feel about life.
A book for those who need to heal as much as followers of spiritualism; indeed, you don't have to believe in psychics to get plenty from this book, and as such it's highly recommended. spiritual uplifting, 03 Aug 2007
this book will fetch calm into your life i watch sixth sense reading this has made me look at my life in a new way, it helps you understand holding on to past and not forgiving will hold you back, taking notice of colin will bring peace from within, you feel calm just reading it,he is a wonderful medium who wants to help you lead a better life, i recommend this highly i also read [the calling of your true self]both these books will serve fine examples of the spirit world and help you have a better life Excellent Book, 09 Feb 2008
If anyone can make Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johansson fall in love with them after reading this book and practising the exercises I'll gladly change my opinion but until then I'm not convinced.
it works and quickly, 20 Apr 2006
i like this book it is the second hewitt book i have bought and boath are clear concise and helpfull.i got the book a wile ago and since i started reading it ive had a more positive outlook and my abilities have increaced threefold. it has clear tecniques and some case studys it's all to the point.the book is mainly the exercises and case studys very little useless theory.not bad for a book marketed as new age Straight Forward!!!, 21 Jul 2004
Lots of usefull info. , 13 Mar 2008
V V Good!

I really enjoyed this book and found it a great comfort to read that our loved ones and our pets continue living after their phsyical death and Allison gives us plenty of examples of this.

As a therapist I have found Dr Newton's books an inaluable aid for my own work in regressions/progressions. And, I do recommend his books as an introduction to what lies beyond our preceptible physical world to clients, friends and acquaintances - who wish to make up their own minds.
The point here is less about whether one believes what he writes is unshakeable proof of existence beyond our senses but that these experiences open up new vistas on life and our own purposes. Even if none of it were true, one could still gain immensly from such insights.
It should alos be taken into account though that the symbolism used by Dr Newton in his descriptions is ju | | |
