A great way to start planning your wedding, 04 Dec 2008
We bought this for ourselves as soon as we got engaged. I admit it was more because I wanted to buy lots of lovely wedding things than because I thought it was useful.
However it has been really useful.
It is an A4 lever arch lized ring binder - very big but I am finding I need it that big to add all my ideas in to. It looks lovely in black because it makes a great back drop to the photos, classy looking.
This folder is broken down into about 10 sections. Such as
Getting started
wardrobe
Attendants
Flowers
Ceremony
Reception
Photographer
Hair and Beauty
On the day
Mood Board
- plus a small sub-section for grooms
Each section has a divider with a pocket to help keep things together and put loose items in to keep them safe. There are cards to write ideas in to and you can download a lot of the cards from the website.
The mood board at the backis a brilliant thing. It's a 3x A4 foldaway card that you can start sticking pictures and ideas on from magazines. It sounds silly but it really helps gets ideas together and
There is a plastic card holder for about 12 cards plus an A4 sized plastic zip-lock bag to hold swatches/bits and bobs in.
There is also a calendar - although from what I hear this will not be available after 2010 (there are calendars up to 2010 on the planner website).
The down sides are minimal but I think this file should be available in optional A5 size (or have a portable filofax style accompanyment)- the folder is hard to transport and gets heavy quickly.
I wish they had a bigger grooms section on it's own. My groom knows a lot of what I am doing but it's not right somehow for men to be so marginalised in the process and hard for him to dip into the file without seeing all my ideas in there. PLEASE WEDDING PLANNERS - remember the groom is 50% of the relationship!
All in all this folder was well worth the £30 I spent. You have to come to the file with ideas - it is definitely one for the couple who are buying all the magazines, it goes with them beautifully.
A must-have for any bride to be, 10 Aug 2008
I looked at many different wedding planners before deciding on this one, and I'm really glad I did. The folder is beautifully presented with loads of sheets for notes and checklists, to help you get your ideas together and keep yourself organised. It is split into loads of sections, each one with a pocket for bits and pieces you've collected, and a little plastic zip-up folder at the back for keeping important bits nice and safe. There are some lovely photos, lots of great tips, and the best thing about it is that it's a ring binder, so you can add plenty of extra bits yourself. So many of the other planners are spiral-bound so you're restricted to fitting everything in the pockets provided. However, with this you can add extra sheets, photos, all your paperwork, everything. It can be really personalised and will be a wonderful keepsake after the wedding. I would highly recommend this for any bride-to-be!!
Fantastic, 10 May 2008
If you are completely new to organising anything as big as a wedding this will help you so much. From the smallest things, to the biggest things that you need - this helps you every step of the way.
Mine is packed with ideas that I never would have thought of without this. Brilliant! My Dad is thrilled - haha.
wedding planner, 30 Jun 2007
i keep hearing the key to good planning is organisation. well this wedding planner file will really help. there are other planners available but this one suits my stlye and thats why i bought it. it is split into different section which again help to organise. however, alot of the info in the folder is also in the book and it would have been nice to be supplied with more empty wallets etc (shop bought ones dont fit so well) overall, i am happy with this purchase.
Don't judge a book by it's cover!, 26 Jun 2007
When I saw this I thought it would be quite a nice birthday present for my best friend who has recently got engaged. The image showing the front cover showed the "book" as though it was quite stylish and although there wasn't much of a product description, the online reviews made it sound great. Even £19.50 didn't seem too much for a big, hardback "book". I was quite suprised and disappointed therefore to find that when it arrived it was in fact nothing more than a large ringbinder, with a few pockets and sheets of paper with "tips" on that quite frankly could have come from almost any wedding magazine and/or website. £19.50 for an oversized filofax is not good value for money, particularly when it's 3/4 empty for you to "personalise and add essential paperwork". What was supposed to be a useful birthday present has proved to very disappointing.

Read this in one night - and although I am at the beginning of the planning process - it made me laugh out loud, and I reckon it will be well-thumbed by the big day and beyond!!
Agree with the other reviewers, it is not very focussed on the actual planning - but is a great accompaniment to a countdown planner.
Lighten your mood & keep things in prespective., 02 May 2003
My chief bridesmaid has bought me this book. I found it to be more useful than I originally thought. This book is a good guide for the busy bride. If you find that you are virtually organising your wedding on your own, and that at times it gets a bit too stressful, this book will help lighten your mood and give you a realistic but amusing perspective on your situation. With great references to all aspects of planning a wedding, and all people involved, you will often find yourself confirming out loud and sympathetically -'I know! I Know! With so many myths and changes between the traditional and modern ettiquet, this book will help you feel as though you're planning your perfect day after all and not the worst social event of the century. Even my fiance was caught leafing through it for pointers!! In summary- this book will definitely answer a few questions for you, and give you a realistic scope of expectations whilst planning your big day. Post wedding advice is also included, reminding you that planning your wedding day shouldn't be hard work- it's all about having fun and that life still goes on afterwards. Reviewer: Miss Sarit Levi, Nottingham Laugh out loud funny and extremely helpful!, 12 Jan 2003
This is a great book when you are starting to get dragged down by the seriousness of magazines, other books and relatives! It covers first hand experiences of all aspects of planning a wedding, giving you great ideas and pointing out potential pitfalls. On top, it is written in such a way that I have found myself laughing out loud. A very helpful and light hearted book. A must read if you're a bride-to-be!, 01 Nov 2002
If like me you are a giddy bride-to-be, but don't want to bore your friends with non-stop wedding talk, this is definitely the book for you! If you've already spent weeks (or months!) reading wedding books and magazines, this book will tell you nothing new. But it will put a smile on your face, and make you even more excited about the prospect of being a bride for a day! Buy it, read it, then pass it on to all of your bridesmaids, best man, groom (!), mum and dad, and anyone else who's involved in your wedding, to make sure they know what you expect from them! Fab!!
A fun read, but not terribly useful, 14 May 2002
I thought this book was fun to read but I have to say that it didn't tell me anything terribly useful or insightful about planning my wedding. Buy this for a relaxing read but don't expect it to give you a vast amount of useful information.

Every chapter contradicts the last. It seems to be a mess of platitudes, no new ideas and, I'm sorry to say, a waste of time reading.
Unaccustomed as I am ..., 02 Nov 2002
An excellent book. My dad would be first to admit he isn't a naturally gifted public speaker and he gets a bit nervous at times. But after reading this book, he a fantastic job for me on my Big Day! He was so relaxed and he got the balance between humour and seriousness spot on. I can't recommend this book too highly ... it's brilliant!

A must for every Dad about to give away his daughter!, 23 Oct 2000
As a bride-to-be, I want to be sure that my big day goes as smoothly as possible. I can try to control most things, but the speeches are out of my hands. I have bought this book to help my Dad not to embarrass himself or me, well, not too much! Making the Father of the Bride's Speech is easy to read and full of practical advice. The author writes clearly about the different stages of the speech and includes helpful ideas as well as examples of jokes, quotes and how to be sensitive without being sloppy. This book is a must for any Dad about to give away his daughter, especially if he's not used to public speaking, or just totally overwhelmed about the do's and don't's of making a wedding speech.

Really informative, however not sure if it is for the price., 31 Oct 2008
I bought this book and the "Wedding bible planner" after having read the mixed reviews where some were stating that it was not worth the price paid, while others said it was a "must have". Having bought this book, I would say that I agree with both views. I picked up new tips, hints etc. from this book, however some of the other information I already knew from reading wedding magazines and the internet. It is a nice book to have if you have the budget to buy it, however, if you are on a budget (due to the financial costs of a wedding)I would refrain from buying this.
Nevertheless, I would recommend buying the "Wedding bible planner" which is more of "toned down version" of the book with the essential tips. In addition to this, you can use it as a keepsake and store all your ideas, photos, contacts etc.
not worth it, 09 Sep 2008
This book has nothing original to offer. The pictures are so cheesy (the wedding photo nightmare: looking back on the day and wondering what the hell you were thinking) and the rest seems to be a well hidden marketing campaign. I was expecting a whole lot more for the hefty price I paid.
The best place to start when planning a wedding!, 30 Dec 2006
This book is absolutely brilliant...it covers EVERYTHING and answers all the questions or concerns you might have about weddings...this is definitely the book to read before planning your wedding...it's even sutable for the 'bride on a budget' as it has a specific section on each chapter on this...this book is highly recommended for anyone that is planning their own wedding or helping someone else to do so.
Wedding must have!, 23 Aug 2006
This book is absolutely fantastic! It covers all the little areas that are easy to miss and even provides extremely handy count downs for each aspect of your wedding!
It also provides tips to ensure the best of your day from a drinks calculator to handy speech hints.
For the bride it has everything you need to know about dresses, veils, shoes etc.
I thoroughly recommend this book to every bride, groom, mother, father, sister and attendants! What are you waiting for!
The ONE to BUY , 26 Jul 2006
I'm NOT the Bride. I'm the friend of the Groom and sympathetic ear to the Bride!
I had to step in and do something as it was clear the Groom was doing nothing, and over the past 10 years of our friendship I can happily conclude that he would have carried on doing nothing if action wasn't taken. So, I bought this book as a belated Engagement present to save the Brides sanity and to give the Groom a good kick up the backside.
As a result, the Groom has now woken up to the fact that there is plenty to be getting on with even if they do have 12 months before the wedding. The Brides sanity is saved.
For the Bride she has found this invaluable as it's helped her with wedding etiquette and planning, and of course getting the Groom to make some decisions before the BIG day. It's fantastically illustrated, beautifully presented and insightfully written. The Author REALLY does know what she is writing about.
I can therefore say with confidence that this is a very good buy, so good in fact that I have bought two copies and I can imagine I will be buying many more in the future as more of my friends get married. It's a life line for all future Brides and Grooms.

Keeps you sane!, 23 Jul 2007
Contradictions aplenty, 09 Jan 2008
Every chapter contradicts the last. It seems to be a mess of platitudes, no new ideas and, I'm sorry to say, a waste of time reading.
Unaccustomed as I am ..., 02 Nov 2002
An excellent book. My dad would be first to admit he isn't a naturally gifted public speaker and he gets a bit nervous at times. But after reading this book, he a fantastic job for me on my Big Day! He was so relaxed and he got the balance between humour and seriousness spot on. I can't recommend this book too highly ... it's brilliant!
This book is a must for every 'father of the bride', 02 Nov 2002

I was expecting a whole lot more for the hefty price I paid.

this book is a very good book to read.
it is simple to understand with lots of pictures to give you ideas for shooting your own wedding.
as i am new to the scene i found the book very useful.
im not much of reader but found myself not being able to put the book down.
i would recommend this to anyone who is interested in doing wedding photography.
In a class of its own!, 19 Jul 2008
I have several books on wedding photography - and this is out there in a class of its own! I can't recommend it highly enough.
Very readable, packed with beautiful and inspiring images - but much more importantly it exudes an effortless confidence and also the wisdom that can only be gathered from the years of experience the writers have had at the top of the wedding photography profession. The tips and advice they have condensed between the covers of this book are relevant, well explained and convey a real passion for what they do.
I also like that it doesn't get distracted with general photographic advice or technicalities but focuses 100% on how to create stunning photographic stories of a couple's wedding day. It's up to date, fresh and a true inspiration.
My other wedding photography books will now be gathering dust!!!!
A Great Book, 25 May 2008
As a keen amateur photographer I have been second shooter on a couple of weddings for a friend of mine who is a pro and I found this book really useful. Full of great hints and tips that can easily be put into practice, even with my limited experience!! Julie & Steve are two extremely knowledgable & talented photographers having won multiple awards between them so they know what they are talking about. They are also thoroughly nice people ..... I have been lucky enough to meet them on a number of occasions as they took my wedding photographs 3½ years ago and a fantastic job they made of them too!
Inspirational book, 27 Mar 2008
I'm a serious amateur photographer and people are just starting to entrust me with their wedding photography which feels a bit daunting. This is really great book for people like me who have just about enough grasp of the technical side of photography but need the ideas and inspiration to set about doing something really special for the bride, groom, and everyone else at the wedding. I shall be nicking these ideas shamelessly - a really worthwhile purchase!
Excellent Book, 09 Aug 2007
This is a fine wedding book. It is the most clearly organised and simply, useful, of all the wedding books I have read. The photography is consistently good throughout and it is modern without being overtly so. I very much enjoyed reading it and it provides an excellent, balanced guide to wedding photographer for photographers of all standards. Highly recommended

This book is absolutely brilliant. The author tells you all you need to know about a best man's duties (and his all-important speech!) in a straightforward and really humorous way. I found it invaluable and cannot recommend it too highly. Thanks, John, as you promised in the blurb of your book, you turned a terrifying prospect into a piece of (wedding) cake!

Keeps you sane!, 23 Jul 2007

It's a life line for all future Brides and Grooms.
good, 20 Aug 2008
this book is a very good book to read.
it is simple to understand with lots of pictures to give you ideas for shooting your own wedding.
as i am new to the scene i found the book very useful.
im not much of reader but found myself not being able to put the book down.
i would recommend this to anyone who is interested in doing wedding photography.

Beautiful and innovative wedding cakes, 28 Nov 2008
This is the fisrt wedding cakes books of Debbie. I love it. You can see the designs on her web page, they are really different compare to the usual wedding cake designs, they are fun and happy. For each designs there are also mini cake examples to go with it. The recepie section is a lot betten then any other DB books because there are a lot more recepies both for the sponges and the fillings. Step by step instruction is excellent and photographs are beatiful. It's a real shame it only holds 12 designs, they are so beautiful I would have liked a lot more!!! Bravo Debbie, as usaul...
Beautiful Book for Special Occasions, 25 Oct 2008

If you are a fan of Debbie's work this book is a must for your collection
