difficult to put down - I'm as suprised as you!, 27 Jan 2007

`archiving websites` doesn`t sound interesting, in many ways its not. The whole concept of websites to many is the speed at which they change, the computer fraternity is hell bent on pushing forward, I am one of those sorts. But we all know the frustration of pages we needed disappearing overnight. Oh and I dont much like books, they are generally out of date before they`re published, but this griped me until the end.

Getting back on track, this book provides information on all aspects of web archiving, from; how to select pages to legal and copyright issues to preservation, future trends and so much more.

In under 250 pages of fairly large type and diagrams/grey images this paperback, provides a full and comprehensive guide to all aspects of archiving in the current web model. Anyone who wants to archive any web resource will find this a god send.

Every chapter is fully referenced giving a fantastic array of further reading and website examples to research further making this book joyfully concise and an easy read.

Good, but very specific for the USA, 17 Apr 2007
This is a good book on museum store management, with very practical advice and lots of personal & inside business experience from the author. Most facts and examples apply mainly to the US, however, and might not be very helpful in other countries. Also the assortment discussed is a bit folksy, which might work for most small US museums dealing with history, but not so much for art, technology etc. On the whole, it is one of the few books focussing on the topic, so it may as well deserve 3 stars - for the US it would probably be 4.
