A Modest but Entertaining Book., 01 Jul 2006
A modest book, rather expensive for only 59 pages but achieves what it sets out to do - namely advise on the purchase of an E-Type. Deals with the subject in a simple non technical way & is written in clear English so that even the technically challenged can follow the narrative. Nonetheless it can also be used by the more experianced as a check list of points which may otherwise be missed. I would have liked larger photo's since its sometimes difficult to relate the latter to the photo's caption. However, I imagine cost, precluded this option. I liked the book & would welcome further efforts from Mr Crespin.

Very misleading product description, 10 Jan 2008
The text on the back of the book says: "This pocket-sized, illustrated guide covers every significant make and model of car sold in Europe and North America during the 2006-2007 model year, from giants like Ford and VW to small-scale manufacturers such as Morgan and Noble."
Those manufacturers not deemed to be major enough include Lincoln, Buick, Acura, Pontiac, Infiniti and Bristol. Among the products not listed is one of N America's best selling passenger cars, the Toyota Camry.
At the other end of the scale the omission of Bristol means the books misses both cars that are important because of their sales figure and important because of their engineering and automotive interest. This kind of glaring ommission is characteristic. In no way is this book worth the money, being neither particularly interesting nor comprehensive.
Disappointing, 29 Jan 2007
I guess my general dissatisfaction stems from the fact that I expected thing the Car Guide does not deliver.
It is limited to pretty much the European market only (actually little not on sale in the UK is in there) - the reference to the US market is overstated - only cars likely to be present as grey imports in the UK are in the guide. In addition to not covering anything on sale outside the UK it also does not cover specialised manufacturers very well - only the really well known ones make it into the Car Guide.
Which then begs the question of focus. If it is meant as a shopping guide for the average user, not particularly interested in cars in general, it does no better a job than the Knowledge sections at the back of most car magazines. And it cannot deliver on the information needs of the enthusiast, as the hard to obtain information, someone like that is looking for, are missing anyway.

Medicre Book, 21 Dec 2008
Mediocre. A small book with even smaller photo's which says absolutely nothing new. Any enthusiast would be better off buying Nigel Thorleys book on the XJS.

Beware! The two other reviews on this page refer to two completely different books from the one published by Veloce, one by the same author, one not. This is evident from the fact that both reviews are dated before this book was published! Having said that, this IS a great book charting a historical survivor from the 1940s (when it was first conceived) with many still running today. There are loads of books and magazines with photos of Minors, so perhaps the best feature of this book is the many contemporary illustrations, often conveying a nostalgic sense of a lost era - if it ever existed. The Mini was an icon and rightly so, but the Minor wormed its way into the hearts of many people as few cars do - perhaps in the post-war period only the Citroen 2CV, the VW Beetle and the Fiat 500 garner the same affection. All popular, yet attaining a classless charisma. Morris Minor {Essential Buyers Guide }, 03 Jul 2007
If you are a Morris Minor fan and thinking of buying one of these classics then this is THE book for you. Its crammed with very useful infomation of the cars history and what to look for when buying backed by many great photos. Ive read a few of the books on this little classic car but this is heads above them all.
Go for it.

Wakefield. we all love the moggie!, 03 Oct 2003
this is a cracking little book, cheap price, a fabulous selection of photos of early moggies through to the 1,000,000th model, and all the variations and light commercials are here. There is even a chapter on overseas production. Shire never fail to amaze how much they include in their paperbacks, which makes their books bargains! The front cover pictures a gorgeous blue minor 1000 convertable, that picture alone is worth the retail price!
