This book teaches the sticky and often confusing subject of Hilbert spaces primerily through clear examples that it encourages you try before looking at the hints section or the solutions - how mathematics should be taught! It covers everything you'll ever need at an undergraduate level such as spectral theory, compact Hermitian opeators and the Fredholm alternative. An excellent book.

This book is an excellent survey of Banach Space Theory, and an invaluable resource. It's too terse, but then again, most reference books are.
