A very basic book, 11 Jan 2008
If you really want to learn how to use the product, then this book will not be of any real use.
It covers a few basics such as logging on, and indicates a few other simple functions within the system. However, there is simply not enough depth to make it of any value. You could certainly learn everything in the book in a 24 hour period; possibly even a 24 minute period. The software product is simply too big to cover in adequate depth in a single book - and this one fails to do much more than cover some issues that are in the SAP help files.
However, the limited amount of information is well presented - it might be of some assistance to a complete novice to help cover some of the basic knowledge required to get them started. But they will very quickly need to look for more information than is covered by this book.
It does not teach, 23 Mar 2007
If you are SAP user, this book will not help you at all. I bought the book and hoped to have some coherent descriptions on finance and controlling modules of SAP. Instead the book fails to give a good account of what SAP does or does not.
SAP is a mighty expensive system and it takes many staff to do basic things that can be done easily on any accounting software package. In my company, there is nobody with a good understanding of what SAP does or does not.
This book is a selling pitch for two consultants who work for SAP. The book is written in a very unfinancial way and it is a bore to read.

A definitive and easy to follow guide on SAP Sales and Distribution, 29 Apr 2008
This book is even better than the brilliant first edition. It has been updated for ECC5 and ECC6 and it has more screenshots, better print and more tips and tricks than the first edition. (And is a better quality). There is an appendix on all the SD transaction codes. The book covers nearly all SD topics; from basic introduction of ERP and SD organisational data to configuration of nearly everything from pricing, document types, ATP, through to advanced functionalities like user exits and step by step guides on how to use ABAP queries etc. It is a gold mine of tips and tricks and would be recommended to anyone who is either configuring SAP SD or wishes to understand the nuts and bolts of this SAP module and its integration within SAP.

You do not learn much about SAP ERP with this book, 16 May 2008
In my opinion this book doesn't really teach you much about SAP ERP. Instead it goes on and on about how great SAP software is and how your company is going to save by using these products. Unless you want to read 270 pages about how great SAP ERP is, do yourself a favor and buy another book.

Excellent book, 22 Feb 2004
Very good book for anybody, interested in the subject. A lot of information with practical examples. Very good tables - case studies of previous implementation within big organizations. Practical.
not very useful for SAP implementation, 28 May 2001
The book promises more than it turns out to be. Surely you will find it very useful if you're looking for a description of a (any) project, but it doesn't specifically give you the information you need to successfully implement SAP. For example, no information is given about SAP components and related pitfalls or problems. It is just another project management book. Given the title, I had other expectations and was very disappointed the way the book turned out to be.

ERP Systems, 13 Aug 2003
Good, comprehensive books on ERP systems are rare. I found this book to be a sophisticated attempt to capture the main technical and organisational features of system implementation. The chapter on the procurement and the selection of suppliers was particularly useful.
