Too many illustrations leave the format of the pages in a muddle and obscure the important text. A coffee table book and not really one for serious study at A level. Helps alot.... neccessaty for geog A level, 10 Oct 2006
This geography text book, by Waugh, is the main book we use at our school. The massive size means it has an answer to almost every geography related question. I have resorted to buying one of these for my own use as carrying them back and forth from school, is, lets say, painful. Although it is a massive book, and a brilliant one, it doesnt give all the neccassary info that is needed to ghet an A grade. This means that you cannot just rely on this book!!!!!!
A shame i know, but, if you didnt have, or use it... well, lets not go there.
Hope this has helped people... Bulky -- good thing??, 03 Apr 2005
Good book with lots of information, but perhaps too much (especially if your used to last minute revision like me) None of the information is in note form so you'll have to pull out the relevent stuff you need for your exam/ assignments yourself. To be entirely honest, I have exams in 2 months and just looking at the hefty size of the book puts me off it completely. A very good approach, 22 Mar 2005
This is probably the best geography book. David Waugh is a renowned geographer and an expert in his field. The text is so simple that one read will let you understand it thoroughly. I'm in Vancouver, Canada, and in International Baccalaureate programme, and this is THE text book we use. Arguably the best! Suitable.., 01 Feb 2004
In school/Colleges, this book is quite often refered to as a key-text. However, much of the material is stolen, and is occasionally incorrect. If you plan to take your geography studies further, do not buy this book, it will get you into bad habbits!

Geography has never been so easy!, 13 Oct 2001
The book covers the new AS syllabus very well and the case studies chosen were very useful in illustrating theories. They also illustrate quite well, the spatial and temporal variations required of the syllabus. I thoroughly recommend this book for students and teachers who are still getting their heads around the syllabus as it contains sufficient detail to satisfy examiners, yet brief enough to make life easier.

One of my daughter's favourite books, 24 May 2005
I want to recommend this book to other parents, as I really enjoy reading this book to my one year old. It is a refreshing change to all the other children's books out there. As you turn each page you have a hole in the middle of the book to look through, so you can become that animal on the page and make the animal's noise. It is very educational and teaches your child about all the different animals in the jungle and the sounds each makes. My daughter has now started imitating me by looking through the hole herself and making the roaring sounds of the bear and lion. I have also purchased 'On The Farm', which is also very good and I am planning on buying the whole set of books.

`Does Geography grind you down?
Fed up with miserable maps, rotten rock piles and irksome estimates?
Wave goodbye to boring geography lessons as you cut a path through `Bloomin' Rainforests'........
Choke! ...at the smell of rotting flesh.....coming from a flower.
Scream! ...as you peer down from the highest trees in the world.
Dive for cover!.... when vicious vampire bats come after your blood.
And if that is not bloomin' scary enough for you....find out how explorers disappeared for ever inside steaming jungles, where to find spiders as big as a dinner plate and which rainforest fungi glow in the dark.
It's earth shatteringly exciting!
Geography has never been so horrible!'

Wonderful classroom addition, 31 Jul 1997
A Walk in the Rain Forest is a wonderful introduction to the tropical rain forest- its plants, animals, and people. The book tells the story of XYZ- a small ant- and his journey through the rainforest. The beautiful pictures and simple text appeals to children of all ages. Additional factual information appeals to older children. This is a great book to use in the classroom to help introduce children to the wonders of the rain forest.

Excellent educational material, 17 Nov 2004
My daughter is six years old and she loves this book! The photography is terrific, full of vibrant energy and sumptuous colour. The topic is one of everybody's favourites - volcanoes. But don't be fooled by the title; this work covers volcanoes, tectonic plates and earthquakes. Gina Nuttall's excellent descriptive style is pitched at just the right level for kids without being patronising. It's challenging stuff, but it has great educational value and is able to impart more information than you might think given the overall length of the work. I highly recommend it.
