Fab diary for any age, 31 Oct 2008
I love the Eric Carle diaries, they are bright, fun and very suitable for 'grown-ups'. The pictures are fun and there is lots of room to write every appointment for each day.
I had the 2008 diary and I think this years is even better.

Beautiful advent calendar, 22 Nov 2008
I bought this even though it was quite expensive and I have not regretted it. It's actually 3 pages (they should have depicted it properly on the amazon page) and it folds out. I bought it because I loved the painting and I had a peek into a door and that's lovely too. Can't wait for December to start.

Bargain fun!, 06 Apr 2008
Having a great time with my son going through this book. Excellent, easy to follow format with a really fun approach this book has succeeded in dragging my son (and me ;-]) away from the xbox. Totally recommended.
A clever idea and lots of fun, 29 Jan 2008
I've had a lot of fun building these with my children too. Yes too complicated for little ones all by themselves but a really neat idea and the extra bricks you need for some of the more complicated models are pretty basic ones so most families who already play with lego will probably already have them. The instructions cover a surprisingly large number of different models with not very many pieces. Highly recommended!
A really exciting book for lego freaks, 08 May 2004
A great book with all sorts of fantastic ideas. My son loves the candy machine best, but there are all sorts of other interesting ideas as well. I would recommend it for an older child, as the projects are quite challenging.
Lego addict, 14 Jul 2003
Brought for my 5 year old lego addict this proved to be good value for money and a useful addition to his kit. Not all models are possible without additional lego which we didn't have however held his interest as much as any other kit, but provided alternatives (machines rather than robots). Instructions are easy to understand and book is well illustrated.
Excellent!, 10 Aug 2002
This is an excellent book of ideas very clearly presented with a nice sense of humour. All of the projects work and are easily built with the included lego technic bits (though some of the larger projects require additional basic blocks). The bits alone would cost more than a tenner to buy by themselves..

The Spiderwick Chronicles, 09 Sep 2008
This a set of 5 books. They are fun, adventurous and really exciting.I have enjoyed reading them with my Mummy and Daddy. The stories are about 3 children called Simon, Jared and Mallory and their adventures with creatures like goblins and boggarts. They go on a quest to find their great uncle.
Faulty Batch of product. Beware., 12 Aug 2008
Just a quick note that I've had 3 of these and returned every one.
The other reviewer noted:
"as a nice touch the paper edges are uneven and different sizes to give them an old spooky book feel".
The hardcover books are defective and have unfortunately only been trimmed on 2 rather than 3 edges of each page.
If you don't get a faulty batch I'm sure it would be a good product.
Magical Set for ages 7 and up, 07 Jul 2008
I was really pleased with this set. The trunk is sturdy cardboard and has a hidden magnetic snap shut closure all along the front edge - slightly magical in the way it clunks shut. It is decorated on every side on the outside and on the inner lid.
The 5 story books are hardback about 100 pages long and as a nice touch the paper edges are uneven and different sizes to give them an old spooky book feel. It does make it a little difficult to turn the pages which may put off younger readers. The postcards are sealed together in sellophane and the 215+ page notebook is paperback.
It is slightly smaller than I imagined but a lovely looking set and would make an ideal gift (athough get Amazon to deliver to a gift address as it's very heavy).
The stories themselves are wonderfully magical and should appeal to any Harry Potter fan. They are wonderfully illustrated with black and white drawings but also a colour plate on each first page giving them an old book feel. The books are short but make wonderful stories to read aloud for children and easier books to finish for junior readers age 7+.
The books in the set are American versions - the prices are in dollars and the books themselves are full of American language like 'Mom' etc which is to be expected as the book is about 3 American children who move into a spooky house and get into dangerous adventures with all manner of mystical and magical creatures.
Highly Recommended.

A book giving clear explanations supported by good graphics, 12 Jan 2002
A well produced flip over card book, complete with its own loop of colourful knot free string. The explanations are easy to understand, no steps have been assumed. The illustrations are clear and thoughtfully drawn, supporting the text admirably. A helpful aspect in the design is that the piece of string that is to be moved next, is coloured red on the illustration. Being an American book , it has lost none of its meaning in a translation. The book has two sections. One for individual use where there are 4 figures to make and a second section for two people showing how to create the 5 repeating shapes. It is a good introductory book. Competent Cat's Cradle enthusiasts may need something more.

Worth the money, 22 Jan 2008
I bought this along with the teachers handbook and the workbooks and I'm pleased I did. Everytime we learn a new letter we stick it up on the kitchen wall and use it as a reminder throughout the day / week.
A must, 27 Nov 2002
If you use the Jolly Phonics scheme (and if not, why not? You really should, you know!) then this frieze is an absolute must. Displaying all the letters and digraphs taught in an eye catching but clear manner that can be displayed any way you wish - as a long line, blocked together as a poster... My class love the pictures, and more importantly, actually USE it to help them in their work.
Vibrant visual aid for early letter sound learners, 14 Feb 2002
My son (4 yrs old, just started at school) was struggling to learn his phonic letter sounds. This wall frieze has helped enormously. We have put it up in his bedroom. The pictures are colourful reminders of how the letter sounds (rather than what a letter is called). Both upper and lower case letters are shown. An extremely useful tool to enhance early learning at home from the classroom.

Soap Box Opera drones on, 28 Nov 2007
I am assuming that the review below, copied from the `Comments' area of this item, was the original review that the other two reviews refer to - so well done to all who got it deleted from the system.
I couldn't agree more with these two reviews on this item - this is a blank baby book for parents to fill in, with photos and text, as their baby develops over those precious first 12 months.
What does puzzle me is the fact that it got a positive vote in the first place - unless the author is also guilty of voting for his own reviews which is quite possible given how his `helpful' votes whizz up - you only need to look back at the review pages to see how obtuse the subjects are and how suspicious the voting is, especially on items that have other reviews which have no votes at all?
<< Still One of the Best Children's Stories of all Time, 8 May 2007
The Tale of Peter Rabbit was written in 1900 and has stood the test of time very well. Generations of children have loved the story and treasured the books of Beatrix Potter. It is up there among the greats of children's literature with Wind in the Willows, The Water Babies, Peter Pan, Treasure Island and many others.
In these days of computer games and electronic toys of one kind or another, books sadly are sometimes not as high on the list as they were a few years ago, perhaps that is why literacy in schools is not all that it could be. Personally as a child books were always my first love and Christmas would not have been the same without a Rupert annual.
Stories that involve animals as the main characters in books always seem to fascinate young children and Peter Rabbit has always been up there with the best. Next time you have to buy a present for a child, or even want to treat one of your younger grandchildren for no particular reason. Instead of looking for the latest DVD why not buy them a book. Peter Rabbit is a good one to start with.>>
First Review is not relevant, 11 Nov 2007
This is a baby book, so how on earth has this review got on here?
It bears no resemblence whatsoever to the text in this book, I hope, and is harfly an encouragement to buy.
Reporting as inappropraite, as advised.

I love this product, BUT I had to send it back 3 times before I actually got a complete package with all the sounds. So the product gets 5 starts, the quality control for the packing gets 1 star.

This is a baby book, so how on earth has this review got on here?
It bears no resemblence whatsoever to the text in this book, I hope, and is harfly an encouragement to buy.
Reporting as inappropraite, as advised.
really cool for girls, 30 Nov 2005
This is so cool it's much more than just any old diary! It's great fun to fill in! I also have the klutz drawing book and the watercolour one but my favourite is My Life According to Me!
its a really cool book for any girl, 05 Sep 2001
This book is really cool and funky, its really fun to fill in and then look back at a few months later and then a few months after that. Its a shame that once you filled it in you cant do it again but its still tons of fun to fill in.You can do it with a friend, buy one each or fill it in by your self, any way is fun.I liked designing a shopping bag and creating new hairstyles for models. It contains loads of iteresting things to do,and the silver pen (that comes with it) looks really nice on the black paper. Also colouring crayons and pecils show up nicely and make the book even prettier. Its the kind of book that you can do a little bit of it each day, especially in the holidays. This book is one of the many products from the klutz range.Another simmilar book by klutz is 'a blank journal for teens and beyond'. Its a really good diary or just a note book to scribble down thoghts and ideas, both books make brilliant presents!

I have had these cards for a while now and use them in my childminding setting for playing snap and learning french words. All the children from the very young to the old love them. And it is great to hear recently that one of the 10 year olds I look after said it really helped her with french lessons at school.
They are well designed and durable and the pictures are really appealing to all ages.
