Excellent - just a five minute flick for inspiration, 04 Nov 2008
I come back to this book again and again. The people who criticise it are, as they admit, already doing these things with their toddlers. Though I doubt it... there are so many good activities. The fact is, most of us are not doing these things - other things and the older children get more attention.
The beauty of the book is that you can quickly look through and something will leap out at you. Or maybe you decide that you'll do an activity, but tailor it to your family in certain ways...
I have an older child and this book reminds me to let the toddler be a toddler - not an issue if this is your first, but a toddler's needs can get squeezed out, and this is the remedy.
Highly recommended.
Great reference book for things to do with toddlers, 07 Feb 2008
Although this book might hold lots of things 'you could have thought of yourself', you don't always have the time or energy to get that grey matter working again when you have one or more little ones. This is therefore a great book you can just pick up and find an idea.If you need anything to 'play the game' you will more than not already have it in your home. Ideas incorporate rainy play indoors as well as ideas outdoors and includes creative stuff as well as physical play. Also, it has some great recipes for doughs etc.
Some Really Great Ideas , 29 Nov 2007
I've really enjoyed this book. Granted, a lot of the ideas are really simple and you could probably have come up with them yourself, but actually I think that's what makes it so good, a lot of the projects can be made from things you already have in the house and are uncomplicated. I can dip in when I need a quick idea for something to do on a rainy day.
I have found though that because the author is American it does mention brands and supplies that I don't know, which can be frustrating. And, I would have liked some more pictures (some projects do have pictures, but not many and not very detailed) just to help me a long on some of the projects, but in general it's good value, and a lot of fun.
I would recommend it to mum's who are in need of some inspiration. In fact, I've enjoyed it so much I'm going to buy one for my friend.
A useful reference book, 10 Aug 2007
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I wasn't born with an innate ability to entertain toddlers (even tho I have a Fine Art Degree!)So I found this book very useful. Its true that all 365 activities aren't exactly mind blowing but there are some real gems & the others can be easily adapted to suit you & your child. My daughter is very active & easily bored & frustrated & I found this book to be a great springboard, using Trish Kuffner's ideas as inspiration to create our own special type of fun. I enjoyed the Americanism of the book as, for example, it lists & explains some holidays we don't have in the UK. For anyone lost in toddler tantrums & frustrations, if you only take one piece of advice from this book, let it be this... (try to)"relish the toddler years, because like the fingerprints on the wall, they will be gone before you know it."
Not suitable for kids nor useful for anyone with a bit of imagination themselves, 14 Feb 2007
Again, oh per-lease. I found this book to be a real disappointment and felt like I had purchased something based on the title and description and then found out it didn't "do what it said on the tin". Anyone with a bit of imagination could come up with these ideas if they are not doing this sort of things already. Better ideas can be found elsewhere.
A word of warning though, I got this book because my 18 month old son is one of those active and busy 18 month olds however quite a few of the activities required use of equipment not suitable for his use. Even if you do find this book useful it might be best to wait until they're able to use scissors etc.

fun..., 01 Dec 2003
i bought this book for my one year old - below the age limit on the book, i know. but it looked so full of many fun things that i just couldn't resist! she loves leafing through the pages and pulling things out of the book. she also really enjoys the ribbons and shoelace and grandma's car keys which are hanging from the purse. i love this book because as she gets older she'll be amused by more than the obvious - there are little details that are adorable, such as the baby pictures granny keeps in her purse and they are, of course, tasteful naked baby photos! all in all - a good purchase. a little pricey, but this book will amuse us for a good long time.

A very helpful book for small children, 06 Sep 2006
I bought this book for my four year old granddaughter. We live in Greece and her mother tongue is Greek. She understands very little English and was not really showing any great interest in learning the language.
However, she adores the book and as soon as I gave it to her, she got stuck into sticking the stickers on to the appropriate words. Although initially her main interest was in the stickers, she found the book very interesting and on the second day she was interested in learning the actual letters and words and announced to her dad that she was now going to try to learn English.
It is a lovely book for small children. It is bright and colourful, the pictures are relative to every day activities, and are well detailed, and the stickers are nice and big, simple and colourful, with easy to read labels.
The book is a great help for those whose mother tongue is not English. It makes learning interesting.
I thoroughly recommend this book and will be looking for more to follow up.

A simple and colourful book to keep the kids busy., 10 Nov 2001
This book contains many simple Christmas projects to keep children occupied in the run up to Christmas. The instructions are clear and simply written and the illustrations are excellent. There are sheets of stickers included with the book which could have been a bit more comprehensive but these are useful none-the-less.

This book contains many simple Christmas projects to keep children occupied in the run up to Christmas. The instructions are clear and simply written and the illustrations are excellent. There are sheets of stickers included with the book which could have been a bit more comprehensive but these are useful none-the-less. Good for the younger beginners, great stickers, 11 Dec 2002
I bought this sticker book to use as teaching material in private tuition (I'm a native French speaker) and find it a useful starting point. This book contains 14 colourful scenes from which are extracted about 6 to 8 words with corresponding stickers to be located on insert pages. Each sticker shows a picture of the object or person labelled in French with the English equivallent in smaller type. At the end of the book there is also a compilation of 30 words to be matched with their pictures and a full glossary with (approximate) pronunciation guide. The scenes are busy enough to provide lots of scope for talking or reviewing and introducing more vocabulary. The stickers can be stuck in the book in the spaces provided, but they are suitable for making your own little flascards or lotto game, etc... The vocabulary is in the register of everyday words, such as clothes, parts of the body, bath time, bed time, meals, toys, colours, etc. so it is easy to make the children use them in real situations. The style of illustration and the large type are aimed at young children, which should make it suitable for initiating kids from pre-reading age. Older than about 10, other books from the same publisher, Usborne Book of Everyday Words in French or First 1000 Words in French would perhaps be a more appealing choice. In my copy (2002 edition) the labels on page 7 about breakfast (le bain, le ventre, le canard) should be swoped with those on page 26 about the bathroom (instead of la pomme, l'orange, la banane). This sloppiness costs it a star in my rating.

Wonderful Christmas book for kids, 06 Dec 2001
All the stories are well chosen and relevant to children. Younger children will easily relate to the beautiful illustrations and the clear language used will make reading this book to your children a pleasure. The craft section has both simple yet useful ideas and each one is clearly demonstrated. The Christmas carols, complete with all the verses, traditional words and the sheet music are a treat for all those budding musicians and Mums who like to sing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the CD is a complete copy of all the stories in the book, including the songs, which are sung by children. This really is a very special book that can make the lead-up to Christmas a pleasure for the whole family.

(try to)"relish the toddler years, because like the fingerprints on the wall, they will be gone before you know it." Not suitable for kids nor useful for anyone with a bit of imagination themselves, 14 Feb 2007
