MY LITTLE BOY IS HOOKED ON THIS, 08 Oct 2008
Although the paper quality is not the best (comparable to those cheap colouring in books you can get), the outer covers are strong and bright but it's the content that makes it great value for money.
My six year old has spent ages with this book drawing and perfecting his pokemon favourites. Step by step instructions along with simple diagrams, even the most difficult figures are a cinch once you know how. 17 characters to draw with hints and tips for each one.
This is cheaper than most kids magazines and worth every penny in terms of how much use it's had.
Easy and fun drawing!, 02 Mar 2008
I got this book for my son as a treat when we joined Amazon and now he LOVES it! He's going to teach me and he's great at drawing the always-cute...TOGEPI! Great book, step-by-step instructions, drawn by the masters!
A great gift!, 22 Nov 2006
This book makes a great gift for a child who loves to draw! If you have a child or knows a child whose passion is to draw, then you found the book for them. In this book, it shows them how to draw Pokemon. I think it's wonderful for children to find a fun activity that shows their great talent.

Product Description
Percy, the park keeper, always feeds the animals in the park where he lives. But on a very cold winter night his animal friends require more of him than just food. One by one they appear, shivering on his doorstep, asking for shelter. Soon there is no room in the bed for Percy. This, the first Percy story, introduces us to an endearing and endurable character whose relationship to his animal friends is like that of a tolerant parent to mischievous children. The expressive colour illustrations perfectly complement the humorous and easy-to-read text to create the perfect book to share with young children. (Ages 2 to 6)

Love it!, 01 May 2008
It is winter and it is snowing. All through the evening, Percy gets knocks from various different animals and they all want to share the bed. The problem is the bed is too small for them all. How will all of the animals and Percy get through the night? Find out in this book... I really, really, really like Percy the Park Keeper adventures (and have got four of the books) and would definitely and positively rate this book 8/ 10. I would absolutely strongly recommend it to everyone who likes Percy the Parker as well! Nick Butterworth has done a great job with all of the books - so I look forward to read and review other of his books!
One Snowy Night is a brilliant book!, 14 Mar 2008
I like this book because it is cold and all of the animals come to Percy's house.
A truly magical story, 30 Aug 2007
What can I say about this truly wonderful and magical book that has not already been said. It is wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated and just the right length for a snuggly bedtime story. My son is now 4 years old and still loves to hear the stories about Percy the Park Keeper. We even purchased the DVD (which is truly wonderful too).
I personally love to read this story and have even been known to suggest it to my son for bedtime reading. If you don't already own this book, then don't hesitate to buy it today, you will not regret it.
One Snowy Night (Nick Butterworth), 27 May 2007
It's so fantatic to be a 39 year old toddler! This and the others in the series are simply beautifully written with unforgettable illustrations.Even if you don't have children, buy this; you will never regret it.
Rivetting to read as well as listen to., 02 Feb 2007
Lovely book to read and, for my 3 year old son, listen to. Lots of actions (knocking on doors, snuggling under blankets, budging up etc), bit of a frightener (not too much) with the noise under the shed and a spot of 'who is where?'. Even explains how the fox is allowed in with the other animals.
I'll be looking to get more in the series but we're still into this one.

Fun for toddler, 24 Jun 2008
I bought these for my two year old who is a recent In The Night Garden fan. They are fantastic. Admittedly the box arrived a bit worse for wear (I am in Australia) but it still holds the books when it needs to. My daughter carries the books everywhere. Stops, sits down to read them, waves them around in one hand, lines them up to count to 6 or turns them over to complete the puzzle on the back. For a few dollars she has had hours of fun already. Highly recommend!
Nice while they lasted, 26 Mar 2008
These books were very popular with my one year old who loves all things night garden. So much so that after a few months of reading they have literally fallen apart. Also each book is very short and I think you get more value from some of the other pocket library collections. Nice stories for littles ones but not sure about their value to language development; 'Runny grobbles.....?'
Just needs a mini Derek Jacobi to read them ;), 17 Feb 2008
Very sweet little set of books, with a book for each of the main characters. My 18 month old son likes these and they are little board books which he can easily manage. The back of the books also form a picture when they're laid out together. Nice to take about and good for any fans of the show.
Superb little set of books!, 09 Jan 2008
We gave this delightful set to my little girl for Christmas (she is almost three). Of all of the presents that she got, this was her favourite. Makes me wonder why we spent so much money on all of her other gifts when she was happiest with a set of books that cost less than £3.
Yes they are now getting a little battered from her constant handling of them but to be honest, I would be more than happy to replace them with another set for just £2.79 when they do finally fall apart.
I don't see why other reviewers have moaned about the small size of the books as they are for small children after all and they don't exactly cost much do they.
All in all, a superb set of 6 books which any little fan of In The Night Garden will love. You can trust me on that, having seen the joy it has given my daughter over Christmas.
Iggle Piggle himself would like these, 06 Jan 2008
These books are great-the size alone appeals to my 2 year old. I think her favourite bit is the box-she can take out the books and put them back to her hearts content!
Can anyone explain why each book has the characters' name as a title except the Pontipines-which is called Night Garden Friends (or something). It bothers me!

Product Description
The Final Chapter Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him. In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectactular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again. Hardcover Paperback | Why We Love Harry Favourite Moments from the SeriesThere are plenty of reasons to love Rowling's wildly popular series--no doubt you have several dozen of your own. Our list features favourite moments, characters, and artefacts from the first six books. Keep in mind that this list is by no means exhaustive (what we love about Harry could fill ten books!) and does not include any of the spectacular revelatory moments that would spoil the books for those (few) who have not read them. Enjoy. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone | * Harry's first trip to the zoo with the Dursleys, when a boa constrictor winks at him. * When the Dursleys' house is suddenly besieged by letters for Harry from Hogwarts. Readers learn how much the Dursleys have been keeping from Harry. Rowling does a wonderful job in displaying the lengths to which Uncle Vernon will go to deny that magic exists. * Harry's first visit to Diagon Alley with Hagrid. Full of curiosities and rich with magic and marvel, Harry's first trip includes a trip to Gringotts and Ollivanders, where Harry gets his wand (holly and phoenix feather) and discovers yet another connection to He-Who-Must-No-Be-Named. This moment is the reader's first full introduction to Rowling's world of witchcraft and wizards. * Harry's experience with the Sorting Hat. | Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets | * The de-gnoming of the Weasleys' garden. Harry discovers that even wizards have chores--gnomes must be grabbed (ignoring angry protests "Gerroff me! Gerroff me!"), swung about (to make them too dizzy to come back), and tossed out of the garden--this delightful scene highlights Rowling's clever and witty genius. * Harry's first experience with a Howler, sent to Ron by his mother. * The Duelling Club battle between Harry and Malfoy. Gilderoy Lockhart starts the Duelling Club to help students practice spells on each other, but he is not prepared for the intensity of the animosity between Harry and Draco. Since they are still young, their minibattle is innocent enough, including tickling and dancing charms. | Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban | * Ron's attempt to use a telephone to call Harry at the Dursleys'. * Harry's first encounter with a Dementor on the train (and just about any other encounter with Dementors). Harry's brush with the Dementors is terrifying and prepares Potter fans for a darker, scarier book. * Harry, Ron, and Hermione's behaviour in Professor Trelawney's Divination class. Some of the best moments in Rowling's books occur when she reminds us that the wizards-in-training at Hogwarts are, after all, just children. Clearly, even at a school of witchcraft and wizardry, classes can be boring and seem pointless to children. * The Boggart lesson in Professor Lupin's classroom. * Harry, Ron, and Hermione's knock-down confrontation with Snape. | Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire | * Hermione's disgust at the reception for the veela (Bulgarian National Team Mascots) at the Quidditch World Cup. Rowling's fourth book addresses issues about growing up--the dynamic between the boys and girls at Hogwarts starts to change. Nowhere is this more plain than the hilarious scene in which magical cheerleaders nearly convince Harry and Ron to jump from the stands to impress them. * Viktor Krum's crush on Hermione--and Ron's objection to it. * Malfoy's "Potter Stinks" badge. * Hermione's creation of S.P.E.W., the intolerant bigotry of the Death Eaters, and the danger of the Triwizard Tournament. Add in the changing dynamics between girls and boys at Hogwarts, and suddenly Rowling's fourth book has a weight and seriousness not as present in early books in the series. Candy and tickle spells are left behind as the students tackle darker, more serious issues and take on larger responsibilities, including the knowledge of illegal curses. | Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix | * Harry's outburst to his friends at No. 12 Grimmauld Place. A combination of frustration over being kept in the dark and fear that he will be expelled fuels much of Harry's anger, and it all comes out at once, directly aimed at Ron and Hermione. Rowling perfectly portrays Harry's frustration at being too old to shirk responsibility, but too young to be accepted as part of the fight that he knows is coming. * Harry's detention with Professor Umbridge. Rowling shows her darker side, leading readers to believe that Hogwarts is no longer a safe haven for young wizards. Dolores represents a bureaucratic tyrant capable of real evil, and Harry is forced to endure their private battle of wills alone. * Harry and Cho's painfully awkward interactions. Rowling clearly remembers what it was like to be a teenager. * Harry's Occlumency lessons with Snape. * Dumbledore's confession to Harry. | Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince | * This book is much darker than the rest. Lord Voldemort has been creating chaos in the Wizard and Muggle communities alike, the war is in full swing and the Wizarding community now lives in fear. * It is much more emotional. The story turns at the whim of a temperamental teenager from war and life-changing tragedy, to euphoria and glistening happiness. | Magic, Mystery, and Mayhem: A Conversation with J.K. Rowling
"I am an extraordinarily lucky person, doing what I love best in the world. I'm sure that I will always be a writer. It was wonderful enough just to be published.
Excellent finish, 16 Nov 2008
Everyone who has read the Harry Potter series knows how fun, interesting and addictive it is to read, so the seventh book is essential for those who have dabbled in the others. Possibly the most engaging book of them all, this last edition takes a different style into what would be Harry's final year at Hogwarts. The sixth book was said to be dark but it is in the seventh that great change happens. The plot deepends enormously as do the characters, who have grown up so much since their first days. J.K. Rowling is a gift to children and adults alike. Conclusion: essential reading if you have read the others, although really that goes without saying!
The series end left me speechless and depressed, 08 Nov 2008
I'd like to say that I was not one of the people who grew up with Harry Potter, it was around me but I never felt interested enough to have a read and even disliked the hype so much that I could have never imagined reading and absolutely loving it.
Eventually, at 22, I gave the first book a chance and read it in a day and I quite enjoyed it, needless to say the more books I read of the series, the more obsessed and involved did I feel and at the last book, The Deathly Hallows I could not imagine that this journey has come to an end.
I felt at points frustrated at the slow pace and not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I think JK Rowling made it quite clear that a big part of this book is about frustration, patience and somewhat hopelessness.
When I then finished this book I was in tears, well I was in tears throughout the book but the end just hit me hard and I realised that there won't be any more books and what I've read can never be read again the same way. I felt depressed, not because it was a bad book, quite the opposite, it was such a good book and such a good series that I felt like I lost friends. As sad as this sounds, I feel that Rowling created a world so detailed, so close to my heart that the end of it felt like a funeral. I think she felt quite the same and of course even worse when she was writing the last chapters of this book and I cannot even imagine the pain she felt for saying goodbye to Harry and his friends.
I don't think any book has touched me the way these did, not because it is the smartest or funniest book I've read but because it feels so real that it is hard to imagine it isn't. For this, I thank JK Rowling, she enriched my life with this epic story and I hope, for generations to come, they feel the same way about it.
Amazing, 16 Oct 2008
The Deathly Hallows is the best book I have ever read, I honestly couldn't put it down. All the questions that were in the books are answered and the story gripped me from beginning to end. Although the ending is weak, this is JK Rowling's masterpiece. A must-have.
Great book, 16 Oct 2008
This is a great end to the harry potter saga, but thats not the reason for this review, i just wanted to ask if anyone knows the difference between the childrens edition and the adult edition? ill thank you in advance if you answer my question
I couldn't put it down, 12 Oct 2008
This thing, the deathly hallows, the beginning wasn't the best beginning, but... I could not stop reading it. I don't understand why people think the ending is disappointing. The Nineteen years later could be expanded into a book, maybe, but, if J.K doesn't then that's all we really need to know to end the Harry potter phenomenon. Hopefully she will deliver another H.P book, because I know, I know, it won't end here.

This book makes a great gift for a child who loves to draw! If you have a child or knows a child whose passion is to draw, then you found the book for them. In this book, it shows them how to draw Pokemon. I think it's wonderful for children to find a fun activity that shows their great talent.

How will all of the animals and Percy get through the night? Find out in this book...

Admittedly the box arrived a bit worse for wear (I am in Australia) but it still holds the books when it needs to. My daughter carries the books everywhere. Worth the expense of going for the hardcover/board version, 07 Oct 2008
This much-loved classic is my 10-month old boy's favourite. We deliberately went for the hardback version with board pages, which is capable of withstanding the inevitable bashing it receives better than the paperback version. (The flaps are thin card - hardly indestructible but sturdy enough to require some considerable effort to tear.)
Like the review above, I was mildly concerned about the repetition of the word "no" throughout the book, but that's just how the book is and the most important thing is that my son loves interacting with it, always attacking each flap with gusto to see what's underneath it, and that's the most important thing really.
flimsy flaps, 27 Sep 2008
I bought this several months ago for my little boy, who is now 16 months old. Although he loves his books, bringing me a book to read to him several times during the day, this has never been one of his favourites. Despite that, this is the only "lift-the-flap" book that he has managed to tear off one of the flaps from (and he has several of these books). I guess that babies have different tastes in books (just like adults) but I think it could have been made a lot sturdier. For example, we have had no problems with "Dear Zoo" which has been read a lot more times.
well loved.. but.., 28 Aug 2008
My 15 month old boy loves this book and never tires of opening the flaps.. The only slight issue I have is that it contains a lot of 'no's' in it. That is how the book runs of course as he's looking for spot in the cupboard, under the bed etc saying 'is he under the bed?' and some animal will be under the flap saying 'no'. Of course that's the way of the book, but i'm just conscious of it being in the negative state throughout for some reason, and affirming 'no' every time my boy lifts a flap.
Where's SPOT lift-the-flap book, 24 Jan 2008
from Eric Hill.
This review is for the PUFFIN paperback, lift-the-flap version/1983.
22 thick, shiny pages in the popular 2-page spread format.
Large, bold, easy-to-follow text on one page and a picture and a lift-the flap opportunity on the other.
9 sturdy flaps ensure successful lifting/replacing, time and time again.
Colourfully illustrated throughout.
In this story, naughty Spot is being elusive, at dinner time, and his Mum (Sally) has to go and seek him out!
The delightful story is enhanced by the various creatures hidden behind the flaps who aid the lovable Spot by responding `No!' to the question asked....until the last page, when all is revealed!
From the back cover:-
`SPOT is one of the essential experiences of childhood' - Parent Magazine.'
One of the best series of books for early readers!
A Wonderful Find!, 02 Nov 2007
I bought this for my 10 month old daughter, and now at nearly two years of age she still loves having it read to her. A wonderful lift the flap book which lets the little ones really get involved in the story, which features a bear, snake, hippo, lion, monkey, crocodile, penguins and a tortoise. The popularity of this board book has led to the purchase of other 'Spot' books.

Product Description
Say you've spent the first 10 years of your life sleeping under the stairs of a family who loathes you. Then, in an absurd, magical twist of fate you find yourself surrounded by wizards, a caged snowy owl, a phoenix-feather wand and jellybeans that come in every flavour, including strawberry, curry, grass and sardine. Not only that, but you discover that you are a wizard yourself! This is exactly what happens to young Harry Potter in J K Rowling's enchanting, funny debut novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. In the non-magical human world--the world of "Muggles"--Harry is a nobody, treated like dirt by the aunt and uncle who begrudgingly inherited him when his parents were killed by the evil Voldemort. But in the world of wizards, small, skinny Harry is renowned as a survivor of the wizard who tried to kill him. He is left only with a lightning-bolt scar on his forehead, curiously refined sensibilities and a host of mysterious powers to remind him that he's quite, yes, altogether different from his aunt, uncle, and spoilt, pig-like cousin Dudley. A mysterious letter, delivered by the friendly giant Hagrid, wrenches Harry from his dreary, Muggle-ridden existence: "We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". Of course, Uncle Vernon yells most unpleasantly, "I AM NOT PAYING FOR SOME CRACKPOT OLD FOOL TO TEACH HIM MAGIC TRICKS!" Soon enough, however, Harry finds himself at Hogwarts with his owl Hedwig ... and that's where the real adventure--humorous, haunting, and suspenseful--begins. This magical, gripping, brilliant book--a future classic to be sure--will leave children clamouring for a sequel.

Spectacular, 03 Nov 2008
this is only one of the harry potter books.if you liked this you should read the rest.th ewhaole collection is utterly fantastic.brought me into the stoty straight from the start!
And from here it all began ..., 02 Nov 2008
All credit to Joanne Rowling. This is the book that launched a global phenomenon and should be on the bookshelf of anyone with an interest in children's literature or classic stories.
As for the book, yes, it's very good - however, I don't think it's brilliant. Writing your first novel is a mammoth undertaking and in this book JK sets out the parameters for what was to be developed and built upon in the later novels.
This novel probably inspired thousands more to do the same and finally write the book that germinated in their mind for so long. I should know, as I'm one of those people. My first book is now for sale on Amazon etc, and it may not have happened if this book had simply been lost in the slush pile of every major publisher and agent.
Great Book, 17 Oct 2008
I understand that everyone had their own opinion but i do not understand how anyone cannot like the harry potter books! in relation to another review made! Hagrid can do magic in front of the Dursleys because they know about magic! I defo do not believe that these books are just for kids either!
Sets the scene well, 19 Sep 2008
...and is undoubtably well-described, but the actual storyline wasn't quite as exciting as everyone said it would be. Still, I will be reading the next one!
From a Primary Teacher's perspective, 16 Sep 2008
The first in the collection explores a typical plot of an orphan boy who is badly treated by his uncle and auntie, and is suddenly offered a place at Hogwarts, the school for young and aspiring wizards and witches. From the moment young Harry meets Hagrid, the friendly half-giant and groundkeeper of the school, the realm of the magical and mysterious unravels before him, gradually revealing the true past of his dead parents.
Clearly the most predictable choice of all books due to the worldwide interest the series has received, few pupils nowadays would not be able to describe an event, character or plot from Harry Potter. This in itself can be used to create further interest in reading and a whole manner of cross-curricular activities.
Film adaptations have been equally as successful as the books, so there are many avenues in which the teacher can lead them into reading. Ideally this read is for Years 5 & 6, but because of the sheer level of interest it could be argued that Year 2 onwards would be keen to hear readings and therefore give them a clear goal to head towards. And as there are so many facets to the Harry Potter phenomenon as well as a deep passion expressed by many children from across the world, it wouldn't be hard to harness the interest of this book and use it to propel a particular lesson. With links to English, Maths, Science, PE, RE, PSHE and school ethics (i.e. house points and community issues), the opportunity to use Rowling's work as a springboard is endless and is therefore inescapably a must-read for any teacher.

How Pokemon saved my love life, 29 Aug 2006
Pokemon saved my love life. its true. I wooed my sweetie (Vladimir) by drawing him pictures of cute pokemon. However soon after he left me so I decieded to improve my pokemon drawing skills by purchasing this fab book! With my newly-improved pokemon drawing-skills, I sent him a pic of pikachu-and we were an item together again!!! now we enjoy drawing pokemon together and sometimes indulge in a little "whos the best at drawing Ditto competition". lol. its great-I recommend to everyone
A Pokemon Drawer's Bible, 31 Oct 2003
A great way for children and adults alike to begin or improve their Pokemon drawing skills. My son certainly liked this item, as did I as it mademe remember when I was young and I had dreams of writing. Great as a present or a treat for the younger you.
Good Peppa Pig book , 12 Sep 2008
My 4yr old daughter and 2 yr old son love this book.
A quality book with realistic sounds and an enjoyable story inside.
This book is both entertaining and educational for young children.
A very good buy at a fab price!
Great Book for all Peppa Pig Fans, 10 Aug 2008
This is a great book for all Peppa Pig Fans. The noises are better than you would normally get in a sound book too.
A good buy for any Peppa fan!, 04 Jan 2008
My Son got this for christmas and loves it! He is only two but again loves looking at the pictures and pressing the buttons for the realistic sounds effects. I would say this is one of the better Peppa Pig products on the market and great value too.
Daughter loves it, 05 Dec 2007
My daughter (nearly 3) loves this book. You read the story and she follows along and pushes a button for the appropriate sound effect.
Stops, sits down to read them, waves them around in one hand, lines them up to coun | | |
