This is what AVP should look like, 17 Jul 2008
Although it is quite a simple tale it is well written, brilliantly drawn. Written years before AVP or the even more dire AVP 2 this collection show how the story should be. In Aliens Vs. Predator Omnibus: Volume 1 on the planet Ryushi the old manager of the planet is retiring and the new female boss is not liked, a mix of a small ranching community and big buisiness a robotic craft lands and unloads Alien eggs The load herd is soon infected by face huggers but the local farmer gets them loaded on a huge space ship rather than lose a bonus because of illness. The local vet goes to where the herd got ill there he finds is a class of Predators have seeded the planet with the Alien eggs in order to create the hunt. The Predators chase the Vet who crashes into the Predator ship causing and explosion but the young Predators don't know is that their leader has been knocked out in the crash and not killed. The young Predators go on a hunt but killing the local farmers rather than Aliens. The new boss goes to find the missing Vet only to find the Leader, She takes the leader to town when the youngsters attack, while all this is happening one of the eggs must have been an Alien Queen and now the Space ship if full of thousands of Aliens, the hunters become the hunted and they may have to turn to the very same humans they have been hunting if any of them is to have any hope of survival.
More in the Aliens style this tale is the reason why AVP ever happened if only AVP was as good. Maybe the should have just filmed this.

good book!, 09 May 2008
this is one of the best Aliens books! art work is good, story is good, but don't buy it brand new as it's not worth £16 as you will breeze through quickly got mine for £7 from the marketplace well worth the money!

Wilks and Billie?!?, 14 Feb 2008
This is a great budget value collection of several of the Alien's graphic novels kicking off with the legendary Mark Vernhieden Dark Horse collection from the late 80s. Full colour, great print, and all stories are extremely good. However, my only minor gripe is the editing that's occurred in the Genocide story. This was written prior to Alien 3 even being announced, and as such follows the post Aliens adventures of Hicks and Newt. However, they have edited the story to be about a girl called 'Billie', and a Colonial Marine called 'Wilks' (despite mentioning many of the other aliens colonial marines by name in flashbacks). I guess this is to incorporate itself into the proper continuity of the aliens series, but come on... Can we not read an 'alternate' story and just enjoy it for what it is? All in all, great, but if you're after pure authenticity, you might wanna track down some original versions of the Vernheiden story!

Not a patch on volume 1, 19 Feb 2008
I felt compelled to write a brief review of this title. I previously read volume 1 of the Aliens Omnibus, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I guess I wasn't expecting too much from it, but it got better the more I got into it. This second volume however was a big disappointment. For the most part the artwork is pretty mediocre, even compared to volume 1's adequate artwork. Secondly, the stories are paper thin and repetitive. I guess there are only so many storylines that you can run with in the Aliens universe. Sadly there are no great characters to latch on to. In the main it's just guys blasting randomly at wave after wave of badly rendered aliens. There are three stories in total. Two short ones and one long one. The first two are quite similar; go to the alien homeworld and see your plans to harvest royal jelly go badly wrong etc, and the third story is an 'epic' sapce marine affair which was the biggest disappoinment of the book. I hope the collection of stories in volume 3 turns out to be more in line with the collection of stories of volume 1.

Utterly hopeless trash-fiction, 30 Aug 2007
I always keep my expectations set very low when reading pulp, sometimes I am pleasantly surprised, but most of the time I am amazed that such crap ever makes it to press. Aliens: Original Sin is one of those occasions. It honestly one of the most boring and uneventful books I have ever sat down and read.
Even at a very short 250 pages, with not many words on a page, I found it very slow and without even a single memorable moment. No good action, forgettable characters and no sense of mystery or dread. The ONLY reason I am giving it 2/5 is that is stays true to the Alien lore and doesn't make up its own history like Dark Horse's Predator: Forever Midnight, which seems like Charles Dickens in comparison to this tripe.
Do not buy this book.
A little dissapointing, 18 Dec 2005
Great! All the answers to all the questions plus a continuation of the events after resurrection.........I don't think so!Its a case of too much Humans not enough Aliens, also I won't go to deep and ruin the story for others, but one egg and one facehugger does not equal several aliens! The whole afair just did not feel right I read the the book from cover to cover and did not feel that I wanted to read it again unlike the works of the Perrys who wrote some great Aliens fiction, which I have read loads of times,I hope Aliens DNA war that is published in April 06 puts the series back on track!:-)

The Battle Continues..., 18 Apr 2005
Thrill of the Hunt is the first in a new series of AVP Mini graphic novels. Although maybe not as great as the original AVP comics, Thrill of the Hunt is a very nicely put together little book. The artwork, although flawed, is stylish and captivating. The story is amazing, a web of intriuge and with real parallels to the Alien vs Predator movie. It won't take you long to read and probably won't stand out, but I personally think that it is a worthy addition to the series, and will be buying the sequel when it comes out in June. Get it. It's not all that bad, and any Alien vs Predator is a good Alien vs Predator.
Hm, 15 Apr 2005
What can I say but a massive dissapointment!Do not know why the title was called thrill of the hunt there is nothing thrilling about this graphic novel what so ever! After reading the original avp comic then reading this you have to laugh as the original is amazing along with Predator The Big Game and Alien Labrinth and stronghold and then you get smacked in the face by this crap.Honestly how appaling thrill of the hunt was?!It was a lame product after we have been blessed with great titles b4.Stay Clear of thrill of ther hunt guys!Trust me!

Beautiful book, a perfect companion to the film, 23 Mar 2005
This book tells you about Amalgamated Dynamics Inc and their work on AVP creating the practical effects. Furnished with large, full colour photos this book details every part of the process from concept artwork to the full shooting models on set. There are hundreds of these photos, even studies comparing the different aliens and predators from the films showing which parts they kept or changed. It's a very detailed read and will take you a while to get through. The only problem is it's just about the practical work. A bigger book with behind the scenes info on both the CG work and practical stuff on the making of the film would have been better. However, this is an entertaining and visually arresting book, and since there's no other version around, I recommend you buy it.
The best film book Titan have done, 27 Oct 2004
If you're into creature effects then this is a must have for the collection. These kind of books are often let down by sloppy film stills and the new trend to bulk out half the book with the script. This one however has none of that, the photos are top notch, taken in ADI's shop. You get to see the sculpting, mould making, moulding and finished props. If Aliens and Preds are your thing and you want to see what goes on behind the scenes, then put this at the top of your Chrstmas list.

Maybe the should have just filmed this.
good book!, 09 May 2008
this is one of the best Aliens books! art work is good, story is good, but don't buy it brand new as it's not worth £16 as you will breeze through quickly got mine for £7 from the marketplace well worth the money!
if your thinking about getting the other Aliens omnibus don't! cos they are pants! this is by far the best!
All in all, great, but if you're after pure authenticity, you might wanna track down some original versions of the Vernheiden story!
good comic-book esque Novel, 17 Jun 2008
good characters
good descriptive language
lots of imagination
some of the thought narration and dialouge is bad ( But hey, goes with the territory)
If Aliens and Preds are your thing and you want to see what goes on behind the scenes, then put this at the top of your Chrstmas list.
belly-aching laughter, 29 Jun 2003
one word- funny! i simply couldnt stop laughing at the stories. like the first series, the are several stories which stand on their own, and in this case, one for each of the manin characters. a worthy addition to my manga collection! Brilliant!!! it leaves me simply hungry for more, and i cant wait for the rest of the series- like most of the tenchi muyo franchise, its bound to be fantastic!
TENCHI'S BACK!, 10 May 2003
Tenchi returns and we hope is here to stay! The first book introduces all the main characters for first time fans...and has a story dedicated to each character...excepct tenchi! However, anyone looking for a big storyline won't probably find it until book two...as this book is mainly for humour...each story though is charming and well-written! and thankfully, no radical changes to the art like the 'tenchi in tokoyo' series! same artist, same great stuff! buy it!
