Intriguing Love Triange and Comedy, 05 Jan 1999
A very nice story that can be created by Rumiko Takahashi only. In this tenth book, young Godai faced a lot of problems: loosing his future job, expressing his feelings for Kyoko, and dealing with his agressive love rival. On the other hand, Mitaka, the rival, was lead into another trouble by his match-maker uncle. Incidents after incidents happened, and finally a misunderstanding occured, which forced Godai to pursue his dream girl at her "run-away" vacation. Would he ever be able to find her? Or moreover, could he finally be honest with himself and her? The answer can be found in this facinating novel. Suggestion: Read the series in order if you want to fully understand how the storyline goes.

First off let me say i'm a big fan of Rumiko Takahashi, so this review may be a bit one sided, please forgive me. Arigato! This is by far my favorate manga series, the story realy seems to be going somewhere unlike some of Takahashis other books, i'll name no names (Lum). This is what is so great about it, you can tell where the series is going to end up, but, you don't care the destination isn't whats important its it's the getting there that is the fun part. In this book Godai (our hapless hero) finaly makes some real progess with Kyoko in the form of an accidental kiss. This book also contains one of the funiest scenes i have read thus far in the series when Akemi throws herself at Godai in a drunken stooper, she then proceeds to "make things right" by passing it onto Kyoko. This results in Goadi becoming obsessed with kissing and even throws himself at Kozue! This series keeps getting better and better and while a part of me hopes it never ends the rest of me will be glad to see the enevitable conclusion. There is only one verdict i can give this well drawn, well written manga, 5 stars. Buy them, BUY THEM ALL!

Funny and addicting, a must read for Takahashi fans., 10 Aug 1998
This is the first graphic novel of Maison Ikkoku I've read in a while and it reminded me of why I love this series. Takahashi has a very special way of looking at life's different situations and poking fun at them while at the same time being realistic. These graphic novels are more enjoyable than many of the "word only" novel I've read. I'm hooked and I must complete my collection of this series so far. A hard task for any poor, melancholic college student (ring any bells?).

Maison Ikkoku isn't like any other Manga I get to see. There are no Mechas, no magic and no martial arts; there aren't even any villains (well maybe a couple in this volume). If you liked "Brushstrokes", then try this. Start at Volume 1, when you get to this one, keep going. I laughed, I cried, I felt better.
