Superb Autobiography of a Cinematic Spanking Submissive, 14 Nov 2008
This is the autobiographical memoir of a young American woman, an actor in many memorable, high quality spanking movies. In any autobiography, the author will not, indeed can not give the whole truth, such as it is, and devotees of a practice that attracts both prurient interest and public disapproval may well be the least reliable in this. Particularly when the author admits to some earlier fabrication, as does Flynn in this book. However, the words ring (painfully?) true, and paint a credible picture of the events and emotions that befall a seasoned practitioner of the disciplinary art. Flynn provides much material of interest to the amateur shrink in search of motivations for what many consider an `irregular' practice, but what comes through clearly is that she enjoys spanking for itself, and not as a `starter' for `something else'. The memoir also provides a valuable insight into the way the film industry works in this speciality, particularly in the case of the Czech company Lupus. Differences between Lupus and `others' are enlightening, too. This isn't really an erotic book, but it will be found interesting by those wanting to probe deeper into the practicalities of this particular branch of erotica as presented on film, and also, to a limited extent, on `the scene'.
Raw, honest, funny ... and sexy as hell :), 06 Aug 2008
"Dances with Werewolves" starts out as a familiar, gossipy introduction to the spanking industry, full of recognisable figures and mischievous commentary. The narrative soon deepens, however, into an investigation of how Niki came to be aware of her kink and how it affected her growing up. Like many kinky people, Niki's desires manifested young, and like many of us she went through a phase of fearing that they were harmful and unhealthy, and despairing of ever having a "normal" sexuality. Her discussion of fantasy, consent, fear and discipline is sensitive and thought-provoking. Although she and I seem to be into similar things on the surface, the underlying motivations between mine and Niki's kinks are very different, and it was fascinating to read another perspective. At the same time as celebrating the broad range of human sexuality, Niki's story has enough common ground with my own for me to identify strongly her as she gradually explored her desires and her deepest self.
At this point the book deviates from my - and most people's - experience, as Niki decides to apply for a part in a Lupus film, having never done professional spanking work before in her life. This brave leap takes her further up and further in to a compelling world of political, psychological, painful films that allow her to come face to face with the extremes of human experience. Her conscientiousness and self-awareness during her voyage of discovery are to be admired as much as her courage. Niki's a fantastic storyteller with a brilliantly dark sense of humour. Her honest appraisal of her desires and experiences make for compelling reading.
The book is a celebration of kink, a wry look at an industry that is both sublime and ridiculous, and a powerful story about fear, desire, and knowing oneself. If there are any films mentioned in the book that you haven't seen, you will come away wanting to watch them. And quite right too. Niki's influence on the world of spanking films has been positive and lasting. Her imagination, spirit and bravery has left a legacy of films that are, like this book, raw, scary, honest, challenging, intelligent and funn
A strange girl, but a delightful book., 22 Jun 2008
When I purchased the book I really had no expectations of what I was getting. I'll be really honest with you to start with, I bought the book to primarily support someone in the scene, though I was intrigued by the subject matter herself. If someone (Niki) had taken the time and effort to endure such a project, then I felt it a responsibility to support her efforts. As Ian Head from the London Tanners had said at the recent Florida Moonshine party "Please support the people who support you". What I got instead though was a book that I simply could not put down.
At the Florida Moonshine party Niki had signed my book "For Richard, Mr. Windsor - Sir. Welcome to my darkness. Love, Niki"
My plane ride had been delayed by a few hours for the journey home, I was bored senseless. My laptop was with me and I had a movie to watch for the journey back to New York. While waiting in the terminal I decided to pick up Niki's book and I figured I would read a couple of chapters before the plane was ready to board. That was a mistake to think that, let me tell you!! The first brief chapter covers some of the things that happen behind the scenes at a spanking shoot. Having been on a few of them myself I was able to nod and smile at this inside information. When we get to chapter two we were really at chapter one, as the title of this chapter is called "Strange Little Girl". This is where Niki begins with the biographical look at her life so far.
The self professed `Morbid Fantasies' of a child/teenager. While everyone else played house, Niki tells us of a mind consumed with thoughts of a vast array of punishments. Every spanko has done it, and now you can sit and read about it. You will probably be like myself who has always had a fascination with spanking, you will sit there nodding your head as Niki tells us about the conflicts one suffers mentally growing up with these desires. Of course, Niki's fantasies stretch FAR beyond just a simple spanking, lol. They are all about power and mind control and quite frankly, some of her desires are pretty shocking.
We follow Niki's life of being hidden in the darkness right up to the awakening of Niki Flynn, the first actual mortifying spanking administered by her Sister's boyfriend, followed by her Sister actually spanking Niki herself!! By now I am on the plane and the movie can go stuff itself, this is far more engrossing. While it may be at a different level and with different circumstances, I get a feeling that I am reading my own story here. At the very least, every uncomfortable situation I ever went through growing up as a spanko is being written about compassionately, it provides almost like a comforting blanket of reassurance that you are not alone. For a guy who never reads a book I made pretty quick work of the first three chapters. But now we have arrived at chapter 4, my face grimaces a little bit, we have now shot forward to Niki's first foray into becoming an actress, and it is with the Czech company, Lupus. This simple spanko thinks he may have bitten off more than he could chew as we meet "The Werewolves From The East", what I didn't know at the time though, was that the next 100 pages would be my favorite part of the book.
This is where the real journey begins, and while the book will occasionally deviate towards other projects Niki has done, you are drawn to her work, passion, desire and commitment to putting her soul into her characters. Not only by playing them, but by becoming them. If ever a person has suffered for her art, then Niki Flynn is that person. The four films that Niki has made with Lupus are the main binds that hold this book together. The other projects, the readers letters, the fan mail, the behind the scenes look at spanking shoots are all great to read, and once you have developed a mindset as to who Niki is, then you appreciate so much more what is being written about. In my honest opinion though, the work Niki has done with Lupus and which overall, interspersed, covers about half the book, is what really defines who Niki is and what she is really about. Her passion and commitment is made even more remarkable when you consider that every time Niki goes to Prague to shoot a film, she probably doesn't even cover the cost of her trip with what she receives in payment. It is a real labour of love to submit to not only the torture she suffers, but when you consider that she is probably out of pocket to do so makes it just that much more amazing. If my written review of Niki's book isn't enough for you, then that statement alone should make you want to buy a copy.
"Support the people who support you"
Niki is about more than just spanking, it is about character development. When on a film set Niki has a boyfriend with her who helps her get into character, and sometimes this makes for the most powerful reading. One time she is a hostage about to be released to her own people, this after suffering horrendous amounts of torture and brainwashing, even losing her only friend because of Niki's characters perceived betrayal. On an abandoned railway track her boyfriend stands beside her and hisses at her, telling her that she was to blame for losing her friend and that she will never be forgiven. That her family will be shamed by her as she stands there in the bitter cold, rain soaking her disheveled form in her dirty, torn clothes, her eyes like cold stones. When she is released to her German rescuers, one Fatherly figure motions to his companion to give her his coat, this simple act of kindness is too much for Niki to bear as she has now become her character, she breaks down crying. It isn't the first time and it won't be the last. Just when she thinks there are no more tears left her character narrates what she has already filmed. Niki became Nikolaja, and the strange thing was, once the shoot was over, Niki didn't want to leave Nikolaja's headspace, there was some type of serene comfort there.
When I bought the book I had no expectations whatsoever, what I left with was one of the best autobiographical stories I have ever read. Maybe in part that is because I am a spanko and it is a sort of confirmation about my own feelings and desires, but the actual book itself holds its own merit as an extremely well written piece of literature as well. Niki is a fabulous writer!! Trust me when I say this, if you are in the scene in any way, shape or form, this book is essential reading!! Even at 45 years old and with 29 years of active spanking in my life, this book has helped me come to terms with my own acceptance of who I am and what my feelings are. It was very cathartic to read and it reminded me that while I may be `Different' to the general population, it is okay to be that way and I shouldn't compromise what it is that I want in the lifestyle. You will NOT be disappointed in buying this book, it will capture your imagination and you will more than likely appreciate your own acceptance in the lifestyle a little bit more once you have read it.
Well done Niki, you should be very proud of your efforts and I for one, absolutely LOVED reading about your life and what makes you tick. It is a fantastic read that I couldn't put down no matter where I was, whether it be on a plane, the subway, or even on the bus ride home from work.
I urge you all guys, and I rarely shill for anything, BUY THIS BOOK!! If not for yourself, buy it for a scene friend or a partner, it would make a great gift. It gets my highest recommendation and you can purchase it from these direct links.

Breathtakingly Honest, 05 Feb 2008
Niki Flynn's book is a rare thing, an erotic memoire that is neither a hagiography nor a condemnation. Instead it is balanced, providing an honest, open account of her time as one of the world's best known and best loved spanking models. The writing is simple and clear, her intelligence evident throughout, allowing no room for misinterpretation of what she is saying.
To anybody familiar with the secretive, exotic world in which she moves her story will be instantly familiar, both with respect to events, thus proving her veracity, and to her feelings, which provide the most important lessons of the book.
First and foremost, if, like Niki and so many others, you feel that you are alone, without a soul in the world to share your unconventional and socially unnaceptable sexuality, her book will help you realise that you are not.
Secondly, that strong, independent woman can and do come to terms with their own sadomasochistic needs in a way that goes beyond simple acceptance to an ability to glory in that which many would comdemn and others attempt to "cure".
Thirdly, that women can and do making these choices of their own volition, not through necessity, nor by coercion.
Inevitably there will always be doubters and critics, but Dances With Werewolves brings a new honesty to this often misunderstood world and I recommend it to anybody interested in the subject, for if you have not read it, then your knowledge is far from complete.
A well crafted book; definately must read, 30 Dec 2007
One might expect that this book was written for mere erotic voyeurs and therefore would never reach a wider audience. It deserves a much wider audience. It is a finely honed and crafted book which includes an insight into an area where one would not usually expect such an honest and explanatory text. It mght not be suitable for minors, but it deserves be read by a large adult audience. This book allows the reader into the life and reality of one person who is probably unique and certainly not "run of the mill". You may not get a buzz from the events she writes about, but you should have your eyes opened and mind broadened as you begin to understand and realise that we might all be different, but maybe we should all be tolerent of those who enjoy and believe in their own pleasures without hurt to others.

Cycle of the Werewolf, 29 Dec 2006
This isn't a full length novel, but a short novella illustrated with a number of black and white and full colour pictures by Berni Wrightson. Storywise this tale of a werewolf stalking an isolated Maine town is pretty bog standard stuff, with no real new ideas or spins on the werewolf myth, though as ever King's style makes this eminently readable and the illustrations are pleasant. Nice, but nothing outstanding.
Just plain odd, 10 Aug 2006
This book is not at all what you expect from a novel. It is very short (could be read in a couple of hours or less), and the story is very simple. It feels like a children's book, albeit a very gory one. For all that, however, it is a strangely satisfying little book, with nice illustrations, and a King fan would enjoy owning it.
Good story...though spoiled by the drawings, 29 Apr 2006
I am a HUGE Stephen King fan, though I still have not read all of his books. I got this collector's edition and started reading it right away. I think it is a good story for King-begginers: the book is short, not boring, and creates a fearful environment from the 1st page to the last. I truly loved the book for its simplicity and great gore. For those who find this tale TOO simple or TOO predictable, I think you must think of the year this was written: 1984. Good horror stories were like this, without the stupid effects nor the idiot plots we see today...I think this book reflects its time, and is a mark of good horror. Read it and you'll see what I mean.
It doesn't get the 5 stars because I think the drawings spoil a very important part of the tale...I knew it before I read it(sigh...). DO NOT look at them before reading.
Anyway, it may not be his best book, but still an AWESOME read. Try it.
King collectors delight, 06 Jan 2006
I'm a huge Stephen King fan, I have everything and this just completes the collection. It's not the best story he has ever written but it is good and so nicely presented. I can't imagine anybody but an avid Stephen King collector really apreciating this so I wouldn't recomend you buy it for a friend who has just read a few king books, but if you know someone who thinks they have everything he has written, there is a pretty good chance they don't have this. Incidently there is a filmed based on this book too.
An unusual yet scary book from King, 20 Feb 2001
This is a GREAT book. This book is for all Stephen King fans, it is the usual werewolf that you always see in the movies but the way King describes it that you feel as if you're watching this werewolf just brutally kill someone right there in Tarker's Mills. I am on the third book he has written and the first 2 have been great, I hope this one is even better. The illustrator did a great job. His pictures were so realistic, it was like he had seen someone being killed like that.

His pictures were so realistic, it was like he had seen someone being killed like that.
return to form for Martin Millar, 04 Sep 2008
As an old Martin Millar fan, this was a great return to form. I'd been disappointed by Love and Peace with Melody Paradise and really didn't get on with Suzie Led Zepelin and Me. But Lonely Werewolf Girl was up there with the great Dreams of Sex and Stage Diving and Good Fairies.
Reading it was great in its own right - fast moving, funny, fantastic, quirky. Millar's voice was very clear throughout, with his love of short sentences, and simple writing style.
For those who haven't read other things by Millar, he has a unique style, voice, and milieu - marrying elements of fantasy with the London counterculture of squats, pub gigs and piercings.
I read this on holiday, enjoyed it immensely and was gutted when I finished it. I'd waited a long time for a new good book by Millar and I hope the next one comes along soon.
I couldn't put it down., 22 Jun 2008
I started to read this book yesterday evening and read and read and read until it was finished. This was probably the best book I've read in a long time and it's made me want to go out and buy everything this author has written. The sheer joy of finding a new author that I love!
Why did I love it so much? The world as populated with werewolves, faries, fire elementals and a cast of other strange beings was so vividly portrayed and the humor made me laugh out loud on a number of occasions.
The plot centres around Kalix MacRinnalch,(the lonely werewolf girl) youngest daughter of the Thane (werewolf king) who has been living in hiding in london, pursued by a host of murderous hunters, since nearly killing her father. After the death of her father the plot thickens as her brothers Sarapen and Markus (with more than a little plotting on their mothers part) vie for the sucession. So far it doesn't sound to funny does it? However the fantastic cast of supporting characters make this story a complete gem of a read; Fire elementals for whom infighting has become a fashion war, the twins Beauty and Delicious and their rock star ambitions, Daniel and his unrequited crush on Moonglow... The list goes on.
All I can really say is read this book. It's fantastic.
Courtesy of Teens Read Too, 28 May 2008
The first thing that hit me about this book was the richness of backstory and the sheer size of the cast of characters.
Although the plot centers around the titular lonely teen werewolf, Kalix MacRinnalch, she lives in a rich world populated with numerous other characters whose actions interfere with or drive important developments in the story. Fifteen-year-old Kalix is the youngest daughter of the Thane of the MacRinnalch Clan of werewolves. She's strong and she knows it, and she doesn't get along well with others--she escapes from the clan stronghold in Scotland and makes her way to London after almost killing her father in a fight. Addicted to laudanum and in poor shape, she is set upon by members of her own Clan who think she should pay for what she did to her father. Her older sister and London-based fashion designer, Thrix, helps her as best she can, but when Kalix sells the protective amulet Thrix gave her, she's easily discovered by other werewolves trying to hunt her down.
Kalix's attempts to escape the members of her clan who are trying to kill her lands her squarely in the path of Daniel, a normal university student in London who's never thought about anything like werewolves before. He and his roommate, Moonglow, do their best to protect Kalix and convince her that there are things worth living for, but outside forces intervene and place Kalix directly in the middle of MacRinnalch Clan politics.
This sprawling narrative can be unwieldy at times, and the large numbers of characters and situations initially may seem disjointed, but when the plots begin to intertwine and work together, the many different storylines coalesce into a whole that is better than the sum of its parts.
The beginning of the novel works to set up all of the information necessary for the reader to understand the world that Kalix and her friends and enemies move in, preparing the reader for the meatier middle scenes. The occasional rapid-fire scene shifts and point of view shifts were initially difficult, but these problems ironed themselves out as the ook progressed.
I was really impressed by the different characters portrayed throughout. Kalix is by no means the only one with depth; some of the other werewolves, paranormal creatures, and humans that she runs into are equally well-drawn, with their little quirks and amusing habits. Thrix, Kalix's older sister, is the werewolf enchantress, and yet she enjoys designing clothing, some of which appeals to buyers from alternate dimensions. Malveria, one of these customers, begins as what appears to be a comic character but ends up having a real impact on the plot later on. The politics of the MacRinnalch Clan are carried out by a large array of characters, each with their own distinct motivations and machinations.
LONELY WEREWOLF GIRL is not a simple read, but the complexity is part of the pleasure of reading this book.

Well, I found this book a bit of a disappointment. I bought it because of the recommendation from Neil Gaiman, who is one of my favourite authors.
WARNING- Minor spoiler alert
This book reads like it was written by a mix of a 13 year old girl, all giggly about boyfriends and fashion, and a good fantasy writer.
The characters are interesting but several have motives and drives that are completely unbelievable. For instance, a fire elemental Empress despot who having destroyed all her enemies is now only interested in fashion, to the point where she rescues a dying werewolf at great cost to herself in order to facilitate someone making her an outfit.
The book has flashes of interest and shows a great imagination, but is annoyingly juvenile most of the time.
If you are a young adult female you are most likely to enjoy it.
I was a teenage werewolf, 23 Dec 2007
Even though i'm 37 and usually read, you know, grown-up intellectual stuff...I just love this book! Absolutely could not put it down. It would make a fantastic film or Buffy-style TV series - someone, please buy the film rights. And call it The Werewolf Princess, rather than Lonely Werewolf Girl. And while you're at it, keep the London-Scotland setting, put Warren Zevon's 'Werewolves of London' on the soundtrack, make sure the male werewolves are totally fit, and cast the daft Big Brother twins as Beauty and Delicious. Wouldn't Keira Knightley be great as Kalix - she's the perfect combination of beautiful and irritating...
Hope there's a sequel...

This is the second book from seeing eye mate, and is as gripping as the first, this book can easily be read without reading the first, it carries on from the brothers to eli finding his mate and the situation is reversed its now eli turn to look sheepish. This book I read before seeing eye mate and was really gripping but when I relized there was a book before it I knew I wanted to read it just as much. What's an alpha shape-shifting wolf to do when the woman pre-destined to be his mate no longer trusts men?
After returning home from an eight-month security job, Eli Graham is ready to claim his best friend's little sister as his mate. He'd put it off for years, thinking he was doing the right thing by waiting. Instead of the stubborn, independent, carefree girl he left behind, Eli finds a shell of the woman he once knew.
Having lived through a near fatal attack, Nikki Taylor has hidden herself away from the world. Now the time has come to face head-on the one man who could devastate her completely, Eli Graham. She's loved him forever, craves him, body, heart and soul, but he's never treated her as anything but a little sister.
When Nikki witnesses a murder, she has no choice but to rely on Eli's expertise. While guarding her from the man bent on wiping out a witness, Eli shows Nikki that he'll not only protect her body, but he'll show her just what it means to be a wolf's mate.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. Wowza! It has everything. Suspenseful plot, vivid characters, intriguing secondary characters, cunning bad guy, hunky alphas, and scorching hot love.
