Sex Sex and more sex, 08 Aug 2008
In this story is Dan and Laurel. It begins with Dana's birtday and how is she celebrating do you ask?
By staying at work and working on a 'very improtant proposal'. That is quickly inturputed by a half naked woman dancing on her lap. After the first rush of desire has passed Dana angrily escorts Laurel out of the building. And of course the lift breaks down. And no one will be in until morning, which in turn means they'll have to find some way to ammuse themselfs(g). And as you'll probably guess it isn't long before Dana forgets about her 'important proposal'.
I at first thought the whole book would be about the whole thirteen hours and was worried that wouldn't be enough. But gladly that isn't the case as the story carrys on from their heated tyrst. And even furter into their relationship.
A real hot erotic story.
Hot! Hot! Hot!, 09 Jun 2008
This book is so hot it burns your fingers. Unashamedly pure erotic fiction. With the whole of the first half of the book taking place in the lift the atmosphere is electric as the characters engage in games of truth or dare and it continues to build to a rip roaring climax (!) from there.
I cannot recommend it enough if you like your fiction with an incredibly sexy slant.
Synopsis, 21 May 2008
It's her birthday, but lonely workaholic Dana Watts is at the office late, drafting a proposal. She is interrupted by the very last thing she would have expected: the most beautiful breasts she has ever seen. These belong to an incredibly hot stripper, a birthday present from a friend who thinks she needs to loosen up.
Laurel Stanley has never encountered a more ungrateful strip-o-gram recipient than Dana. The uptight project manager makes it clear that she is furious to be distracted from her work and equally appalled by Laurel's occupation.
When Dana insists on escorting Laurel from the building, the two women take an elevator ride that changes everything. Stuck with each other for thirteen long hours after the elevator breaks down, they discover how wrong first impressions can be--and how right two strangers can feel together.
Can everything change in less than a day? Dana and Laurel set out to discover if their passionate elevator encounter can mean more in this fast-paced, erotic story of lust, loneliness, fantasy, and desire.

Literature that speaks to the heart, 16 Oct 2008
Annie on my mind took my heart in its hand and led me through a beautiful simple sweet love story which I could feel part and parcel of ... No complicated scenarios, no strange vocabulary but literature that speaks to the heart.
Everyday life, everyday problems, things that most of us, or at least me have passed through.
Every single detail talks about love. Mind you I said Love, because it's just secondary the fact that the story is about two gay teenagers. And that's what is all about, love, in all its dimensions, all its colours... love on daily bases which I could relate to. That's what's compelling about this book which I suggest fervently to read, gay or not.
Thank you Nancy Garden!

i have to admit when i read the dicription for this book i wasnt blown away by it. but eveyone should read this book, wither ur gay, bi and st8 it doesnt matter this book is just fantastic Something else, 24 Oct 2006
This book is wonderful. The first time in a long time that a book actually made my heart ache. The title stems from the fact that the story is in effect told by Liza as she spends her days in MIT thinking about Annie. Annie who she loves but hasn't seen or spoken to in 6 months.
She thinks back to how they met, struggled with the emotions of falling in love with another woman and also why she hasn't been able to reply any of Annie's letters even though it hurts her so.
I can't think of strong enough words to describe how beautiful this book is. I'd recommend it to anyone. please buy it..., 17 Oct 2006
this is a touching and moving book. i have read it over and over and i still never want it to end...
nancy garden writes effortlessly and beautifully, the characters come alive and there story and experience feels as fresh as the day the book was written.
timeless What a book!!, 10 Mar 2006
This is a wonderfully written story which any one can relate to in some way or another, as most people know someoone who has been through this dilema of confusion even if not personally. Once you start reading it, you wont put it down.

Hot drama, sizzling sex and true love., 29 Oct 2008
Older ranch owner has had the secret hots for Jamie ever since the lad was an adolescent. When Jamie comes out to his dad and is chucked off the family ranch guess who he turns to for help? The author could keep the secret longing of the book's heroes simmering undeclared until the last chapter but she prefers (thankfully)to have the two guys get it on within a few pages. Thereafter, they do not seem to have much time for ranching,as opposed to raunching but who's complaining? This is a graphically erotic novel, hugely enjoyable. And there is some real adventure outside the bedroom as well lots of adventurous sex within it.
The Tin Star, 15 May 2008
A fabulous love story between two hot, sexy men. I loved it from the first chapter. Very good book and well worth a bedtime read.

DALLAS GOES GAY!, 29 Oct 2007
Fabulous - what a truely great read!
A gay, romantic lovestory (taken straight from the pages of a Dallas TV script!). This great story includes family woes, mystery, evil, love, brothers, sisters, cattle, ranch hands, a steakhouse, trucks, homophobia, secrets and MOST IMPORTANT fabulous gay characters!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - its lighthearted, romantic fun, with gay characters taking centre stage. ENJOY!!

Yet another masterpiece from Langley!, 10 Oct 2008
The title of this review is TOTALLY serious - I love JL Langley! Having read and re-read several of her previous novels, I couldn't wait for this one to arrive (after Amazon thankfully made me aware of its forthcoming publication) and I wasn't disappointed!
Langley writes about Cowboys and Indian's (Native American). She writes about Cowboys loving Cowboys and Indian's (who are secretly warewolves) loving other Indian's (who are also warewolves). Realistic? Clearly not, but lighthearted, sexy romps? Then, definately!
'With Caution' is a semi-follow up to the wonderful 'Without Reservations' - characters from the two novels cross-over - however, this book is the tale of how Remi and Jake (first introduced as bit-characters in the earlier book) find love and happiness... only after alot of angst, upset, sadness and some real SEXY loving!
These raunchy tales are thoroughly enjoyable; Langley takes her writing seriously as the sexy hook-ups between the characters only fill part of the text, while the rest of the story takes in other, more serious elements (such as murder, abuse and death).
What is especially pleasant is the kinship between the gay characters. In this book, it tells how members of the same warewolf pack care for and defend each other other from outsiders and interlopers. The central romance is dealt with passionately and, often, quite believably.
I recommend anyone who enjoys a hot man-loving read, buy this book (only after buying and reading 'Without Reservations' first, so you know where, how and why Jake & Remi get together) and if you enjoy... then knock yourself out with her Cowboys books - 'The Tin Star' and 'The Broken H'. You won't be disappointed!!

A real page turner where the sexual tension continues to build with each page Gerri Hill has done it again, a wonderful read.

Once again KG MacGregor brings us the continuing story of Lily and Anna, the book take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions with some surprises to say the least.
Just Brilliant, 20 Jan 2008
I was drawn in from the first page, you can't help but fall for Ethan and Jamie. Cowboys, sex and so much more. A great read!
ENJOY!!
J L Langley Writes Good M/M Romances.... , 11 Jul 2007
This book has all your basic ingredience... small pinch of comedy, a Tablespoon of Family angst, a stock of mystery, Prime Rib Cowboys, simmering Hot Sex and served with Romance (I may have lost the plot there just slightly but it made sense at the time)
Anyway...
Ethan's best friend just turned up with Shocking news his baby brother just outed himself and their papa went and disowned the poor kid. Ethan's not going to sit back and let Jamie be forced out of his home town so offers the kid a job on his ranch... you can never have enough good ranch hands.
Jamie has idolised Ethan since before he could walk and when his sex drive kicked in Ethan was the star of more than one hot fantasy living on his ranch seeing his hot bod every day is going to be hell... or is it?
Loved It!, 14 May 2008
This book is very engaging from the start. Standish also works well as a period piece. making it very easy to imagine the period in which it is set.
Give it a go. I still think about the characters every so often. surely the sign of a great book.
Entertaining and informative, 23 Jan 2008
I enjoyed this book but it frustrated and disappointed me too, even though better than most romance stories. Maybe that's the problem, the writing raises higher expectations than possible to fulfil within the confines of its genre? Or maybe I just need more than a relationship story.
Clearly Erastes has done the research and cares about the past as more than background colour, so you do actually feel you're reading about characters and events not of our time. The story particularly informs about real life experience for homosexuals in England after the Napoleonic Wars.
I confess to a love-hate relationship with the romance genre. Many readers might not be aware of things that bothered me. I'm conflicted too when it comes to sex in novels. Here there is simply too much, as though Erastes lacked confidence the story alone could hold readers' interest, though not overly graphic. Plot and characters are secondary-for e.g., the protagonists are brought together too quickly, so there follows a succession of contrived conflicts to keep things interesting and that vital sexual/romantic tension racked up. The resulting pace is relentless: a melodramatic, cross-Europe panoply just too breathtaking for comfort (or realism).
Unfortunately I didn't actually like either protagonist very much, though I know it is part of the formula one has to be meek and submissive and the other controlling and hyper-masculine. It bothered me that secondary characters are little more than puppets used to further romantic complications then when no longer required simply disappear, or dispatched conveniently to America. There is so much going on there's enough material for more than one novel to do it justice.
Another flaw that irritated me was the writer's habit of mixing POV, often within scenes, which was confusing and distracting, lifted me right out of the story.
As a romance it would have worked better for me if Ambrose and Rafe had taken longer to get together. I like that delicious will they/won't they tension and we wouldn't have had to endure quite so much fallout when inevitably it gets difficult for our lovebirds. Or if Ambrose had struggled more believably with fierce attraction to another man- it wasn't enough that as a Classical scholar he knew about Greek love.
The most intriguing and sympathetic character comes along much later, when Ambrose learns what true love is thanks to the intervention of Padruig Fleury, highwayman and rogue. This most vivid section of the book takes place within the confines of Newgate prison, and injects welcome realism. There is also a deliciously bad villain-of-the-piece worthy of his own story.
After much suffering Ambrose at least becomes less annoying, though Rafe never won me over despite extenuating circumstances of appalling childhood abuse to explain his substantial character defects. A childhood tutor ruined by young Rafe, suddenly reappears then vanishes again as though unimportant once his purpose is served. Erastes didn't make me care much about either Ambrose or Rafe, maybe because we never truly get to know them. We sprint from Dorset to London, all over Europe, then back to London and Newgate, fobbed off with sex scenes at the expense of developing characters as more than sex objects or plot devices.
Ambrose and Rafe tread a thorny path on the way to the inevitable romantic conclusion. There are disturbing scenes involving sexual violence. Yet nothing is allowed to go too long without fortuitous intervention and neat resolution (except for those superfluous minor characters). The story effectively shows the way power was what it was all about. Which hasn't changed a jot. The ending is of course is predictable, though I secretly hoped it would surprise me.
However, I did enjoy the story and would definitely read more from this writer- I'd love to know what happens to Fleury and more of his back-story. There isn't enough good gay-themed historical fiction, so kudos to Erastes for a strong debut.
A sexy, entertaining read, 18 Aug 2007
I adored this novel, and read it avidly in just a few days. Great writing combined with a fast pace and believable characters, especially Rafe, whom I loved. Highly recommended, I look forward to reading Erastes' next novel.
Awfully Entertaining!, 25 Jul 2007
I so enjoyed this novel - I read it on a rainy hoilday in Scotland and it really lifted my spirits and made the whole few days even more memorable. The period detail is done with a light touch and although the author must have done loads of research it never got in the way of this fantastic romp of a read, just made it all the more believable. Standish himself is gorgeous and lovely, but I really fell for the glowering Rafe...Very sexy, very entertaining.
Deliciously entertaining, 12 Jul 2007
This was a wonderful read, pure romantic escapism.I read a lot of historical fiction but tend to steer clear of traditional macho hero, fainting heroine romances. The story is well plotted and paced and excellently written. I found the historical context believable and stimulating. The characters have enough depth to make them sympathetic and to make you care what happens to them, I thought Ambrose was a little two dimensional at first but his character matures convincingly as he experiences the lows of life and love. The ending wasn't ambiguous to me- just dramatic but then I may just be soppy !!

The story of Drew and Jay, drawn to each other at their first meeting but with Jay in a failing relationship, the book follows their relationship from its beginnings in freindly flirtation through to its climax on a luxury holiday where Jay and her partner and Drew and her date and all present. A real page turner where the sexual tension continues to build with each page Gerri Hill has done it again, a wonderful read.

Just Brilliant, 20 Jan 2008
I was drawn in from the first page, you can't help but fall for Ethan and Jamie. Cowboys, sex and so much more. A great read!

Jamie has idolised Ethan since before he could walk and when his sex drive kicked in Ethan was the star of more than one hot fantasy living on his ranch seeing his hot bod every day is going to be hell... or is it?
The ending wasn't ambiguous to me- just dramatic but then I may just be soppy !!
cracking Good read, 18 Jul 2008
I am aware of Ms mcKnights excellent online short stories so bought this book with relish. Well, I was not dissappointed. She has again produced a page turner with all the scintillating detail that lesbians will relish. Her writing is authentic and witty. Give this a go- you will not be dissappointed.
Oh to be sixteen again ..., 19 Sep 2008
If you are gay, bisexual or just 'curious' this book is likely to make you wish you were sixteen again. And if you are still around that age, I suspect by the end it may even help you feel 'ok' about how messed up life can be, without preaching.
I started flicking through this book last night as an idle distraction from a project that I've been obsessing about for a month now, consuming all my free time. It completely derailed my evening. I could not put this book down (ok I put it down maybe twice as nature called and I needed coffee, but that was it, honest).
The main character makes some bad choices and things get messy (and not just in the nice 'watch out for the parents' way, kids). He has some good friends who seemed three dimensional, and I'm pretty sure I went to school with all of them and apparently missed out on some fun times. This book has some very sexy moments in it, but you'll miss the point if you just try to flick to the 'go | | |
