A boyhood bible, 24 Nov 2008
I wish I had this book when I was a boy it brings back so many memories of things I tried to do (and nearly aways failed). Catapult making,go-cart making, first aid and girls all things that I sadly lacked the necessary skills in, not for the lack of trying I hasten to add. This book would have tipped the odds in my favour, I think. From codes to coin tricks I would have ascended to the rank of supercool with the knowledge in this book.
So parents out there I implore you to buy this book for your children and give them a fair chance in this unfair world and if not for that reason you could always read it yourselves !!!
Tasty Morsels, 16 Nov 2008
Undoubtedly an unusual book, but this 40+ found it good for occasional dipping into. It goes into all kinds of stuff that might interest boys, and quite a few girls too I reckon. There's bound to be inaccuracies in a book like this, and in that carping vein I would point out that some of the comments on how to play chess were not even wrong. But that doesn't matter at all. Its contribution will be to get its reader interested in a topic, not as a reference in its own right.
An excellent book by Hal (with a little help from Conn!), 09 Oct 2008
As the cliche goes: I sooo wish I'd had this book as a kid. Nearly everything inside could be found with 5 minutes determined google searching, but it is the lucidity and compiling that makes this book so compelling.
Somehow it makes you feel invigourated reading it - you feel that it is entirely possible to do all the things listed and be a swiss army man or stg.
The one weakness (if it has a weakness) that this book has is that it does have an ever so slightly condescending tone. However, given the tone of the many inferior versions (eg the 'How to be best at everything...' series - as if they are), this book is remarkably down to earth.
So, what are you waiting for? If you've got this far then you clearly spend too much time on t'internet rather than reading books like these (irony not intended). Get up off your arse and go read this book!
Not So Brilliant Books For Boys, 01 Apr 2008
Sorry to disagree with some of the reviewers on here but I would like to disagree and rename the book 'The Dangerous Book for Dads!'
Don't get me wrong - it IS a great book - but not for boys!
I think it is Dads and Grandads who love it most.
We bought it on impulse because WE liked it! Our son looked at and took a polite interest in the activities but didn't choose to refer to it again.
A lovely book, but not for boys to actually read?
PERFECT, 13 Mar 2008
The Dangerous Book for Boys shows how much better a book can be compared to videogames or activities that involve being sat down in front of a TV. Illustrating fun, creative activities and promoting outdoor exercise as well as a variety of games that will put readers' mind to the test, this book is simply perfect.
To top it up, it isn't all just fun and games, it is also educational thanks to the interesting historical and geographical facts, which top up the readers' experience with knowledge.
I strongly recommend this intelligent, beautifully illustrated, very entertaining book that will satisfy everyone, not just boys.

A good little book, 20 Feb 2007
This book is like a slightly dumbed down version of "The dangerous book for boys" I would say that it is aimed at a slightly younger market and is undoubtably good at what it does. Some of the stuff in it is just plain silly, great for the average 8 year old who after reading the page will turn to you and state very earnestly " I can climb a palm tree now". A fun book, not sure how practical the advice given in it is as most of it is never likely to get used.
The Boys' Book: How to Be the Best at Everything, 07 Feb 2007
I found this book great! I read through it all the time and have now read every page at least twice! I had never thought of annoying my sister using such cunning ways. I can't wait to teach a Parakeet to talk, hypnotize a chicken and to trick people into thinking I've lost my head. This book is fantastic for children and teenagers!
Tim McGrath, 21 Jan 2007
A great little book for boys and probably one that should be given to all boys, but please keep it in context. it is a book for boys not adults. An adult upon receiving it will smile gracuiously and wonder why on earth you have given him a boys book!
Highly recommended for ages 15 and under
In the words of a 10 year old "AWESOME", 12 Jan 2007
Bought this at Christmas for my 10 year old who takes it to bed every night to read up on a new "trick" or two. His 15 year old brother thinks its cool too! They have just had a hilarious half and hour trying to tear a phone book in two and "read each others' minds".
A Cool Book for Boys!(and me!), 11 Jan 2007
It's really cool, and has lots of things to do in it!It shows you how to do loads of things like make aeroplanes(paper),de-organ an Egyptian mummy(eww)and how to get rid of hiccups, etc.etc!I can't wait till the girls version of it comes out(as I am a girl!)

Fun but quite sophisticated, 03 Dec 2008
There are some good ideas but a little complicated so not good for very young children. Adult involvement needed at all times. Also heavy emphasis on decorations and cards and paper but no gift ideas and little cooking. Great selection of Christmas stickers to use.
A must have for Christnas, 03 Feb 2008
I purchased the book at the beginning of December and as a childminder found it brillant, we made lots of the things in there, and a one of our favourites was the Snowmen paperchain which even my 12 and 9 year children really enjoyed designing and colouring. A book for all ages.
The best I have seen, 13 Jul 2007
I bought this last year when the shorter, and therefore cheaper Usbourne christmas Activities was sold out. I am so glad it was as this book is fantastic. It includes most of the other usborne Christmas books as seperate chapters, on Christmas cards, decorations, baking etc. The stickers add a fantastic touch to everything you create and there are LOTS of them. My 5 year old daughter wanted to make everything, and we gave it a good try but did not scratch the surface, needless to say this Christmas we will be trying again!! A fabulous book and fantastic value for money

Fantastic, 03 Aug 2008
I have to say this is fantastic, my kids enjoyed it, my hubby enjoyed it and so did I. We took this on holiday and had hours of fun, and you get to keep the book. This books is great buy it, you'll love it.
Hand Art, 27 Jun 2008
A brilliant book with crafty bits to decorate the pictures. Even young or not very creative children can make excellent pictures - a hit all round.
LH Wales, 23 Nov 2007
This is an excellent little book and the kids love it. Great fun for all the family to join in. Easy instructions to follow and very creative.
The art of magic, 20 Oct 2006
With this book even little children can be artists. With the help given by Hand Art any kid is provided with a starting point for the mastering of drawing. No matter how approximate their drawing skills are, with a few simple and easy to follow instructions children can see meaningful objects appear on their sheets at their own hand! Highly recommended both at school and as parent-led activity at home.

Georgie,age nine and three quarters
Great Value, 23 Dec 2006
A lovely edition and an ideal picture flat format for the little ones to enjoy.
A few words on each page are highlighted in red and green ink the rest is in black. For example on the first page the highlighted words are Twas - Mouse - Saint Nicholas.
Ultimate natural beauty and makeup bible for teens., 29 Sep 2008
Priceless book for anyone just starting out with makeup - contains invaluable tips on how to look your best and enhance your own natural beauty with the smallest amount of makeup for every skin colouring and feature. Covers every beauty query such as braces, zits, skincare and self-esteem issues - Bobbi has heard it all and has pages of sensitive and useful guidance on all of it.
My niece and I swear by this book - I highly recommend it!
A Major Confidence Boost, 15 Feb 2006
Before I read this book I was feeling plain ugly. I hated my hair (which is 'ginger'), I hated my face... I hated everything about my self. Then one day I saw this book. I flicked through it and loved it. My mum bought it for me and that night I read the whole thing. In the moring I felt great. Now i follow all her tips and ideas. I would fully reccomend this book to any teenager who needs a self confidence boost. As Bobbie says: 'Be exactly who you are, super modles are freaks of nature'. TOO RIGHT! :D
A Beauty Bible for Every Teenage Girl, 28 Dec 2003
this book has really helped me with my makeup and general beauty skills. there is a whole chapter on zits and how to cover them up which i found really helpfull. this book answered all my questions and i have learnt lots of usefull tips such as how to make your own body scrub and the easiest way to get really soft skin all over. i would recommend this book to any teenage girl.
Okay for young teens, 18 Feb 2003
I thought this book would be better than it was. Its an american book and although it uses american slang words it easy to understand, it does however refer to american cosmetics which aren't available in the uk. It has useful character building chapters to improve your confidence which are useful and well written. The make-up application tips are quite basic and if you are already using make-up you will know most of it already. A good book for pre-teens and young teens who are just starting to use make-uop
Bobbi Brown's amazing way with words., 13 Jan 2003
Bobbi Brown's amazing book for teenagers, "Teenage Beauty", has everything you need to know about the 'problem years'. It includes ways to cover-up zits, and how to show your true beauty and concentrate on your best features - no matter what colour you are! Bobbi Brown's use of words also help you find ways around your problems and give you a confidence booster. Definately the best beauty book around, by far!

No sticky fingers, 08 Jun 2008
I love this book used by both my 4 and 8 year old. They can be left alone to complete the pictures using the sticky tape which peels of easily if they make a mistake and can be re applied. No crayons included so make sure you have some handy for finishing the pictures. Safe as requires no scissors the tape rips easily and no mess from glue. Great activity to keep them quiet on long journeys.
great idea, 09 Jan 2008
Bought this for my 3 1/2 yr old and she loves it. I love it too because she is capable of doing the pictures independently without using scissors. The pictures include a tiger, a house, a fence, monster teeth, a robot and many more with pages for building your own designs. All the pictures are well designed.

This book contains many simple Christmas projects to keep children occupied in the run up to Christmas. The instructions are clear and simply written and the illustrations are excellent. There are sheets of stickers included with the book which could have been a bit more comprehensive but these are useful none-the-less.

A simple and colourful book to keep the kids busy., 10 Nov 2001
This book contains many simple Christmas projects to keep children occupied in the run up to Christmas. The instructions are clear and simply written and the illustrations are excellent. There are sheets of stickers included with the book which could have been a bit more comprehensive but these are useful none-the-less.
really cool for girls, 30 Nov 2005
This is so cool it's much more than just any old diary! It's great fun to fill in! I also have the klutz drawing book and the watercolour one but my favourite is My Life According to Me!
its a really cool book for any girl, 05 Sep 2001
This book is really cool and funky, its really fun to fill in and then look back at a few months later and then a few months after that. Its a shame that once you filled it in you cant do it again but its still tons of fun to fill in.You can do it with a friend, buy one each or fill it in by your self, any way is fun.I liked designing a shopping bag and creating new hairstyles for models. It contains loads of iteresting things to do,and the silver pen (that comes with it) looks really nice on the black paper. Also colouring crayons and pecils show up nicely and make the book even prettier. Its the kind of book that you can do a little bit of it each day, especially in the holidays. This book is one of the many products from the klutz range.Another simmilar book by klutz is 'a blank journal for teens and beyond'. Its a really good diary or just a note book to scribble down thoghts and ideas, both books make brilliant presents!
