living with a willy, 06 Jul 2008
I bought this book for my 13 year old, what a well written funny book. It is written in an informative yet relaxed way that most normal teenagers will understand. Although we have a relaxed approach to answering sex questions there are some things a teenage boy just cant ask his parents, this book filled in the gaps. Buy it !
Don't buy this!, 16 Feb 2008
I bought this book for my over inquisitive 11 year old son. How anyone could think it is suitable for children is beyond me, as a mum my son asks questions I can't answer so I bought this book to give me an insight and with the hopes of passing it on to him once vetted. The book is badly written for a start, there is a brief introduction to each section and then several letters to an Agony Uncle. A 14 year old boy worries that he'll be unable to get his girlfriend pregnant, another teenager contemplates suicide due to the size of his manhood, then there are sections on deep frenchie snogging and oral sex, also it suggests that it is normal to fantasise about your sister whilst masturbating!
Not Suitable for the Under 14's, 01 Oct 2006
This seems to be an excellent book for teenagers but I would definitely not give this book to an under 14 without carefully vetting the material he is reading. The book covers issues which would worry an adolescent lad but goes on to discuss performance issues and diseases in a lot of detail.
Bookshelf essential for boys, 17 Feb 2006
I bought this book a few years ago; far too soon to give it to my son. It sat on the bookshelf ever since and I've been amazed at the number of grown men who've picked it up and commented 'Well I never knew that'! I've recommended and bought this for many of my friends' sons. It's not a replacement for upfront and honest chat about sex and growing up but its an invaluable help. My son has had it for a while now and I've found it allows him to read in his own time about topics he may not want to ask about. It has also prompted questions and lots of discussion - especially as he just picks it up and opens it in random places!
A mums best freind (pardon the pun), 13 Aug 2005
As a woman and a mother i only have third party experience of the vaguaries of the willy. I also realise that the last person a boy wants to ask about his willy is his mum. Some things are just beyond the pale. SO i found this book and what a gem it is. The Boys are 9 and nearly 11. My husband vetted it first because i thought he'd have a better idea of what would be needed in the way of an owners manual being an owner himself. He spent two nights sniggering and giggling and then said it was perfect. Especially for the older boy. We think that the younger boy may just find some of it gross but children tend to read or listen to as much as they can handle then switch off. It is written in a non medical fashion but without any silly inaccuracies that may cause problems later. It also covers related areas such as hygene, the ettiquette of early physical relations with girls, kissing and mutual respect but in a relaxed inoffensive manner that a boy can understand and remember. I'll leave it on their bookshelf so they can dip into it as and when they need.

Provides an interesting insight, 25 Feb 2002
The book provides a detailed explanation of the various methods of contraception available. With full explanations (probably the first time in your life that you will have access to the full facts) of how each method works. A must for any woman of reproductive age wishing to avoid pregnancy - although not a light read. Finally it provides a, sometimes shocking, yet very interesting insight into how the medical profession often overstep the care relationship and become patronising and paternalistic.
The bible of contraception. Too expensive., 11 Dec 2001
This is a must have if you are a GP. It answers all those niggling questions that your patients ask you, and that you ask yourself - what else do you need?...
Excellent resource, 05 Sep 2001
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for detailed information about different contraceptive methods, their failure rates and side effects. Whether trying to choose a method to use, or as a doctor having to answer patients' queries, this is an invaluable resource. It is well laid out and highly readable with clear answers backed up with clinical evidence. Excellent.

Sex Education and more, 27 Oct 2008
An education to read how 'ancient' India viewed sexual practices for the benefit of males AND females but also an insight into social mores.
The text is to be used as a tool to benefit those seeking pleasure but also a moral framework for r/ships. True it may puzzle some people, feminists and puritans in particular, for example the manipulation of males to gain female sexual pleasure, but also females towards males for the benefit of material wealth and sexual pleasures.
I was impressed with the easy, graceful transaltion of Burton.
This book is average ....., 10 Oct 2003
this book is a translation of the kama sutra - great - but now i would like to move on to something with commentry to understand it more. - so a good place to start, to wet your appetite.
But no illustrations!, 18 Oct 2002
The book is a good translation of the original text, but beware that there are no illustrations whatsoever! If you are interested in the original text than this is an excellent book. If you are looking for a bedside guide I think you should look elsewhere.
Extremely good value and very well illustrated, 08 Jun 2001
This book is very informative and beutifuly illustrated making it a pleasure to read. I was especially surprised at the quality of the book at such a low price. An ideal gift.

Not as detailed as Joy Of, but better in some ways by focussing on fewer issues. I like pencil sketches of men being men, and find this book a simple, non-glossy guide to the way things are, might be, and sometimes should be. It is A4 size and slim enough to slip anywhere unobtrusively for a furtive read. There are no great revelations, but as a simple exposition of what two or more men can do together,or even alone, it is a good book to have around. If nothing else,it provides simple reassurance and some good pictures, and there are days when these alone are better than any downloads on the Internet. I like the book, it is not a super sex manual,it is a simple low-key guide to male mating rituals, and how to do whatever you need to do with whatever equipment you have to hand; but it is without hype, and is exactly what its title says.

This book is very informative and beutifuly illustrated making it a pleasure to read. I was especially surprised at the quality of the book at such a low price. An ideal gift. Gay Sex Without Gloss, 06 Sep 2003
Excellent.
may help some, 02 Nov 2008
OK, but I found it difficult to relax as I didn't find her voice very soothing and kept thinking of 'Bubble'. Also she kept talking about your babies, when many women are being encouraged to have only one embryo implanted.
Also I think it would help if it was broken into more sections, so you can listen to the section that is relevant to your treatment.
A good start, but I couldn't get into it.
It worked for me, 09 Sep 2008
I used this throughout my IVF treatment and could see clear improvements in my attitude towards the treatment. I got prgnant first time, and whilst obviously can't say it was entirely due to the CD what I can say is that the CD helped me enjoy the whole process and remove a lot of the stress I was feeling. I found it especially useful to play track 4 (which is music only) when it came to administering injections on myself (the part of the treatment that had filled me with fear) as I was able to quickly remember a relaxed state when it was playing.
Given that the whole cost of IVF is so high I'd recommend to anyone as a cheap way of helping cope with the process.
Not that great.., 08 Aug 2008
This cd did nothing for me. During the gruelling process of IVF you need to be relaxed and keep your positivity. The woman's voice on this cd is just squeaky and annoying. She did not relax me at all. Save your money and invest in some accupuncture or meditation classes.
Success at last! This CD was a fantastic support during IVF treatment., 08 Feb 2008
I bought and used this CD during my 3rd IVF cycle (summer 2007). When I first listened to it I couldn't stop giggling because the practitioner's voice was so slow and soothing. As I carried on using it I found it more and more relaxing and it really helped me focus my mind on visualising a positive outcome. I am sure that using the CD was one of the factors that helped this cycle to work (we are now expecting a baby in May 2008 - hooray!) I tried acupuncture on my 2nd cycle but found that this CD was more beneficial as it allowed me to be more in control and I could listen to the CD before going to bed or as frequently as I wanted during the build up to egg collection and embryo transfer. It also helped me to stay positive during the 2 week wait. I hope it brings a similar level of success and comfort to others ladies who are trying to conceive through IVF treatment.

living with a willy, 06 Jul 2008

"does exactly what it says on the tin"!, 03 Jun 2004
Superb and succinct, this little volume of virility "does exactly what it says on the tin", to borrow a line from the Ronseal bloke! Professional, positive, and not at all preachy, the authors take the reader by the hand and carefully lead them through the foggy forest of fertility, without ever losing them in a muddy bog or patch of stinging nettles. A reincarnation of the classic "Fertility Awareness Handbook", N.B.C.madeS. is a masterpiece of order, simplicity, and sensibililty. The material is presented in a logical sequence, with ample illustrations, charts, descriptions and examples in plain English to aid understanding. The scope of subject matter is quite broad, including infertility, menopause, breastfeeding, a discussion of the pros and cons of different types of natural family planning, and male fertility. (My favourite quote from this 4-page chapter?: "What is the most important fact to remember about a man's fertility? The man is fertile every day")! Despite the diversity of topics they address, the authors never get sidetracked from their main objective. They do, however, provide a solid introduction to a variety of aspects of fertility which could be important to different readers, and then suggest the best books and resources to go to for a more in-depth look. One of my favourite aspects of this book is the topical index at the back, coupled with a convenient "summing up" of the main points to remember at the end of each chapter. As the bulk of the information does deal with ovulation and female fertility (because, well... as you read earlier, there just isn't that much to remember about male fertility when all the bits are functioning as they should!), those chapters may be a bit tedious or, ummmm... rather indelicate, for a man to wade through unless he has a particular fascination with the subject. The summing-up points at the end of each chapter provide an excellent way for couples to share the essential details of how female fertility works, but allow the man to skip the blow-by-blow accounts of how to tell if one's cervical mucus is "stretchy", "pasty", or merely "creamy". The index is very handy for brushing up on a detail or particular subject that has slipped the mind. To be honest, my husband and I ordered this particular book out of all the many fertility and NFP books on the market, because it was one of the cheapest and shortest. Imagine our delight when we discovered that it was also one of the best, if not THE best! After only a few weeks of moderate reading and scanning through the book, I have already learned more about my body and fertility than I ever learned at home, in school, or my pregnancies combined! It really is SOOO easy, if one simply reads through this book at a slow and steady pace, letting the authors guide you through the new terminology and occasional math problem (if Greta has a 28-30 day cycle, and she subtracts 21 from the shortest of her cycles, she has an infertile phase of 7 days...). I must admit to being a bit daunted when I first scanned through the nitty-gritty chapters on charting and so forth, but as I read them bit by bit it is all so clear as I go along. Although the authors recommend taking a course from a qualified NFP teacher for a more full understanding, the book makes everything so plain that we haven't felt the need! A sample chart to photocopy is provided in the book, and we are confidently charting and using NFP to avoid pregnancy. The only tiny disappointment we have had with this book is that the website they refer you to for downloadable charts doesn't seem to have any information about charts at all. We found some on the Planned Parenthood site instead, although I prefer the chart that is included for photocopying in the book. Natural Birth Control Made Simple is simply brilliant!
