Brilliant - especially if this isn't your first baby, 04 Nov 2008
I love this book - it's fantastic, particularly when it's so hard to find a pregnancy journal that's suitable whether it's your first, second or more pregnancies. It's also the first I've seen that even has the option to record a home birth rather than hospital.
If you're looking for something that's funny too then this is a must - it's not cutesy at all, but has sections for each trimester that says "I've been seriously jonesin' for" where you list the food you've loved and then "The thought of eating this is totally repulsive". Hilarious sections like "Honey can you please come hold back my hair: all the fun and gory details about morning (noon?)(night?) sickness" and "Scooter, Champ & Mr Bubble: inexplicable belly/baby nicknames".
The design of the book is lovely, it has curved pages that get wider for each trimester like a belly outline. It also has a section where you put a weekly photo of your belly so you get a timelapse effect of belly growth which is fun. It's a bit silly to start from week 1 but you could put pictures of yourself from then before you knew you were pregnant. As it's spiral bound you can also rip out any pages you don't want without it showing.
I would definitely get this book again for subsequent pregnancies, I think it's brilliant and it is actually a journal in that you can write how you're feeling week by week, with occasional prompts on some weeks like "more things I miss from life-before-the-belly: _walking sans waddle, _my lap, _normal undies"!

Informative, well researched and interesting, 26 Feb 2005
I am currently at 19 weeks of my first pregnancy and am finding this book a wonderful asset. The first trimester is full of description of all the changes that are going on inside with out my even knowing. The second trimester, there are fewer changes going on with baby and more with Mom. There are important tidbits of information including; nutrition and saving your back, cross-cultural examples of childbirth and pregnancy and proverbs and quotes which will make you reflect. All of this and it's a journal, but not one with blank empty pages that you have to fill in even when you're not feeling anything particularly different. A few lines here and a few lines there. Even the information is not too much to digest at a time, allowing you to miss a few days and not be overloaded with catching up. A plus for busy Mom's and Dad's who are trying to get as much information as possible without having to read the encyclopedic books on pregnancy and birth.
EXCELLENT , I read this every day.., 20 May 2002
A great day by day account of what;s happening inside, with space to record how I feel and what my own body is going through- so I can remember for the next time! I loved the excerpts on what goes on in other cultures surrounding a poregnant woamn, the birth, motherhood & fatherhood.
Very disappointing., 05 Apr 2002
I used the Anne Geddins Pregnancy Journal for my first pregnancy and was looking for something a little different for my second pregnancy. I was very disappointed in this title as it is purely a "journal" (ie blank pages with no prompts). The Anne Geddins Pregnancy Journal prompts you on each page with questions about the pregnancy which I found easy to answer and it made writing in it easy for me.
Wonderfully informative, lighthearted and interactive., 22 Aug 2000
I received this as a gift for my 1st pregnancy and used it every night. It's very informative about what is going on with your pregnancy on a day-to-day basis. It allows you to keep notes about how you feel, your weight, dr. appt's. etc. I bought one for my 2nd preg. and it was great to be able to compare notes from the 1st. It's a great gift for a newly preg. friend or for yourself - I just found out a friend is preggo - so I'm sending her a copy right now!

Product Description
If you are planning a wedding, and are looking for a great present for your young attendants, then My Day as a Bridesmaid is perfect. From congratulating your attendant on being chosen, to a section for dreaming about her wedding and future husband, this book will help any young bridesmaid record that special day so she can look back in years to come and remember all the little details that made it so special. An integrated envelope provides a place for keeping wedding souvenirs, while lots of sections to fill in and repeated "Things to Practice" sections mean nothing will be left to chance in the preparations for the big day. A clear explanation of duties adds gravity to the important role, but there's also space for plenty of fun and remembering the other people involved in the ceremony. Photo or drawing sections are a lovely touch, turning the whole into an album that will keep a visual as well as written record of everything that happened. Plan ahead, buy one for each of your attendants and make sure you are giving them a means to keep, as well as make, memories. --Lucie Naylor

Brilliant pre wedding gift for small bridesmaids, 18 Dec 2006
I bought this book for a young bridesmaid to prepare her and keep her involved in the day. It is a wonderful book to add photos, draw pictures and collect bits (eg: confetti) throughout the day to stick in later and helps your bridesmaids understand what is happening and what will be expected of them.
I wish I had been given it when I was a little bridesmaid!
The perfect gift for your bridesmaids, 30 Dec 2003
I gave this book to each of my 4 nieces when I asked them to be my bridesmaids. Its a wonderful way to bring the day to life in the run up to "their" special day! As well as explaining the wedding and the run up to the big day, they can put in dates of their dress fittings, draw pictures, write what they are feeling and even pop little keepsakes in there (one even asked if she could have some of my eyelashes for her book!) Perfect for little girls!
A lovely gift and pre-wedding guide for a young bridesmaid, 21 Apr 2000
A wonderful little book that describes a wedding in easy to understand terms. It gives your little bridesmaid an idea of what to expect, as well as explaining that her part in the day is very special and enjoyable. With sections for pictures and photographs to add in it really encourages a special feeling and takes away any fears. A beautiful little book which would make a lovely gift from the bride and groom in the run-up to the wedding.

Very little space, 07 Aug 2007
If you are one of those woman's ho like to right about all most everything (like me), this journal has just little space. I was hopping for scans pages and so and pages where I can put pictures of me as my bump was growing, but this journal doesn't offer much.
The pictures of the baby's are beautiful, but is just about it.
A gift well received, 04 Nov 2005
This is trademark Anne Geddes, carefully thought out, well designed and well produced. Good pictures, and journal headings for you to note your progress. This is for someone who cares a great deal about their impending arrival, and should be shared with people who believe there is still SOME magic in childbirth
A disappointing book overall, 22 Feb 2002
I was hoping to keep a day by day diary of my second pregnancy, but when this book arrived it did not meet up to my expactations. The space in the book was poorly utilised and the question prompts did not focus on the sorts of issues that I wanted to record. For example,it allows half a page to record where you hope to have you baby. My answer "Chester Hospital" was clearly not what the author had in mind! What I was hoping for was something to read back to my baby to tell it the sort of things we did together whilst I was pregnant, something to share. This book is OK if you want to write long paragraphs about mundane decisions, but not very exciting to share with your child. My first baby is still fascinated by the fact that he " went riding" on my horse for 6 months in mummy's tummy. I'd recomend the mothercare book, pregnancy week by week, author Nina Grunfeld, if you can track it down.
Indispensable for expecting mothers!, 04 Jun 2001
I bought it when I got pregnant and wrote everything I felt and kept with it all the scans from the baby. It was great to put everything down and even my husband wrote some comments, such as what he felt when we found out we were going to be parents. And the nicest thing is now, when my baby is 14 months old, to read what I wrote and what I expected. I'll keep it to give it to my daughter when she is older. It will be a nice book of memories to keep!
The journal that brings joy to write in., 13 Mar 2001
Truthfully, I have never had a journal in my life that has been has fulfilling as this one ,especially as I am pregnant and wanted to record every detail in an attractive way . yes!anne's pregnancy journal was perfect in every way and I am still using it. It is a journal that leaves no stone unturned in regards to a womans pregnancy . I could not believe how much it covered, and i can say a lot of thought has gone into this journal to make it pregnancy-friendly. The division of the journal into the first three months, the second and third is a great way of keeping track of the pregnancy journey. There are sections for filling in emotional changes as well as physical ones, how you feel about your body changing ,how others feel towards you,all this can be kept in the stylish journal. This journal has been a tremendous help as a momento of my pregnancy ,a beautiful record for my own baby to look back on. Even though it focus's on the mother, her expanding waistline ,her first scan and her first feeling of movements ..it also then highlights the baby's welcoming to the world, how the labour was and how the baby was. It has questions pregnant moms might forget to even ask themselves and is a great help.. even now whilst im only 24 weeks pregnant ,I still read back over the parts i have written and smile again and again at seeing each page unfold with a new picture of those gorgeous babies. This is a great buy for pregnant mothers ,I strongly advise it as part of her bookshelf.

A very personal and honest account of a year of highlights and low-lights of being a new mother. It brought back lots of memories, brought on a few tears, and made me wish I'd kept a journal of my son's first year, to share with him once he's older. I'd recommend this not only to mommies but especially for mommies-to-be because this is one of the few books that doesn't sugar-coat new mommy-hood but still makes you feel that it's well worth it.
Quite simply my favourite book, 28 Jun 2001
I read this book at regular intervals and it never, ever fails to make me smile, laugh out loud and cry. Painfully honest and deeply touching, it records the experiences of Lamott's first year with her son, Sam. Her descriptions are so marvellous (hands like stars, Christlike feet and so on) and her emotions genuine as she must parllel her son's life with her best friend's illness. I cannot recommend it highly enough - I guarantee you will love it.

This is for someone who cares a great deal about their impending arrival, and should be shared with people who believe there is still SOME magic in childbirth A disappointing book overall, 22 Feb 2002
Yes, I can relate!, 14 Feb 2005
Expecting you: My Review!, 11 Sep 2004
This book is very "American", it is a nice keepsake as it has lots of pages to write and record your feelings/pictures throughout your pregnancy, it asks you alot of questions like writing down your typical day, what happens at each midwife session, etc. I found that I skipped alot of pages as some of the questions didn't apply i.e baby shower. Overall I liked this book but be prepared to write lots!!

As it's spiral bound you can also rip out any pages you don't want without it showing.

the best gift book, 18 Dec 2006
I was given this book when my child was born. That was three years ago, and I had yet to read it without crying. This is a very powerful book. The author has put so much into this book and it shows beautifully. This is a must have for your child and for anyone you know that has children themselves.
The Miracle of your Child's Birth will Stir Your World, 01 Sep 2006
I know that some reviewers feel that this book is exaggerated, unrealistic and that it gives a false perception to children that they are more special than they actually are, but you know what? I don't care. I read the good and bad reviews before ordering it and decided to go ahead anyway. I'm glad I did. The coming of my child may not have stirred anyone else's world but it sure stirred my husbands and mine. When I looked into his beautiful little eyes mine couldn't stop running, and when his little face touched my cheek my heart skipped a beat.
So this book may not speak about how my child's coming stirred your World or this World, but I'm sure as most parents will agree the beautiful description about the welcoming of a child into the World describes each parent's feelings about there own child's birth as each child is unique and special and even more special to a parent that has hopped and prayed for a happy, healthy and beautiful baby. I don't think there are enough stars to give this book so I will have to settle for the five.
But most importantly my now 34 month old loves it and he likes the pictures. He points to the animals and says what they are and then at the sun, the moon the rain, all beautiful miracles of God (or Nature if you prefer) and he points at the drawing of the baby and says Adrian because as he knows in our eyes that represents him.
If you are a parent by this book for your kids if you're not yet buy it as a gift any new parent receiving this book I'm sure will be grateful.
Thank you Debra Frasier
A "must have" to buy for your children., 19 May 2001
A beautiful book to celebrate the birth of a child. The clear simple illustrations complement the text: "On the day you were born, the Earth turned, the Moon pulled, the Sun flared, and, then, with a push, you slipped out into the dark quiet where you could suddenly hear...." The extra information at thte back of the book gives some fascinating information for older children. You may find the sentiment a bit to saccharin as an American book, but for the children it hits the right note.
Excellent!, 21 Jul 1999
This book puts into words beautifully, how every parent feels about their child. A wonderful present for parents-to-be. I have to wait until my two year old is asleep before I read it to him as I cannot read it without crying (sounds pointless, but I hope his subconscious is getting the message - if that makes sense?)!

A few lines h | | |
