I recommend not buying this
though it probably is great for completing the game
final fantasy is all about finding out what to do on your own
that is part of the enjoyment
play the game, learn its secrets but do it ON YOUR OWN!
you dont need a book telling you how to play! A good way to complete an average game., 22 Sep 2007
Piggyback have created another comprehensive walkthrough for a final fantasy. The downside is that with the exception of a few bosses, the game is so simple that it doesn't need a walkthrough, though some of the puzzles might need them, if you are in a rush.
What this guide does deliver are a bestiary, which is as complete as I have come to expect. And, most useful of every thing, it has a secrets section. This is the section that I flip to the most for help. What the secrets section does do is tell you the best way to complete a given secret.
If you can stomach Tidus long enough to not to want to kill him and you want to get 100% completion, then this is a very good idea. Final Fantasy X Guide, 29 Jul 2007
This game is very hard at times so you will need this some puzzels will drive you crazy! and the last boss fights are very hard! so you do need this lots of help if you get lost 10/10 must buy and it godd just 2 look at. Better then expected!!!, 28 Nov 2005
I brought this guide along side the Final Fantasy X-2 one and expected that that one would be far better and much more helpful due to the percentage completion of that game, how wrong I was! This guide is brilliantly set out ONCE you get used to it. All the images in it are of a high quality and even had a few in there that I'd never seen, although I do wish that more original artwork was present.Small little thing trouble me about this guide but still think it's great and well worth the money. If you ever have problems finding out information a index page is at the back as well as a contents at the front so it will never take you long really. Probably the best FFX guide you will ever see, 22 Aug 2005
Piggyback have done an excellent job of writing this fantastic guide. It has 228 pages full of screenshots, detailed maps and all the information you could possibly need This book pretty much saved my life . When I first attempted this game (without the guide), I found myself in deep trouble with my characters too weak and my enemies far too powerful. Needless to say , I didn't get very far. But with the guides help, I completed the game with no trouble at all This book is an essential purchase. If you can't get through the game without the guide (like me) then you NEED to buy this. It's the best guide that you can get for the game in my opinion The book also has all the secrets, hidden aeons, dark aeons, blitzball help and so much more Buy it, read it, and enjoy the game !

Generally Useful, 25 Aug 2008
In general terms I have found this a fairly essential piece of kit to get the most out of GTA: San Andreas. There are a few issues with the pictures for the tags/photos and horseshoes though actually it's the latter which I have found out of synch with the guide.
The mission guides are exactly that and if you want more creative or alternative solutions to some of the tasks, the excellent essays on Gamefaqs may prove more useful.
That I've had the book two and a half years and it's so well thumbed that pages are falling out is testimony to how well used it's been. Unfortunately also highlights the rather poor quality binding in a book that's likely to get heavy and extended use, including photocopying list pages to avoid marking the original.
Awful, 11 Feb 2008
I love Grand Theft Auto, I managed to complete San Andreas to 100% despite this guide.
Basic sections, such as the photographs that need taking in San Fierro are wrong, the pictures don't match the descriptions which don't match the locations.
Descriptions of the tags in Los Santos are usually incorrect or provide so little information you'd be better off without them.
The guide says annoying crap like 'mystery weapons/vehicles' without actually telling you what these are, despite being a 'complete' guide.
Generally its a load of crap, the only nice thing about it is the design, bold artwork and nice composition. It's set out like a tourist guide; even the paper's texture is nice, but its all a hoax. Whoever wrote it needs a slap and clearly never double-checked any of the crap they wrote.
Don't buy this, you can get much better 100% guides much freer on the internet.
Its good...but there are a few flaws, 11 Jul 2007
As the title says, this guide is great in most parts, BUT one thing which can really annoy, is the section on the 'Photo-ops' in San Fierro, where the locations which are numbered, dont match the images of where to take the photo, which just confuses everything, and also, some of the images where is says where to take the photo, its not even there, it'll be like a mile above it in the sky...which just takes the piss, and also, the parts which stat where the weapons are on the map, it uses random names, like for the shotgun, it names it the 'chrome gun'...or for the combat shotgun, it calls it the 'spaz shotgun'....one question..WHY!?!...
Full of omissions, errors... in a word, shoddy., 12 May 2005
The producers of computer games as well-respected and successful as the Grand Theft Auto series should really have better sense than to licence out official companion material to such shoddy, amateurish companies. This is a really poor product. The walkthrough aspect of the book is more plot synopsis than guide; and the hidden weapons locations are marked in completely the wrong place on their 'handy' maps. I would go even as far to say that the book is 'faulty'. after all, it certainly doesn't do what it is supposed to - and that's make the game easier to play. One of the chief reasons for purchasing this guide would likely be to find all the hidden items (horseshoes, oysters, gang tags, photo ops) - a feat that would be nigh-on impossible without some form of assistance. BradyGames' official guide manages not only to indicate most of these items as being an inch or so (which could be several hundred meters in-game, given the massive size of the play area), but also to use completely different numbering systems for their maps and keys (photo op #9 on the map is really #35 on the key! Genius)! Their attempt to assist further with screenshots of the locations of each item is made worthless by virtue of the fact that said screenshots appear to be from a different build/version of the game: they display objects and scenery which are not actually present in the finished game. I would expect inconsistencies, vagueness and even outright errors in guides created by fans on a non-profit basis, not in the premium official product. Imagine my surprise, then, when I eventually found myself resorting to the former to eke out the last hidden secrets of the game. The bottom line is that GTA: San Andreas is not a difficult game by any stretch of the imagination - yet this strategy guide manages to make it one.
Best strategy book I've ever read!, 18 Mar 2005

Great companion, 15 Jul 2006
With RPG's I tend to complete the game myself first and with such games as this where you have multiple endings as well as a percentage completion I redo the game with a guide.
If you've ever bought more than a couple of different guides then you will most likely know that piggy back never fail to deliver when it comes to strategy guides. They are well presented, full of secrets and contain a more than adaquete walkthrough to boot.
This particular guide is not as good as some of the previous ones in Piggyback's repertoire. I myself think the Final Fantasy VIII one is much better.
The X-2 guide is extremely well put together. However, Even with the guide gaining 100% is a lot harder than it sounds. It is easy to overlook certain points and you could miss certain events that may be required to complete in order to achieve the elusive 100% completion. I believe with the guide I managed around 98% which isn't too bad and I managed to see the "best ending". I won't give that away though as it's a bit of a spoiler.
If you like guides for games then you will love this. If you genuinely need a strategy guide because you can't actually complete the game without it then this will help you as well. If you want to uncover all the games secrets then this guide is for you.
I highly recommend this....
I'm still missing one costume though, luckily it's mascot which is a poor costume.
The art of maintaining one's dignity over the little dahlings, 27 Jun 2006
If like me, you are over 30 and have younger cousins (or kids )and you want to save face and not look like a total prat whilst playing games from the final fantasy series, then this book is for you.
Without this book, I will still be stuck in Kilika woods being eaten alive by some horrible beast or wandering around aimlessly along that long Mi-Hen high road! But with this wonderful book that has pictures, maps and strategies on how best to get through the game, you can happily gloat and lie about how "eaassy" the game is to the little dahlings

Piggyback + Final Fantasy X-2 = the perfect pair, 18 Sep 2004
Woah - Final Fantasy X-2 has to be one of the best games I have ever played in my life. And what with Piggyback writing the strategy guide, I'm in heaven when I play this! It has large sections for beginners as well as pictures of every dress sphere and monsters. The walkthrough covers all of the main plot while the secrets section fills in the gaps. I would never have completed the game this quickly and easily if I hadn't bought this book. A DEFINATE MUST for ANY Final Fantasy X-2 fan. I highly recommend you buy this book if you have the game. I have been a huge fan of Piggyback ever since they started and I will continue to buy their books.
Buy it!!! (if your a big FF fan), 04 Jul 2004
Not much to say here really, this is a definite must for anyone who is a Final Fantasy fan and has FF X-2. This walkthrough is well illustrated with a very convenient index enabling you to find out what you need to know quickly. It is the official guide and gives you ALL the secrets, and the best hints for defeating bosses and solving puzzles etc.A problem I found with an earlier piggyback guide (the FF IX walkthrough) was that it didnt give you all the secrets, but it gave you a code that you could use on their website to find out a particular tip or secret.Thankfully, they have not done this in this guide. The guide is absolutely flawless if you own FF X-2 and are a big Final Fantasy fan, but perhaps not worth the money if you are only a casual fan.

The guide is absolutely flawless if you own FF X-2 and are a big Final Fantasy fan, but perhaps not worth the money if you are only a casual fan.
metal gear definitely solid, 06 Dec 2005
8/10 for ease of use you can play the game without it and use as a back up for when you are really stuck or you can use it as a walkthrough and follow all the steps to go for a record fast time or to get all of the available goodies either way you will win , 9/10 content have extensively played game with and without the book and have not found anything that the book authors have not found or managed to significantly improve on their recommended plan of play.in all have relied upon the book on many occasions to get out of a sticky spot that had me baffled for hours then carried on playing on my own plan, definitely a must have companion to the game !
Impressive, but for collectors only?, 09 Jun 2005
As another reviewer stated, there is basically no point getting a guide like this for such a simple game. Beaten in 4 hours on Hard, it's not worth it. However, despite that, it is a quite impressive guide. The book guides you through both the Tanker and the Big Shell chapters so simply, you'd have to be unable to read, retarded, or both to be unable to beat the game with this. And even then, the very well presented images help you along where the words do not. The bosses are hardly a challenge anyway, but with the guide you beat them about three minutes earlier, if you take that long with the bosses. The guide tells you the most effective ways to completely own the bosses, from Olga to Solidus. All in all, this earns a four out of five. A good guide, but made for a game too easy.
Cute but not worth it, 19 May 2003
Ok, firstly I am surprised if anyone would even bother buying this for such an easy game. I mean, I did but that was only to see if Ive missed anything out, like bonuses or stuff. But apart from that, well, the guide looks good and it is well written but the game is easy to complete without it, so the guide is not really necessary. So, in conclusion buy this only if you are REALLY stuck on the game but if you are not, dont really bother, waste of money.
If you Want it, then Buy it!!!!!, 11 Dec 2002
This book is 99% Excellent! It covers everything one needs to know about the game. It shows very super quality map designs, dog tag lists and all the character descriptions. There's an indepth walkthrough of both the tanker and the plant, plus bonus easter-eggs are written all in the book. For those that want to know all about everything, get the book. In all honesty though, I bought the book and then realised that there was nothing left in the game for me to search for. I got absolutely everything without even having to look for it. The book is a major spoiler. In short, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the book. As I said before, it is fantastic. The only thing is whether you want to spoil the game for yourself or not.
buy this guide- it changes everything!, 18 Apr 2002
...I'd seen reviews of the game saying the game was too short but I still thought there might be good stuff to learn in the guide. I was right. Rather than steaming through the game I have taken my time and have been rewarded by still being hooked collecting all the dog tags and learning all the secrets that MGS2 has under the surface. For those of you that think mGS2 is too short think again. Buy the guide and enjoy all the experiences that Hideo Kojima wanted us to discover in the game. Thanks to Piggyback for making a brilliant guide...

This is the biggest and best strategy guide I've ever read! It's detailed, can help you get through the game alot without cheats(now thats hard!!)and it's official! The best strategy guide along with the best game!Ain't that the truth!!It helps you understand the cars, locate EVERYTHING(and i mean everything),from flowers to guns, every mission is made so much easier, with hints and tips along with the walkthrough and how to deal with all thw extras,e.g girlfriends,M.O.D garages, new vehicle missions and other odd jobs. So,if you are stuck with ANYTHING on this game buy this guide! P.SIt's also a bargain(thanks again amazon)!!

A great guide with everything you need to know about how to get the most out of this superb game! The section on how to keep stars happy and turn 2-3 star scrips into 5 star movies were particularly helpful!

you dont need a book telling you how to play!

This book is super, great presentation, but before use read and get used to the layout and possble plan wot u do, i used book marks for each chapter area
The guide is absolutely flawless if you own FF X-2 and are a big Final Fantasy fan, but perhaps not worth the money if you are only a casual fan.
metal gear definitely solid, 06 Dec 2005

A worthy guide to surviving Raccoon City, 13 Feb 2008
The book is nicely illustrated with all the basic info you need, whether you're an experienced Resident Evil veteran or if you are new to the series. All the controls and functions are laid out for you at the beginning, so that you have a head start instead of reading the instructions during game play, where you are likely to be attacked. This guidebook is aimed at players who are using single player or network mode. I still haven't played network mode yet, but the tips that are laid out throughout the guide seem pretty essential in helping you figure out what you should do if one of your on-line allies has taken a certain item, or if they have set off a certain event.
The tips offered for playing in Single mode are very good. The character profile pages give you instructions for using each character's personal skills and items, as well as explaining how to cope with each character if he or she is being controlled by the game's AI. It is worth revising the character profiles, as it gives info on all items that can be acquired using George's medical kit, David's weapon combinations and Alyssa's lock picking events. All of these subjects are repeated throughout the combat sections, weapons guide and throughout the walkthroughs for each scenario. There are detailed descriptions for each enemy encountered, including info on how their strength and attack points vary from each difficulty setting.
The weapons guide offers advice on how to rely on characters' unarmed attacks, as well as an illustrated description on each weapon including it's location and attack power. The same goes for recovery items and important items such as keys, chemicals and the like.
The scenario guides do get confusing in places, and I found myself flipping backwards and forwards through the pages several times, but Resident Evil games are renowned for sending you back and forth, and if you find yourself getting lost with this guide, you can always rely on the nicely detailed maps, each with a legend on where items and weapons are located in each area. Resident Evil Outbreak is really the sort of game in which you want to explore every possibility yourself, but even as you become experienced with the game you may find that this guide reveals events that you were unaware of and prepares you for the tougher challenges in higher difficulty modes. It points out big warning signs of where you may be at risk of an instant death, and there are "cheating ahead" sections for each scenario, displaying all possible codes in case you want to get a quick finish without looking for the right document. Though these walkthroughs are very detailed, the author has used plenty of sarcasm and humour to help lighten the mood if you are feeling edgy from all of the suspense and horror experienced from playing the game. The last few sections of the book provide further map guides and item lists for network mode as well as guides to extras such as "special items" and a guide to completing and using features unlocked in the Gallery mode. Finally, there is an attractive fold out section inside the back cover displaying illustrations and info on how to obtain each character's alternative outfits. I'd say this guidebook pretty much covers every inch of the game, and is much more organised than printing out walkthroughs from various websites for free, and at just over £6, it's definitely worth it.
Needed to complete the game 100%, 15 May 2007
If you want to find all the special items and finish the game 100% you will need the help in this guide. As anyone who has played the game knows there are 20 special items per level and an extra 20 items that only certain characters can get each level. The special items do not "glitter" and so unless you know where to look are almost impossible to find. To make the game harder the items are in four groups, and the game decides on loading which group to display. As well as detailed maps and locations of these items the book also details the events you need to trigger in order to finish the game 100% again some of these are decided by the game if they will happen or not on that play through so the guide tells you how to maximise your chances of triggering the event.
It also has all the usual knowledge found in game guides including character strengths and weaknesses as well as monster guides and strategies.
Its one down side is that there are a few errors in the book, for the first mission the special items street level map is missing and instead is a duplicate of the second floor map, however on the next page there is a written guide on item locations so it still helps. Other errors I have spotted are which groups a special item falls under and some copy and pasted text in the wrong place. Despite these minor problems the book still has all the information needed to unlock all the extras in this game.
