The book is useful for gerenal operator who are both novice and expert. It do is pratice. It's better give another chapter for troubleshooting and maintence.

This book is comprehensive and comprehensible. The information presented is quite current. An excellent job was done updating for the latest edition. The references listed appear thorough, allowing for further investigation of a particular subject of interest. Good balance of theoretical explanation, and also inclusion of commercially available technology. Highly recommended.

There are several good things to say about this book. It is easy to navigate, and the style is friendly and clear. The author starts each section with a problem scenario with which the reader can readily identify, then swiftly moves on to discuss what to do. Knowing the options of what to do is important, particularly when starting out in HPLC. Throughout the book are splendid tables which save time from reading through wordy text, which might otherwise be necessary, and figures detailing examples of chromatograms which can be used for comparison with your own work.

Excellent desk reference for GC users, 29 Oct 1998
Great overview of Gas Chromatography, detectors, hardware, problems & fixes, data analysis, etc. Worth having as a desk reference and for planning to go into new areas with a GC. Hope to get the boss to buy it, rather than keep getting the library copy.
