An absolute must for bioprocess engineers, 11 Jan 2002
This book was the standard text for my BSc (hons)in Process Biotechnology. It covered all the basic requirements for my degree and it included worked examples so that the theory could be understood. The only flaw was that there were answers to the examples in the text, but there were none to the questions set at the end of each section. Prof.Doran has included a lot of up to date work in this text and has included work from internationally renowned bio/chemical engineers that covers a vast range of subjects. The book also includes valuable references to follow up if any further detail is required from other books or reseach papers. Overall I personally reccomend this companion and I will most certainly be buying the next edition or publication that Prof.Doran decides to publish. The book helped to bulid up the quality of my notes from lectures and it probably helped me gain the 2:1 that I desperately required for my MSc. Prof.Doran takes the individual from first principles but the book focusses mainly on engineering, the microbiological content is limited, which I do think is an imporatant feature for any biotechnologist. This text is a valuable companion for the student or a reference guide for technicians involed with fermentation development in industry. I am currently a PhD Biochemical Engineering research student at the University of Birmingham.

Need to read, 16 Sep 2007
I bought this book with Dental Implant Prosthetics, also by Misch, and this is a must have book. The references are extensive and they can lead on to more papers and journals that have been used in the field of Implantology. I there was only one book you could buy, it must be this one, If you had the chance to buy two then buy both. Excellent books.

A great book for begginers., 17 May 1999
This book covers many interesting topics in molecular simulation, both Monte Carlo and M.D. It focuses on understanding the main ideas rather than giving long codes. It's a good place to start, but it also covers some ideas not found in many other books. When I try to extend my molecular dynamics program I always check what Frenkel and Smit have to say about it.
