Looking forward to Vol. 10, 26 Feb 2007
The stories in the book were just right in terms of length. Not too long as to be ponderous and heavy going, but just long enough to establish the characters and situation. I found it was a book that you could read a story a day from. Just look at the list of titles and read one that takes your fancy. One that caught my eye and sticks in my mind above the others is CAUGHT YOU by Primula Bond. That one has a particular ring to it because I heard a story very similar to that happening in real life.
A substantial book that will give a lot of entertainment, much recommended. Another book I can much recommend is FIVE MINUTE EROTICA by Carol Queen, and a new one, 100 PERCENT EROTICA by Suzie Van Aartman, which is an intriguing collection of very erotic and explicit stories some of which involve characters of more advanced years and well developed figures, some of them very well developed.
Sexy, kinky and romantic, 21 Jan 2007
Wicked Words is a great series and I think this is my favorite one so far, with creative and sexy stories by writers old and new. The standard of writing is remarkable. I particularly loved "Bootblack" by Tulsa Brown, a tale that goes to the heart of both fem-dom and male-dom D/s games. "Wheels on Fire" by Mathilde Madden is a wonderful story that I really can't describe without spoiling the plot: you just have to read it! But my favorite of them all is "Six of the Best" by Fiona Locke, in which a university student unexpectedly encounters her old schoolmaster: never has authority been sexier. This story led me to Fiona's new novel, "Over the Knee", which is a wonderful exploration of kinky romance. There are several other authors here whose books I'll be buying soon. Well done, Wicked Words! Wicked And Wild!, 14 Dec 2006
I've just finished Wicked Words, Vol. 9 (my first read of the Wicked Words series). I could hardly put it down! Well written stories for almost everyone's taste. And just enough 'story' to leave the reader wanting more. For instance, I would love to have known what happened afterwards in 'Bootblack', which was a story about a young man's introduction into the world of female domination.
Loved it! Oh dear, I've just realised I'll have to start the series from the beginning now. Ho hum... Wicked!!, 14 Feb 2006
"Wicked Words" is just that--wicked! I love erotica short anthologies and Black Lace seems to always have the best. The stories don't take eons to read and are relevant to culture today, i.e. not Victorian erotica which I find a bit stuffy. So, this is a definite recommend. I also recommend "Eager to Please" (Kim Corum) and "Naughty Stories" (Allision Tyler.)
Wicked!, 13 Oct 2005
Wicked in every way, I have all of the collection and can safely say the standard has not dropped!

Basically woman fantasise about the same things that a man fantasises about. Each person is different so ask your partner don't bother with this book unless you want some erotic fact based on somebodies fiction. However the stories are on the whole short and you need to read a few to begin to be turned on.
Okay, but I've read better, 24 Sep 2004
This book was okay, but I thought the cover was in poor taste. Also, the fantasies were interesting, but the presentation was a bit dull. Rather than read clips of women's fantasies, I would rather read stories that describe the fantasy in more detail, such as in Nancy Madore's "Bedtime Stories for Women" where many of the same fantasies these women describe are ellaborated on in fairy tale "fantasy" stories for women. This book reminded me of Nancy Friday's book of women's fantasies, which I also read and found interesting but not very sensual.
hmmmm, 19 Aug 2004
sent it back and bought Nancy Fridays instead. The look of the book put me off, looked like a dirty book.
Hot for sex!, 27 Jun 2004
This book is very informative and helps to explain that some of the things that we secretly fantasise about are normal. It opened my mind to my fantasies. The book includes many short fantasies, some better than others. Once I began reading the book I snatched every minute I could to read the next bit. I insisted that my husband read the book...it has opened up a whole new world of fantasies to us. I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to light a spark in their lovemaking and thee book can be read by both man or woman...or even better still together!
Gets hot in there!, 21 May 2004
This Black Lace collection runs the gamet of sexual fantasies for women. However, it is not fiction, but real women and thier real fantasies, some of which were quite shocking to me, but not so much that I didn't keep reading. No fantasy is "wrong" and most of them get very hot and steamy. This is not a romantic read like some other books, such as "Now She's Gone" or the "Bad Boy" series. It's real life and real life is sometimes just as steamy as fiction. Bravo to Black Lace for putting this out.

I'm confused by the negative reviews..., 12 Jul 2008
I'm somewhat confused by the rubbish reviews of this title! I've had this book in my collection for some time, so have read it a couple of times now, and I have to say I still thoroughly enjoyed it! It's basically a compilation of the best stories from previous Black Lace editions of Wicked Words. I haven't, of course, read all of the other Wicked Words, but I'm getting there. And this book is definitely hot!!
Black Lace has changed over the years, and as I'm reading more and more titles, I'm noticing this quite considerably. For example, as "political correctness" becomes more of an issue, Black Lace is, unfortunately becoming more vanilla. This book, though, published in 2004 isn't. It's full of some incredibly alternative ideas for an erotic story, for example sex with a wheelchair user, a priest deflowering members of his congregation, and so on. It's great to see different situations being brought up, rather than same old, same old. And indeed, many of these ideas will appeal to the readers, even the more niche situations were arousing in their own way.
Overall, I think this is a really good book! It's naughty, it's different and it's sexy - what's not to like? If you like Black Lace, particularly its more hardcore elements, give Wicked Words 10 a bash.
Definitely NOT the Best of Wicked Words, 13 Jul 2006
Oh what a disappointment this book was. I am a great fan of Black Lace books, particularly the short stories, but I found this collection unimaginitive and quite frankly boring. I didn't even bother to finish some of the stories. Anyone buying this book thinking it has a collection of the "best" Black Lace short stories would probably never buy another one again. Fortunately, I know there are some far more sexy and scintilating collections out there.
DISAPPOINTING, 07 Apr 2006
The stories were rubbish. I was very disappointed with the book and didn't read any of the stories all the way through as they were very poor and didn't grab my attention.
utter dross, 08 Mar 2006
Probably the worst book I've ever read, the writing is of such a poor standard. You do not use the same phrase to describe something more than once - but on the same page ! he looked at her sex.... please , stop it right now. My lasting impression is of how badly written it was.
One of the best compilations of erotica on the market., 09 Dec 2004
This book lives up to its title: Wicked Words. Again, Black Lace gives us many shorts that are filled with erotic delights but don't numb the mind as some other anthologies are apt to do. The stories are both from the UK and US which gives it a good balance. This is a definite recommend along with "My Dirty Thirties". Good reading for all who are interested in erotica.

Very Sexy, 21 Sep 2006
This book contains some very sexy reading. The stories are fast and exciting, and the erotica is a real turn on. I held back one star because I felt there was some repitition in the stories, but I definitely recommend it for its content, along with Nancy Madore's Enchanted, which had stories with different fantasies in each one, and Lori Fosters Bad Boys, which had some hot romance mixed in with the erotica. All of these make very exciting night time reading that you can enjoy with a friend
A Medley of Delicious Stories..., 13 Aug 2001
I'm a fan of erotic anthologies because they give the reader a taste of so many different writing styles. Wicked Words 4 is one of the best compilations I've found. This fantastic book features stories from brilliant Black Lace novelists including Portia Da Costa and Alison Tyler, and also includes great writers, such as Mitzi Szereto. You'll definitely find a few favorite stories to return to again and again.

Back to Basics, 18 Jun 2002
With this new collection Black Lace have moved back to an erotic space I am comfortable to inhabit. The stories are short, sharp and well written. The content is explicit and enjoyable; the variety teeters on the edge of the plausible without ever falling over. I prefer this collection to the more 'specialist' content of some of the previous Wicked Words. Above all - it's fun.

Wicked in every way, I have all of the collection and can safely say the standard has not dropped!
save your money, 14 Dec 2005

Some good, some not so., 30 Jan 2004
This is an interesting little collection of erotic short stories. I haven't read the other Wicked Words collections, so I can't compare it to those, but on its own merit this one is a bit of a mixture. Some of the stories were good, and very erotic. Others were not and, like some of the Black Lace novels, the authors seemed to be more concerned with detailing a pointless or ridiculous plot rather than admitting that they were writing erotica and should probably just get on with it. Nevertheless, there is something for most readers here. If your tastes are particular then this is probably not the best choice, but for a general foray into the genre it's probably as good as any other.

Hot Lovin' for cold Nights, 29 Jul 2004
This book contains some of the best short erotica stories i have ever read, the charageters are engaging and the story lines interesting. Definately one to get and let your imagination run away with itself.

Wicked in every way, I have all of the collection and can safely say the standard has not dropped!
save your money, 14 Dec 2005
I held back one star because I felt there was some repitition in the stories, but I definitely recommend it for its content, along with Nancy Madore's Enchanted, which | | |
