Okay, 24 Nov 2008
This was quite an emotional read and I have to admit that I did cry in some parts of it. Having said this though, like Hopeless Romantic, some parts dragged on and were quite dull. But unlike Hopeless Romantic, it didn't have a freshness that was in Hopeless Romantic that made me love it. If you do want to read this book, I would recommend that you read Hopeless Romantic first because this book, although okay, wouldn't make you want to read anymore of Harriet Evans' books.
An easy read which is very moving, 24 Sep 2008
This book is perfect for those days when you want a nice easy, pleasurable read. However, there is also a darker side to the story that is very moving and once revealed makes you look at the story and characters in a whole new light. Me and my mum both really enjoyed this book and would recommend it
Best Harriet Evans novel yet!, 22 Sep 2008
I've read all of the author's previous books and this is her best yet. The right mixture of romance, intrigue, humour and pathos - it keeps you hooked until the end. Can't wait for the next one Harriet!
the love of her life, 16 Sep 2008
Having read A Hopeless Romantic and enjoyed that I bought "the love of her life". I found it a totally different read. It took me a while to get into the book as I was not totally taken with the flashbacks at first, but understood they were necessary to the plot. Katy and Mac are good characters and then the "evil" characters Charly and Sean. The book is one you have to give a chance and having done so really enjoyed it! It had my heart racing in anger and then tears of sadness all within a couple of chapters. Wonderfully written and I can honestly say Harriet Evans is now one of my favorite Authors!!! Looking forward to her next book.
Really disappointed, 13 Sep 2008
I loved the author's last two books and had ordered this one in advance. 'A Hopeless Romantic' is one of my favourite books but this one left me disappointed. This book had no real story; it was just a big long explanation about something that happened in the past which has shaped the main character's present life. Frankly the whole thing just wasn't very interesting. I really struggled to finish the book but I kept going to the end hoping something really good was going to happen but it didn't.
A sexy read, 07 Oct 2008
This book is Tasmina Perry's third and it certainly delivers. Her first two novels were best sellers so Tasmina had a lot of work on her hands to make sure her third novel was just as good..
Emma and Cassandra are cousins, Emma being the more mature and Cassandra craving attention and status. Their Uncle has just died and the entire family are eager to find out who gets the grand home and more importantly, the prestigous company he owns. But who gets what they want? And with bitter family rivals, who will do anything to make sure they get their share of millions of pounds?
This book was a real page turner and there are alot of scandals, secrets and lies involved. I love the way Tasmina Perry really involves you, the reader, in each persons lives. This book isn't just about one person in particular, like with other TP novels, we get to find out about everybody, and not just small bits of information, we get to know their dirty secrets and more importantly, who is sleeping with who.
Unfortunately for me, this book wasn't quite as addictive as her previous two novels. Don't get me wrong, it was a stunning novel with a great story, great characters and great teasers...but I just wasn't that excited about finding out how it ends. Perhaps this book was just a little bit too long, I mean, when it arrived through my letterbox, it landed on the floor with such a thud, I thought somebody had posted a bowling ball through, not a book!
I do recommend this book as it's a sexy, scandalous read with bags of information, great characters and a great story.
Yet again another GREAT BOOK from Tasmina Perry!, 08 Aug 2008
I have read all of Tasmina Perrys books and I thoroughly enjoyed this one yet again.... This is a great read to take on holiday you just immerse yourself into the characters. I would recommend all of her books, they are easy to read and always a pleasure. Cant wait for the next one.....
A Guilty Pleasure, 21 Jun 2008
After the dissapointment of Gold Diggers I was a little aprehensive about this 3rd book by the author (Daddys Girls being fabulous)but I need not have worried. From the very first page it had me hooked. The characters were strong, the story lines ebbed and flowed and joined seamlesly. If it is high glamour and luxury you are after then this book is it.
FAN-FLAMIN-TASTIC, 11 Jun 2008
I have loved every single one of this lady's books and she is the only author that could steal Jackie Collins' crown as the queen of the blockbuster. This book has everything, super bitches, sexy men, daring heroines and bagfulls of drama that keeps you hooked from the very first page. Her characters may lead priviledged lives, but they don't get away with leading charmed ones, as Perry injects twist after twist throughout this meaty blockbuster. So much more than chick-lit! MORE PLEASE!
Best book I've read in a while., 10 Jun 2008
If you like your "Chick Lit" and have never read Tasmina Perry before I would definately recommend this one. It tells the story of Cassandra Grand and Emma Bailey, cousins who fight for the one thing that their uncle left behind in his will, the Millford empire. The whole book is a thoroughly enjoyable read and you manage to get straight into the story from chapter one. The characters are not perfect but you end up loving them anyway. I read one of her previous books by chance and thought maybe it was a one off but can assure those of you that haven't read this one that's not the case. Great read!!!
