Absolutely Brilliant, 04 Apr 2003
A really great tour through all the ages of architecture & interior design. Goes through all the ages from egyptian through to modern. Brilliant illustrations - mostly in colour. Ideal for any student, or anyone with a passing fancy in interiors. Great buy!
A must read for budding interior designers, 10 Dec 2001
For any up and coming interior designer, history is a very important subject to learn. This book includes all information needed, from Ancient Greece to 20th Century designs. You will not be disapointed. Probably the only history book you will ever need.

Loads of pictures to inspire you, but many of them seem to have a similar theme. Neutrals with a few colourful accessories. Most of the properties featured are amazing period houses with huge high ceilings. The main thing lacking in this book is that it doesn't cover newer or smaller properties, and it doesn't show any examples of anything really original, individual or bizarre. There's nothing in the way of advice in this book, it's purely about the photographs.

Like many people I sometimes struggle with perspective drawing but this book is excellent and explains things step by step with pictures and examples.
The book is well laid out and makes a difficult subject easy to understand.
Great!
VERY HELPFUL, 18 Sep 2004
This is the book. It is very easy to understand and the step to to step guide very helps. A lot of other books, I find difficult to follow the steps. However this book is a real life saver.Perfect for beginners and a bargain for it's cost. I have already recommended my university library to go and get it, because I think a lot of people can benefit from it!
Even my tutor uses this book!, 20 Apr 2004
This book is a must for all interior designers. It explains perspective inan easy way, while showing you how and what to do.Brilliant if your new toperspectives!
Excellent!, 30 Apr 2003
I am only through chapter one and I have already completed with the help of the step-by-step and illustrations three different perspectives for a shop I am designing!!! If like me perspective was a dilemma for you and every time someone tried to explain it they made things even more complicated then this is a MUST read book. Simple, professional and excellent!
Perspective for Interior Designers, 24 Sep 2002
An Exellent book. It guides the reader, using a step by step approach, from very basic perspective drawings through to more complicated designs. Perspective with camera and computer aided perspective are also covered. Well written and illustrated. Easy to understand, a must have for those intetrested/studing interior design.

Any book by Suzanne Trocme is guaranteed to be outstanding and well worth the purchase price.
Unlike most books published on the subject of architecture, interiors, decoration or design, ST's books are extremely well written and full of useful and useable practical information and advice.
In addition, the illustrations and pictures perfectly compliment the always excellent text and are 'real' enough to make the reader feel they could create similar settings and interiors.
ST is an 'edgy' realistic and uncompromising writer who thoroughly understands her subject - unlike many other authors working in this genre.
I have bought every one of ST's books and thoroughly recomend them to any reader interested in this subject. They are excellnet value for money and will not dissapoint.
Most inspirational Interior Design book I ever had, 22 Feb 2004
This book is a must have for interior design enthusiasts. It has amazing pictures as well as a strong editorial content. Each page is a delight. My best interior design book so far.

I am currently considering doing an Interior Design diploma course as a career change and wanted a book that would provide with a good introduction to the subject. This book does just that. It provides an excellent introduction to the subject. I would highly recommend this to someone who wants to find out more about the subject.

Every Architecture student should have a copy., 15 Mar 2001
This book is an excellent read. Provides and absolutely excellent generalisation of the job of an Architect and his/her day-to-day duties. This book is one that offers advise rather than tells you the right from wrong and touches upon the main points of the aspects of the Architects job and the people he/she will work with without snowing you under with technical information. This is a book that EVERY Architecture student or new Architect could make great use of. I'm an Architecture student and it's probably the most useful book I have read in my time at university.

A must for any interior designer/architectural student, 11 Jun 2008
If your a student within interior design or architecture this is a great resource. I used the previous edition through my student days.
It gives a brief run through on technical drawing symbols, how to draw in perspective, rendering with markers, rendering using photoshop, general presentation of boards, creating models, designer resumes + portfolio's.
The only cons; towards the back of the book black and white photo's were used which was a little disappointing, but I remember this being the same in the previous edition.
Being there is a lack of interior design presentation books out there, this would def have to be the best.

Bought this as a Christmas present for friends who are thinking of a new kitchen and ended up keeping it and ordering another and we are professional kitchen designers ourselves! A great reference for the more modern, but perfectly adaptable for everyday living, kitchen. Will need to update frequently, but as of late 2005, this is relatively up-to-date.

My best interior design book so far.
never a better one, 31 Oct 2003
if you are looking for a classic style without chinz and noise, you can't miss this book. it is for those who seriously want to achieve modern subtleness in classic interior.
Fabulous book, 29 Sep 2007
Essential, 04 Jan 2006
Bought this as a Christmas present for friends who are thinking of a new kitchen and ended up keeping it and ordering another and we are professional kitchen designers ourselves! A great reference for the more modern, but perfectly adaptable for everyday living, kitchen. Will need to update frequently, but as of late 2005, this is relatively up-to-date.
LIAIGRE, 26 Sep 2008
As a mere coffee table book Liaigre is adequate
However, for the dedicated design, decor, architecture and furniture enthusiast this follow up to HERBERT YPMA'S MAISON CHRISTIAN LIAIGRE is very dissapointing indeed.
Text -
After Herbert Ympa's detailed and extremely interesting page explanations and captions, the text in this new book is limited and uninspiring.
If you expect an explanation and understanding of CL's design philosphy; what he is trying to achieve with each project; how he goes about it and how his style is evolving then forget it. You won't get it here.
With few exceptions, all you get are pictures and pictures that in the main might represent interiors created by any one of several current designers.
Pictures -
As one might expect in a book of this price, the quality of the pictures are excellent. However, many of the illustrated scenes are boringly pedestrian and are no more than passing interest with a seeming lack of continuity
Adding insult to injury, for some reason scenes on one page have been duplicated on other pages which leaves the reader feeling short changed. Surely with large projects like these there is more to show the reader than exactly the same picture twice over and where are the HY style of small pictures per page that create reader interest, break up the book and generally add some energy and life to the book.
Conclusion
One cannot help but feel that all the production effort forn this book has gone into designing the covers, choosing the texture and weight of paper and ensuring the overall tome was 'weightly' As such the end product is a beautifully produced book but one that is best left on the coffe table.
For the serious student there is very little in the book that is inspirational or 'challenging' and if what is displayed is any indication then CL seems to have reached a design cross roads that shows he is battling and not althogether successfully between a style that can't make up it's mind if it is based on colour, texture form or function.
I write this as a dedicated Christian Liaigre fan
