I could say that this is a "Whirlwind of a book, transporting the reader into a world of action and adventure"... however I'd be lying.
You buy this book because you have to. However, if you do need to know what the laws and regulations pertaining to water really are, this is your book - and God have mercy on your soul.
Everything you need to know is in here but its layout leaves a huge amount to be desired and it can take eons to actually find the section you want.
Once you have found the relevant section you have to decipher the text, which was definitely influenced by members of the legal profession and as such occasionally makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Excellent course book for BPEC Water Regualtions, 28 Jun 2006
We recommended this book for students taking our BPEC Water Regaulations Certifcate here at PPL Plumbing Training in York. The book complements the BPEC course and has clear and helpful digrams. Backflow prevention is well documented and clearly explained - a first class book!
An Excellent And Beautifully Presented Book, 06 Oct 2004
I whole heartedly agree with the previous reviewer. This book is a must for anyone following either the C&G 6129 or NVQ2/3 track. The book very clearly and thoroughly explains the UK water regulations and Scottish (2000) byelaws with superb diagrams in full colour and no legal jargon. This book is a credit to the WRAS scheme, truly excellent.
An essential read for any one studying NVQ level 2 Plumbing., 23 Nov 2001
An informative book and a must have for any body taking NVQ level 2 Plumbing and any plumber in general that wants to keep upto date with the latest Water Regulations.

A gripping read, 06 Aug 2008
Bill Houston and Robin Griffiths combine original thought with a comprehensive understanding of cycles. This makes their book on water essential reading for anyone interested in the political , environmental and economic challenges the world faces in the next century.
The risks we potentially face from water shortages are frightening. This book discusses population movements and the possibility of military action to safeguard water supplies. It also clarifies for investors which countries are best positioned to face these challenges.
I found this book so gripping I read it in one sitting, Although no forecast is 100% accurate it is fascinating to consider the possibilities.

Pragmatic and practical, 21 Jan 2003
If there is such a thing as a great analytical reservoir engineering read this is it. Dake makes a complex subject understandable, practical and at times humorous. If you are actually going to some PE work then this is one to have in the filing cabinet.

The Best Book on Freshwater Pollution, 03 Nov 2004
I have found this book to be an endless help with my degree and also a fascinating read (which is unusual for a text book). It covers everthing in wonderful detail and with great accuracy. Chris Mason is a great writer and I hope to be able to read some of his other works.
A must-have for freshwater scientists, 20 Apr 2001
This book should be considered a must-have purchase for all freshwater scientists, whether in industry or in academia. It is extremely well written and provides a wealth of information about such varying topics as eutrophication, acidification and biomonitoring. The use of case studies adds depth and reality to the book as a whole. Definitely worth buying if you are taking any course on freshwater science.

8th ed review, 03 May 2006
I thought Wallingford had taken pipe tables as far as possible with the 7th edition, but the new revision is cutting edge, mould breaking stuff. Wallingford have torn up the drainage design rule book and rewritten it with this earth-shattering publication. This is the definitive pipe table resource and whilst drainage design is rarely a chore, the book is a pleasure to work with. The section on egg shaped sewers is inspired. Hooray to Wallingford for a superb publication
